74 Chapter-74 Ten-Masters Clan Conference pt-9

(Saegusa Kouichi POV)
I looked at the abomination created by the mad scientist!
He was tearing through the ranks of elite magicians like 'cutting butter with a hot knife', effortlessly!
Damn it! It took a lethal spell head-on without any problem; I couldn't even spot a scratch on its body. The stinger on his tail was very dangerous and from the looks of it, could very well extend to a decent length.
Not to mention its insane speed and highly durable skin!
His ability to shrug off multiple A-rank spells like they are nothing is also very frightening; I dare say only the most destructive spells can do any real harm to him.
[Light Convergence] is the highest level of [Convergence-Type Magic], meaning that, I, Maya and Mr.Saltzman are the only Convergence-Type users who might possess some threat to the creature.
Sensei might also be able to deal some damage to it, though I strongly doubt that we can actually heavily injure it before being torn to shreds.
While I don't see us defeating this formidable foe, I do know that nothing in this world is invincible. Everything has a weakness and this creature must have one too.
We just need to find his weakness and avoid losing too many of us in the process.
There isn't much I can do other than observing the situation, the perfect time to check on Mayumi, thank god! I didn't bring her sisters or brothers with me, otherwise, it could have been a disaster in case this creature succeeds in killing everyone.
I turned left, to look at my daughter who had a concerned expression on her face. I could tell immediately that she wasn't worried about herself, or even about me.
Call it a dad's institution but I could tell just by looking at my daughter that her focus was somewhere else.
Where is she looking?
Curious about the source of turmoil within my daughter's heart, I followed her line of sight, only to be astonished.
My daughter was looking at Mr.Saltzman, who was currently standing beside Sensei. Even though I am aware that he and Mayumi have been close friends for more than a year now, I didn't think that Mayumi would grow so attached to him.
I need to talk to her about this if we make it out of this room, alive.
Now don't get me wrong, this is actually great news but it also forces me into a tricky situation.
If Mayumi gets married to Mr.Saltzman, not only will it financial help Saegusa clan, increase our influence but it would also indirectly make us the strongest clan out of the [Ten-Masters Clan].
Not to mention that he himself is an extremely talented magician!
The Yotsuba Clan has been growing too strong recently, their magicians are all very skilled and powerful, and I doubt that even the combined might of 3 or 4 Ten-Masters Clan would be able to deter them.
But with the Saltzman Family backing us, we would directly ascend to the very top of the rankings. The International Influence of the Saltzman Family can only be matched by few individuals.
One of them being the mysterious President of USNA.
But now comes the big problem.
If it was any other magician, I would have been able to secure marriage for my daughter pretty easily, typically within a clan; marriages are arranged by the Clan Elders and Clan Head.
If Mayumi would have liked any other magician then I would have been able to get the magician's clan to agree to the marriage proposal by promising some 'gifts'.
But Saltzman family isn't a clan, Mr.Saltzman is the one who decides for himself and there are no 'gifts' valuable enough to sway him if he doesn't like my daughter.
I can't do anything so it's up to you, Mayumi.
It depends on how close you are to him; let's see what happens after we make it out of here, alive.
Concluding my thoughts, I once again turned to look at the creature that seems to taste the blood of the magician he just killed.
What a monster!

Such tremendous psion!
I have never felt a Juumonji exclude such pressure before!
I turned towards the source of this psion, spotting a behemoth of a man standing near the current Juumonji Clan Head.
The one who was excluding such power was, of course, Juumonji Katsuto.
Son of the current head of the Juumonji Clan.
I must reevaluate the Juumonji Clan, especially the future Clan Head, Juumonji Katsuto.
This is powerful!
Far more powerful than any of the other Juumonji clan members!
The huge reserves of psion he possesses are absolutely nuts!
But even with such power, it still pales in comparison with the creature.
Even so, I am looking forward to seeing how Juumonji Katsuto plans to confront such an abomination.
After all, having big reserves of psion doesn't directly make you stronger.
Maybe, in case the relationship between my daughter and Mr.Saltzman doesn't work out then Katsuto also seems like an ideal choice!
Of course, given we all survive after all.

I know of Erik's intentions, he doesn't want to expose his true power yet.
On point decision as always, he is using this opportunity to help me establish my prestige as the future Clan Head of the Juumonji Clan.
If I somehow survive against this monster, the reputation and deterrence of my clan would increase exponentially!
And when the public will be made aware of the fact that I am connected with the new research, Erik is working on. It will attract lots of attention to the project.
While on the surface it may seem that such attention is determinal for the plans we have, it is actually a cover. Under the disguise of creating better C.A.Ds, we will be able to get permission to enter many different areas and meet many potential enemies/allies.
Basically, a filter process which would help Erik highlight those individuals that may pose a threat to the plan, places that may give us a strategic advantage.
Not to mention, no one would ever even think that we actually are searching for certain technology to proceed forward with the vision he showed me.
Even when faced with potential death, his intelligence is still as terrifying as ever!
Anyway, I need to deal with this creature before anything else.
This will be a hard battle but I must prevail!
