1 Chapter 1

My community is a very tightly-knitted one. We are a close pack, Well as close as can be.

Were a Pack located in Nebraska and despite what you may or may not know about packs and Nebraska? We are nothing like you know. I'm the daughter of a great man. He isn't just a great man because he is my father either. He is great because he holds my community together as the right hand to our "leader". Sounds shady right? Well, it's not, it's something beautiful. you see I'm a wolf but not the normal type you may know of. I'm a wolf shifter. An unmarked, and unmated one to be specific. I know kinda cringy, and yes I did learn that word from the humans that happen to come and visit occasionally. Still, I know it sounds odd and cliche but, This is my reality. Whether it is seen as dark or beautiful is up to you but, To me, it is a blessing and a curse. Like a rose with a thorn. I mean what is beauty without its pain.

"Hey"

"HEY, Del " Azz snapped at me from beside me in the back seat. I turned to face her.

" What is it Azz "

Azz is my older twin sister. We look exactly alike well except for our demeanors and the fact that I have a beauty mark right above my left brow.

"Well, Del I had originally wanted to ask you how you were feeling about today's events but now-"

"Now "I interrupt her

"Now I just want to tell you that you have your shirt on backward."

"Wait what! "I looked down at my shirt

It was a white blouse that required buttons. I had made a mistake with it before. I, of course, looked down. Only to find absolutely nothing.

"Dude"

"It isn't even backward" I glared at Azz who tried to play dumb before busting out laughing. Making our parents in the front seat laugh as well. " Pfft, I was just trying to make you less nervous".

" I mean you do seem lost in your thoughts". My mother added in with a small smile.

"Well yeah I mean I'm not sure how your C.A ritual was. But for me?"

"Hey don't you mean us " my Sister gleefully interjects.

"I'm nervous as well. I mean my babies are growing up" My father added

"Yeah I'm sure you are dad"

My sister and I shared a look before I continued. " I am," he said " Yeah but your nervousness is different dad....You're not the one who's about to be placed in the world"

" Or the one who's about to be partnered up". My sister added, which was another thing that had me scarred about today. I mean I Know I should be excited about finally finding my life partner but what if he isn't like what I expect, or what if it is a she? My sister taps my shoulder to get my attention as I try to focus back on the conversations. "Yeah", I agreed. Then continuing on. " You're Not the one whose world is about to change".

I mean we will be shifting for the first time as well. Meeting our wolves.

Yeah, but we did it before. And I met your mom and we instantly partnered up. The hands met and the partner marking on the arms lit up. He gently brought her hand up to kiss it softly.

My sister and I both sighed at their display

Sadly, she and I were sighing for two different reasons.

Her for their unaskable love and me because their love was something that didn't come as often as most had hoped. Finding your marked and fated mate. Sadly, That didn't happen often. In fact, it was happening less and less. Somewhere just lucky I guess. That's all I could believe as I didn't believe I had luck on my side. All I could do was think as we drove to our Ancestral grounds.

~ 20 mins Later ~

We finally arrived and hopped out of the car. I Stood in awe taking it in the trees. The ground trembles with vibrations only our kind could feel. It was a welcoming and WARning. The air in the area was completely different from the other parts of the woods. It had a tingle of magic in it. Making it so sweet and addictive. Each breath compelling me and each vibrations drawing out the truth in my thoughts. It was something that was Personal to my pack. This whole area could become a live zone for truth-telling.

" So then girls". I turned to face my now grinning dad.

He took in a deep breath making sure to exaggerate each action within

" The air quality is so much better the closer we get to the ancestral grounds"

"Aah sure," I respond As my mom sighed and patted my dad's back.

" Honey I'm sure the girls are more than capable of noticing that '' she said it all with her Flowering smile.

" Ah, but- "

He started up again but was stopped by the Gravers. They had just pulled in. I Couldn't help but smile as Jax and Ell got out of the car and ran over.

Jax was my best friend and Eli, his older twin sister had been Azz's. Jazz and Eli had been like us Identical. But luckily for them, they were of different genders. He had been blessed with his father's Italian genes. Meaning he had not only gotten his wolf-shifter abilities from him but He had been blessed with his father's genes. Giving him the looks as well as the body of a model. I didn't know another Shifter that had a body like his. His nice tanned skin glowed as he smiled and pulled me in for a hug. His green eyes gave him a nice warm tone. He had been my friend since childhood so it was no surprise that I fell for him. Unfortunately, I had been rejected since he had developed feelings for someone else. We still remained friends though. I sighed as I hugged him. His Nice, sweet caramel scent lingered as we hugged. He had been so much taller than me. In fact, he had to either lean over to hug me or pick me up and I wasn't short.

I laughed When he finally released me although I couldn't help but miss his touch...
