2 What Happened?

Janu met Kalila who was already lying in her room unconsciously. Janu looked at the love of his life. Without realizing it, his tears began to fall. Janu opened his glasses and wiped the tears that he couldn't hold back anymore.

Janu sat blankly, he wondered why the love of his life could have that disease. Because in a moment, Kalila may forget himself completely and of course he doesn't want that happen.

A few minutes after Janu was in the room, Kalila woke up and slowly opened her eyes. She looked at every room that seemed so strange. Then, her gaze stopped at Janu who was beside her.

"Mas..." Kalila said weakly to Janu. Yes, Kalila said 'Mas' to Janu because in their culture (Java, Indonesia), they have to call 'Mas" to the husband or to the older brother to show respect.

"Yes, dear?" Janu asked while rubbing the top of Kalila's head.

"Where are we now?" Asked Kalila confused

"At the hospital, honey."

"What??? What happened?"

"You're being treated because you suddenly lost your memory when you were at the mall. The doctor said you have dementia. But it's okay I'll be by your side." Janu explained while smiling.

"I wasn't going anywhere, Mas. I was at home watching TV. Are you lying to me?" Kalila's comment and suddenly Kalila's answer surprised Janu.

"No, honey. I'm not lying." Said Janu who remained as calm as possible in front of Kalila.

"When are we going home?" Ask Kalila demanding

"Tomorrow we go home. You have to be patient, honey. I will accompany you. Now you have to eat first." Janu answered while preparing food for Kalila.

"Okay, Mas."

When Kalila was eating her food with Janu, suddenly her memory reminded her of a past incident between her and Janu.

"Mas Janu? What are you doing here? Go!!! I hate you!!!" Kalila shouted to Janu. Suddenly Kalila acted like that till made Janu widen in surprise.

"Honey… what are you doing?" Janu asked softly while touching Kalila's cheek.

Kalila threw Janu's hand roughly "Don't touch me! I don't want you here!!" Kalila shouted.

"W-w-why???" Asked Janu confused but Kalila didn't answer nor looked at his face "Okay… you have to calm down, okay. I'll just leave you here for a while until you calm down." Janu replied and hurriedly left Kalila's room by walking slowly using her cane.

Adrian found Janu who had just left Kalila's room when he heard Kalila's scream from his room "Mr. Janu, What happened to Mrs. Kalila?" Adrian asked while two nurses were seen entering Kalila's room to calm her down. Janu also told about Kalila's behavior with completely confused.

Adrian also seemed to explain to Janu about Kalila's reaction "That is indeed the effect of dementia, sir. If this illness recurs later, she could hurt herself. As I said before. Hmm-" Doctor Adrian seemed to think for a moment "Are you sure that Mrs. Kalila had no trauma in the past? Maybe you have hurt Mrs. Kalila before?" Adrian wondering.

Suddenly Janu sat up and took off his glasses. He also recalled the memory that he had created with Kalila in the past. And, remembering every incident when he had hurt Kalila.

"Dila, where are you?" -Radit

"I'm still at Charles de Gaulle airport. Have you arrived in Jakarta yet?" -Dila

"Not yet. I'm transiting in Singapore." -Radit

Dila and Radit are the children of Janu and Kalila. They both hear from Janu that Kalila has dementia, a disease that causes Kalila to lose her memory.

Dila and Radit do not live in Indonesia. Radit continued Janu's business in Dubai while Dila married the man of her choice and settled in Paris.

A few days later…

Under Janu and Adrian's agreement, Kalila finally got treatment at home with Adrian who became her doctor and also a special nurse to care for and accompany Kalila for 24 hours.

Janu was rubbing the top of Kalila's head when she was in Kalila's room, the main room which has now been made a special room for Kalila. Kalila was still lying on the bed with the IV needle still stuck in her left hand. Immediately Dila approached Janu who was still looking at Kalila closely.

"Dad… Mom is still angry with you, isn't she?" Dila asked Janu when she saw her mother treated Janu bad a few days ago.

"Yes, dear. Doctor Adrian said, your Mom's behavior is indeed a symptom of the disease suffered by people who have this disease." Said Janu smiling at his daughter.

"Dad, why don't you just give up? Mom won't be able to go back to the way she used to be. There's very little chance of getting well, Dad. You should be better off resting. Let me and Mas Radit take care of Mom here. For the time being, don't come into this room. I am afraid mom will be angry again." Said Dila obviously.

"No. I will never leave your Mom." Janu commented.

"But, Dad... You also need rest." Dila comments to her father with a very annoyed look on her face.

"I can't, Dila. I want to be beside your Mom for the rest of my life." Dila sighed seeing the response of her father who was very loyal to accompany Kalila, her mother.

"Okay okay. Now let's eat first, Dad. Mas Radit and doctor Adrian are already waiting in the dining room."

When Janu, Radit, Dila, and also doctor Adrian were eating food in the dining room, Radit immediately asked Janu about Kalila's condition.

"What's wrong with Mom, Dad? How can Mom hate you so much? I think you have never done anything wrong and always accompanied Mom until now." Said Radit with a confused face.

"I couldn't agree more with you, Mas Radit. I'm also confused about that. Dad has never hurt Mom. In fact, Dad and Mom have always been romantic." Dila said agreeing to Radit.

"No, son. It was my fault that made your Mom like this. Maybe you should know what happened at that time." Janu replied while taking a deep breath. In the end, Janu tells about his past with Kalila in front of Radit, Dila, and also Adrian who has become Kalila's doctor.
