Chapter 15

I couldn't close an eye last night, did I get too used to sleeping in weird situations or something? Or could it be that I have awoken as the ultimate being that does not require sleep....nah, I'm tired as fuck. Now that it's morning guess I'll go see what the girls are doing.

I got up from the bed, changed from my pajamas and went down to the inn's restaurant, the place was nice and quiet, everyone was minding their own business and didn't bother anyone else. The smell of food that leaked out of the kitchen was amazing, just smelling it was enough to leave my mouth watering. The girls also came down and we ordered breakfast. The two of them said that they had slept great last night...lucky them.

-So, what's the plan for today?[Ignea]

-None.[Seiji]

-Eh!? Aren't we supposed to fight some strong old man or something?[Ignea]

-There is no need to rush that, considering the state that their headquarter was in yesterday he must have realized that I'm here.[Seiji]

-Isn't that bad?[Ignea]

-Not really, since it means he'll be coming after me.[Seiji]

-Once again, isn't that bad?[Ignea]

-Ah, you'll see why it's good when it happens.[Seiji]

-What are you two talking about?[Yuzu]

That's right, we haven't told Yuzu anything about this, it's probably better she learns the truth later. Me and Ignea looked at each other and nodded, it's great that she was thinking the same thing as me. We both turned to Yuzu and told her:

-Eh, nothing important, we just have to fight an old man that did something stupid.[Seiji & Ignea]

-OK...but still, how come you're in sink? How does that even work?[Yuzu]

-It's probably just some shitty gag the novelist is trying to use.[Seiji]

-Too bad it's never funny.[Ignea]

After breaking the fourth wall for a few more minutes we quickly finished our breakfast and went into town. The place was as lively as ever, even last night there could be heard all kinds of sounds from the streets. Since it's the first time being here for the girls I suggested going to visit the monument in the middle of the city. The monument is a fifteen meter tall statue of the first king, the founder of this kingdom. I never really payed attention to it but now that I look at it more closely, the guy really looks like Raijin. Their looks may be the same but at heart the two of them couldn't be more different. According to the archives at the castle the first king was born as the son of a knight here in Danzig and became king by leading the people of this town in the first holy war. He was a great man with big dreams and an ambition like no other, a man that was loved by his people and that came to be revered as the Holy King. In contrast to that, Raijin, while still having a great ambition and thinking about his people, he has a twisted heart, filled with darkness. As his friend I can't help but feel bad for him, if the events from 10 years ago never happened he might have been an entirely different person right now, one fit to lead his people.

The day quickly passed as we continued visiting all kinds of places in the city, eating foods from all over the world and even going to a festival. The two of them looked happy, but something was off. It's not that we were followed but I couldn't help but feel uneasy. For the last decade all I thought about was revenge on that bastard for what he did back than, but now, ever since meeting Ignea, for some reason I started to forget about the hatred that dwelled inside of me.

As I became lost in my own thoughts Ignea turned towards me and asked if I was alright. I told her that I was but she did not believe me, instead she grabbed me by my hand, pulled me and started running. She smiled and told me that the night was still young and that the festival was not over yet.

After seeing her smile, I couldn't think anymore so I just went with the flow. She is right, until the time comes I can still enjoy life.
