"Alright, we've finally arrived!"

exclaimed detective Leo as he and his partner Nelson stepped out of their car.there had been reports of a mutant attack near Washington D.C., though they didn't know for sure who or what it was, the only information they had was of the location where the attack took place.

"Is this the place?" asked the detective's partner as he looked at the apartment that they were sent to investigate.the apartment looked like any ordinary apartment, it had what seemed like one floor maybe one bedroom everything that a person needed to survive.

"let's go inside," said Leo as they walked up to the apartment. the apartment door was unlocked which was a bit unusual, the detectives slowly walked in and the first thing they saw were clothes thrown everywhere around the apartment, it looked like a bit of a whirlwind had gone through the house.there was a shirt and some pants on the ground along with some shoes that were thrown around the place.

"it looks like the victim was in a rush, and it looks like he used to work in an office," said nelson while inspecting the uniform that was laying on the ground "maybe but keep your senses up and see if you can sense anything weird" answered Leo while walking towards the kitchen. the kitchen appeared to be untouched, there was no activity done in there for a while. the dishes were dirty and looked like they hadn't been washed in either.

"The kitchen is clear," said Leo. as they both regrouped to continue their search while attentively looking around for clues." the bathroom is clear, there is nothing in here," remarked Nelson. they looked around a bit more and found nothing.

they slowly walked around until they reached the bedroom door." you should prepare in case" said nelson while he activated his mutant ability. they both prepared and they opened the door

there in the middle of the room, they saw a lifeless body who looked like it was stabbed by a sharp weapon." keep your eyes peeled nelson, the killer could still be here!!" said Leo" yeah man I will! answered nelson as he looked around the room.

Leo ran over to the body to inspect it. the body was not bleeding out from the stab wound instead in place of blood there was a dark hole that looked like a bottomless pit.there was no sense of any mutant energy either so this person must have just been a normal human with no abilities

"nelson! call the captain and report to him what we found" said Leo ." of course, ill get to that right away." replied nelson as he pulled out his watch and called the captain." the captains not answering!" said Nelson "it looks like the systems been jammed." then try to call again then!" answered Leo.as nelson tried to call again the watch shut down as if it was fried up." what the hell is happening!?" cried nelson as he tried his best to keep his composure."I can't tell you exactly but stay alert" answered Leo as he stood up and activated his ability.

then at that moment as if a knife had suddenly pierced his heart he could sense an incredible amount of mutant energy near them, it was so sudden and powerful he fell to his knees."hey! Leo are you ok?" said Nelson as he ran over to help his partner up."damn it that was really sudden, but I am alright!" replied Leo while giggling as he got himself back together.

beep!! beep!!! beep!!!

"We got a new mission," said Nelson . "a mutant just showed up near downtown Washington and they want us to take care of it"."haha perfect timing; then what are we waiting for? we will get back to this investigation later. for now, let's kick some mutant ass!" replied Leo with excitement in his voice as they ran out of the apartment and got to their car to fight the new enemy.

meanwhile on top of a building near downtown Washington D.C.....

hahaha, everything is going exactly as planned!!" said the hooded man with a smirk on his face as he took off his mask to activate his ability.
