13 School rhythm

A few weeks passed and soon Soisen got used to the school routine. Get up early, get some exercise out of habit, eat, attend lessons, hand in homework, explore the castle for clues about the treasures, write home, play with Rada, etc.

He immediately stood out among the students with an absurdly monstrous talent in subjects like Transfiguration, Potions, Charms, and Herbology. There wasn't much to say, they were subjects not only very useful that aroused his interest, but also had something in common that resonated with his Galegold blood, change.

Professor McGonagall couldn't contain herself and recommended him Advanced Transfiguration books in his fifth class, seeing that he was bored while the rest of his classmates struggled to finish changing the match for a needle, except for a few cases like Hermione, who had managed to make the needle but was determined to make it as or more detailed than what Soisen showed.

Professor Flitwick was impressed by his creativity in adapting or modifying the spells and often awarded him points because he helped his classmates correct their wand-swing mistakes. He practically became the professor's assistant and the professor in return revealed to him some little-known applications of some enchantments.

He had to put a little more effort into Herbology, thanks to his experience helping to take care of the garden at home, he was quite good at treating plants and did not make basic mistakes, but his knowledge of magical plants was on the same level as anyone. It took him a few visits to the library and some intense private debates with Neville before he could begin to become one of the most knowledgeable of his year, with the young Longbottom hot on his heels.

As for Potions, Snape's treatment of him changed radically and while he still attacked Harry like an eagle of prey, he often gave him advice and explanations when preparing the lesson potion and even awarded him points when he did an excellent job. The fact that he didn't have to repeat the warnings and that Soisen didn't make the same mistake twice helped a lot. The Gryffindors stared speechlessly at their potions master and the Slytherins doubted his life, believing for a moment that Soisen was one of their own hiding in another House to receive such treatment.

But wait a minute, none of them seemed to get such a good deal…

When Soisen inquired about the contents of the letter, Snape told him that he would show it to him during his second year and now he should focus on having a good foundation of magical knowledge, theories, and practices. On the other hand, when he pitched his idea of creating and marketing a vision potion to him, Snape applauded his enthusiasm for potions and suggested several books that could help him compose the basic formula of the potion. He found the books in the library and after reading them, he did what probably no student at Hogwarts had ever done before.

He went down to the school infirmary and asked Madam Pomfrey her opinion on the matter. Since he had a medical connoisseur nearby, he saw no reason not to use her savvy experience to her advantage. It should be noted that Poppy was surprised that a healthy student would want something from her, but after hearing the reason, she was delighted to help and contribute her grain of sand to the project.

Then it was just a matter of finding his way to stock up on ingredients and get started.

And just like that, Soisen was creating his first original potion under suggestions from the school nurse, corrections from the potions master, and smuggling ingredients from the Weasley twins.

The results came out in a month, it was all I needed to be able to have an acceptable potion with the desired effect without repercussions from which I should start the modifications to find more affordable ingredients, simplify the steps for its production, etc.

It was a most stimulating and enriching process unlike other disciplines.

He didn't learn anything in Quirrel's DADA when she assisted with a Bubble Head charm to ward off the strong smell of garlic. The History of Magic was boring and outdated, because the ghostly teacher only repeated what was written in the textbooks and seemed to ignore any changes or corrections made after his death. He learned more from self-study than from what was taught. Even the Flight classes were mere routine and he just followed the instructions as if he were learning to ride a bicycle..

The only subject where he performed normally was Astronomy, to which he paid attention due to the variable effects that celestial movements could cause to potions, some enchantments and magical plants.

One morning, as the rest of the four houses stared blankly at the point clocks in the Great Hall and saw with their own eyes how the new house with only one student had more points than any of them, Soisen was given a copy of the Daily Prophet. with an interesting headline while having a tasty and nutritious breakfast.

ASSAULT GRINGOTTS!

That reminded him of the existence of the philosopher's stone, at some point he should look for Erised's mirror to take a look at it. And maybe visit Fluffy.

Perhaps the time had come for him and Rada to pay Hagrid the promised visit, after all, at some point he would have to get the dragon egg and he had other thoughts to exchange with the good-hearted but ill-judged half-giant.

After finding free time and leaving the castle, Soisen walked Rada over her right shoulder to the Hogwarts key-keeper's cabin and pounded on the door several times. The door opened and a large dog peeked out, tail wagging joyfully.

"Soisen!" Hagrid looked with unexpected joy at his surprise visitor. "Oh, I see you've brought Rada." Enters! I just made some tea and rock cakes.

It was funny to watch as Hagrid poured a delicate china cup of tea while he drank what looked like a wooden beer mug filled to the brim with the dark liquid.

"If you don't mind Hagrid, I'll take the rock pies back, I just had breakfast and my mum would be furious if she knew I ate too much." I'm on a strict diet and your sweets will be a secret.

-Of course! —The half-giant nodded, satisfied that his famous dish was appreciated — Did I hear from Pomona that you are good at plants?

"Well, I have a garden at home and I helped take care of it sometimes." Soisen shrugged as he sipped his tea, still too hot, "Actually, I wanted to talk to you about magical creatures." I have some ideas in mind and I'm told they were one of the most knowledgeable on the subject in the castle.

—I only know four nonsense about it, it's a bit my passion! Hagrid immediately became sheepish. "How about this?" Tell me all about your adorable little niffler and I'll help you in any way I can.

—Sure —Soisen took a moment to summarize her story — I met Rada when she was five years old and she was taking care of a tree in the garden. I dropped a piece of candy in a shiny gold wrapper on the floor and saw a shadow rush to take it...

The story wasn't really that long. Her mothers found them fighting over the candy and after reaching an agreement where Soisen kept the candy and Rada the shiny wrapper, the Niffler began to visit the family often and eventually joined it.

-Touching! Hagrid was blowing his nose into a rag the size of a kitchen apron. "A true tale of friendship between man and magical creature, it's really like a fairy tale."

—I suppose so —Soisen watched as Rada fooled a disoriented Fang while they were playing and nodded— As for what I want to talk to you about, I understand that from time to time, you try to cross some species of magical creatures, with interesting results.

"Well, I admit it's a little tricky sometimes. Some creatures don't get along and I have to spend a lot of time convincing them to open up to new possibilities," Hagrid explained.

New possibilities, of course...

"You see, Hagrid, I recently thought…

Hagrid listened with interest, and as Soisen outlined the thought of him, his eyes sparkled with interest.

"A revolutionary idea!" He said enthusiastically before frowning. "Hmm, but it's going to be hard to combine those features and I'll need a lot of inspiration to think about the combinations." It's not something we can achieve in a short time, although I suppose we could try starting with the Streeler as a base.

"Perhaps this book can help." Soisen took a book from his robe and presented it to Hagrid, who read: On the Origin of Species by Charles Darwin.
