The Adopted Male

Jason POV

***FLASHBACK***

Im 7 and there are wolves all around me, I'm of course not of age yet but there wolves around me are mostly teenagers, some adults. We're running through or secret tunnels that take us to the safety of another pack. For us we know them by heart, fire someone else they'd get lost in the vastness of the number of tunnels if they were human anyway. As we run I'm in the lead, everyone getting picked off one by one, I come out of the hatch that was strategically placed in the alphas office, when I'm out here jumps to his feet looking to new with wide eyes as I face the door backing away slowly. 7 more wolves come in as the alpha sticks me underneath his desk, as 3 wolves come ot from the door, the alphas people are ready for them. Catching them in midair and killing 2, while keeping one alive for questioning. They knock him out and take him to wherever and the alpha looks to me then orders a patrol of 100 wolves to go into the tunnels. As they follow his orders they all look to me. 

"Son, what's your name?" The alpha asks 

"I'm.. I'm Jason.." I say, he softens up his look add much add possible, sensing my fear as he speaks to me.

"I'm alpha Goodwin, alpha of the Heart pack. I'll be keeping you here until we're find out what's going on ok?" He says softly.

"There's no one left," I start, "I can't feel anyone. Not my parents, my friends, my alpha or Luna… it's… quiet." I cry. 

He stiffens and nods to the men they send their patrol out right away, he looks back to me, offering his hand gently. I take his hand slowly and here lead me to a room where he leaves me for the night. I cried myself to sleep.

***PRESENT***

"Time to wake up son." Goodwin says, I groan as I stretch out my limbs and he chuckles. I look towards him.

"Morning." I say, almost ready to start the day. "I'll grab a shower real quick and head down." He nods and leaves, I get up stretching again and head for the shower. Turning it on, I let my thoughts overtake me. I've been here since that day and Goodwin and his mate have taken me under their wing ever since. The pack members quickly welcomed me, feeling more sorry for me than anything. They all took me in without question, but then again they can't really question their alpha, I made friends and went to school. I grew up, he helped me through my first shift, where we found out my wolf was a rare gold coated, blue eyed, bigger wolf. My human form however is 6 foot and short brown hair, abs, muscles, blue eyes your average "hot" guy.

Finishing my shower, I get dressed, dry my hair with a towel and head down for breakfast. Sitting at the table I fill my plate and start eating when I hear dad clear his throat.

"So me and your mother were thinking…," he starts as I look up at him, "we want you to be the next alpha of this pack." I almost… no I do choke on my food. I cough, my mother and father looking at me concerned.

"What..?" I say surprised as I look at the both of them. I should have seen this coming, ever since they had found out mom couldn't have kids of her own, being infertile and all, they were extremely upset but then I came along. It was not a good way to get a kid but they couldn't help but want to take me in after I lost everything I ever loved and they couldn't have kids of their own.

"We want you to take your father's place." Mom finally says after a bit of silence. I look over to her, still in shock..

"I can't say that I'm not surprised because I truly am, but what makes you think I'm alpha worthy?" I ask truthfully. In my other pack, sure my dad was beta but that doesn't count as being alpha. Alphas have way more responsibilities than a beta, the beta just basically gets what the alpha doesn't want to do or can't do at the time something needs done. They also come to the beta for moral support and their input or opinions on matters.

"You're my son. You may not be by blood but goddamnit, you're my son. If anyone deserves this position it's you. And you'll get it if you'll have it." My father says truthfully, tears brimming his eyes.

"Dad… I'd love to be the next alpha of the pack."
