114 Interrupting speech gracefully

As the students took their seats at their respective House-assigned tables, Ginny and Luna looked worriedly at their senior.

-I feel soooo sick," Soisen protested quietly as he rested his head on the Great Dining Room table, trying to reduce his altered and overexcited senses.

It wasn't just Umbridge's presence and her terrible pink uniform that disgusted him, but he really felt sick since he set foot inside Hogwarts. To be more precise, he was showing the same symptoms as when he completely drained his magic reserves after a demanding Nico Ravenheart concert, only in reverse, and instead of feeling limp, he felt bloated and dizzy due to the magical overload his body and mind were going through.

A small amount of magic from the castle seeped unannounced into his reserves and right now his magic and that of the castle were trying to integrate to begin the process of inheritance and ownership recognition, forming the embryo of what would be his permanent connection to Hogwarts castle.

The bad part was that it would be several days until the process was finished and from what little he could feel since entering the castle, he estimated that a week of discomfort was going to be the least he would get and perhaps something more. If Dumbledore sensed something strange happening to the castle and tried to interfere, the period would be even longer.

The silver lining was that his magical reserves were titanic compared even to an adult wizard, so he actually already greatly shortened this step. If he had had the reserves of an ordinary student, half a year would be about how long it would take to do the same thing. Finally, the process could not be stopped even with the headmaster's intervention unless it would kill him, in which case the castle would retaliate very seriously.

If it were not for the fact that through the recent connection with the castle he already instinctively understood some things, he would take a sleeping potion and wake up when the whole process was over. But apparently, she could not take anything to "taint" the connection with the castle and could only rely on her willpower to resist the whole process while doing her student life.

His senses had become especially acute and the overload of colognes and perfumes that students and teachers usually wear especially on the first day back were hitting him hard.

-Somebody get me a bucket! -he begged.

He felt like throwing up, but even in his state, he wanted to hold it in and wait for Umbridge to interrupt Dumbledore's speech and take the floor before he indulged himself in blurting it all out and interrupting that woman in front of everyone with obvious contempt.

Fortunately, Luna passed him a large bucket and Umbridge soon interrupted the bearded headmaster.

-The Ministry..." she began to speak, and Soisen knew that this was her cue, that the time had come to let everyone know how she felt about it....

Very loud vomiting sounds*.

The speech was successfully interrupted and everyone looked at the source of the noise, for how Soisen had a pale face and showed that he was very sick as he vomited a strange bright rainbow liquid into a large bucket that he held in his arms while a red-haired student slapped his back to help him feel better.

The thing is, people didn't know if he was acting out when he saw the colors or was really sick. Hell, even Soisen stared dazedly at the rainbow in the bucket he held in his hands!

He didn't use magic or illusions, it really came out that way!

The Weasley twins seemed to be taking note of something, maybe in a few days they would sell a rainbow version puke candy.

I had to remember to ask for a portion of those sales as a source of inspiration.

-Miss Lovegood, please escort Mr. Galegold to the school infirmary, as he seems so... indisposed - perhaps it was just her imagination, but she thought she saw Dumbledore raise his thumb through his beard and wink as if he would appreciate her interrupting the witch.

Yes, it definitely must have been her imagination.

In the end, Luna had to ask Sylvia for help because she alone was not able to carry Soisen to the infirmary, due to the well-developed physique the wizard had, he weighed more than the other children his age.

Madam Pomfrey got up and hurried to follow the patient, regretting a little not being able to eat the apple pie in front of her.

...In the infirmary...

-"I assure you, Madam Pomfrey, I am not ill," Soisen repeated in the bed in a strange voice, "You know I am in my teens, and in my family, when the body reaches a certain state, we go through some very bad days. But it will pass naturally and I must not take anything during the process or much more serious problems may arise.

-And how long does this "state," as you call it, usually last? -Pomfrey asked with a raised eyebrow after examining him.

The boy was healthy and found nothing wrong with him, it was just that it seemed that his body was in a state of accelerated natural change of some kind and that was why he was having these reactions.

-About a week, give or take," Soisen answered him after filling the bucket next to the bed some more, "Believe me, if I could take something, don't you think with my skills I would have done it already?

-That's fine -in fact, she knew the talent the student in front of her had in potions and she didn't doubt that she would have taken something to calm down in this state if it was really possible- But I want you to visit the infirmary every two days so that I can keep up with your condition and you must always be accompanied by someone. I don't want you to faint in a corner and have a scare. On second thought, you should stay in the infirmary for this week and then catch up with your classmates' studies.

-But, Madam Pomfrey....

-No discussion! -interrupted the fierce healer.

-Soisen flopped down on the bed.

He wasn't worried about being in the infirmary and missing a few reminder classes before starting new subjects, he was annoyed that spending a week between white sheets would be extremely boring.

He wasn't even allowed to read books!

And visitors were always limited to a brief five minutes so as not to "upset" the patient, so even if they came to see him, they would barely be able to start a conversation before the visitors were kicked out.

-At least I'll be away from that pink toad for a week," he consoled himself with that thought.
