1 Prologue: I know no one will read this

"From now on, this child is classified as a Despicable and shall be treated as such!"

A deluge of objects, both blunt and sharp, pelted a single person, standing in the center of a large, auditorium-like room.

That one person could only run as fast as they could, while raising their arms in an attempt to protect themself from the onslaught.

Why me? Why did this have to happen to me? All because of how I was born. Curse this world, curse the people in this world, curse the gift of Lance to humanity!

The volley followed the child until they well-distanced themself from the courtroom.

Even with the torrent of oppression gone, the child kept running, not only from those who now saw them as a monster or a demon, but also from their own feelings, from the reality that was put into place moments before, and from… who knows what else.

That's how it was for years. Wherever the child went, their label followed them. Rejected from every establishment, spat upon by common passerby, and left friendless, hungry, cold, and tired.

The only thing that stopped the child was a single man who the child crashed into, rather unceremoniously one day.

The man bent down, obviously concerned for the gaunt and emaciated child.

"My child, why are you running?"

The child looked up at him, shocked and speechless. You would too if the only looks, let alone words, you received for years upon years were of disdain, hatred, and disgust.

The man saw the loaf of bread in the child's hands and immediately understood, he knew what was coming next.

"Oi! Come back here you little #@$%&*$!"

As he expected, a man wearing an apron came running over.

The man put his hands on the child's shoulders, and smiled, "Do it, I know you can."

The child closed their eyes and gritted their teeth. Suddenly, the baker drew a long stick and swatted at the child, but he completely missed.

A look of confusion crossed his face, he tried again to no avail.

"You know," the man said, "doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is the definition of insanity."

The baker growled. The man extended his hand and placed coins in the baker's hands, "for the bread."

The baker left without any further trouble.

"Now child, I'm impressed by what you can do, why don't you come along with me?"

The child looked distrustfully at him.

"You know that if you refuse, your life will never change. Come with me and do something about your situation."

"How can I trust you?" The child said through narrowed eyes.

The man sighed and ran his hand over his large gray beard before reaching into one of his pockets and pulling out a badge.

The badge glinted in the sunlight and everyone in the vicinity rushed to their knees shouting, "Your Excellency!"

The child's distrustful look was replaced by amazement. They took the man's hand and embarked on a journey that would change their life.

That dream again. Why do I keep dreaming of that? I live it everyday, it's not like I need to constantly be reminded of my status, even when I sleep.

Someone knocked on the door.

"Come in, Shade."

A short figure wearing a black mask entered the room, "Up and at 'em!"

They got up from bed, with a grunt, "I'm still amazed how you can see with that on."

The masked person laughed, "Come on, you'll be late for the ceremony."

"Are you sure this was the right decision?"

"Why wouldn't it be? Our master set out a plan, and this is one of the key parts."

"But, you would be so much better than I would be at this. And how can I be sure you aren't secretly jealous and might plan to kill me?"

Shade put his hand on their shoulder, "Relax, I know what needs to be done and I completely trust Master, you know everyone waiting outside feels the same. Business, Applause, Evo, Timer, we all know this is something you have to do."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, I'm sure. Besides it would be too much trouble for me to go through everything you did. The master's plan requires this."

They took a deep, shaky breath.

"Alright then! I'll leave you to get ready, but hurry up, it's going to start soon."

The words of a trusted friend easily replaced the doubt circulating in their mind, and soon enough, they were ready.

The events of that day were hazy in their mind. Just like anyone involved in such a great event it almost seemed like a dream, but sure enough, they found themself waking up in a bed foreign to their own looking up at a ceiling foreign to their own.

"Good job out there yesterday," Shade entered the new room.

"I don't even remember half of it."

"Well, it doesn't matter what you did yesterday, it matters what you do from this point onwards."

"You're right."

"Of course I am, and I better at least get some breakfast, you have no idea how hard it was to get in here."

"You didn't do anything illegal, did you?"

"Of course not, you know our master forbade us from breaking the law."

"Yeah, well I better get to work."

"You'll do great just like you said yesterday," Shade stood up straight with his forearm parallel to his chest with the thumb-side of his hand pressing against his heart, "I pledge to do everything possible to better the realms, its people, and to honor and follow the memory of my predecessor!"

"Did I really look like that?"

"Yep, now go get 'em, as the newest Pillar of the Shah!"
