24 Not a nightmare, just painful memories.

Sitting, looking at the sky's emptiness and contemplating everything. 'Stars seem more beautiful here'

Resting her head by the door frame she started to doze off, once her battle with her tired eyes was lost, she fell into a deep sleep.

The figure that was laying still up until now walked quietly to Kazumi's side, he looked at her face and was about to lick her but then the memory of what happened earlier came to mind. Comforting himself with just laying his nuzzle on her lap while wrapping her with his tail.

In her dreams….

"Stop fooling around those courtesans!!!" The screams of a woman could be heard through the hall of the manor. Waking a young Kazumi 'Mama and Papa are fighting again'

"You have no right to stop me, I can have the women I want. Besides our marriage is nothing but the blood bonding of our parents so know your place" The man hollered back at her; the woman was trembling in anger to what the man had responded to her.

The man continued " I love those women more than I will ever love you and that girl, do not repeat this mistake or I will show no mercy to the both of you" the mans white wings started to taint in red as his eyes turned black not leaving any room for light to reflect, and suddenly the pressure from his cultivation started pressing on everyone near the room, including Kazumi who had hidden herself near a window.

Her Mother spat a mouthful of blood and collapsed to the floor, after seeing this the man retrieved his energy and left the room. Kazumi who was left immobile due to the impact heard the words of her mother

"Let's see what you'll due once I get rid of those women and their child" the light went out in the room.

Having enough strength to move Kazumi shot up ' I have baby brother, I cant let mother hurt them' with tears dripping down her eyes she followed to where her mother had gone only to find the cadaver of a beautiful Kitsune 'I was too late' she dropped to her knees covering her face with the small hands that had been covered in ash from where once stood a home.

Under the pile of rubble, she heard the weep of a child, looking closer she saw a young demon beast stuck crying for its mother.

She got close to him the child shudder in fear "I promise I won't hurt you so stay still alright?" she tried her best to calm him but once she lifted the plank that had him crushed, he dashed to hide behind a tree

"If you keep moving like that, you'll just hurt yourself further. Don't be so stubborn look I have sweets with me"

Once he saw the pouch of sweets, he came out slowly "Are you really not going to hurt me Sister Fairy?"

"I won't I promise, if I break my promise you can pick out my feathers" After saying that she made her little wings visible "See, no come let me tend to those wounds okay?"

The child sat in front of her eating the sweets she gave him, so she began to treat his wounds.

"What is your name child?"

"I don't have one, what about your sister fairy?"

"Me? Well, I'm called Kazumi. Since you don't have a name how about Xian?"

His little fox ears twitched and said with a very bright smile "I like it very much Kazumi!!"

"….mi, ….mi, Kazumi Wake up!" Bai called her for the ninth time. Finally seeing her eyes open slowly he snuggled up to her "Did you have good sleep?"

Finally waking she saw Bai wrapping her with his tail, she couldn't help but blush

"Yes, I slept well"

"Did you have a scary dream? You seemed distressed in your sleep" Bai transformed into his humanoid form and sat next to her.

"It wasn't a nightmare, just painful memories" She glanced at Bai that had a worried expression.

"Well, since I'm new here what do you .do around normally" She smiled at Bai making the man blush on the spot
