17 Chapter-17: Recruitment Week pt-3

"Oh come on Mayumi! You know it was funny!...."

"Shut up Mari! I am angry at you!...."

Mayumi and Mari could be seen going back and forth with their argument regarding the prank that Mari had pulled off on Mayumi.

Mari had already apologized for scaring Mayumi as she did but even Erik knew better than to believe her, especially when she had that grinning expression over her face.

"Erik! You say something to her, she seems to listen to you..."

"W-What A-Are Y-You Sa-Saying...!"

Hearing Mari trying to ask for reinforcements from him, Erik just let out a slight smile before he ignored both of them altogether.

He looking around, observing the atmosphere around the hall. Sweat aroma permeated into the air, laughter all over the place, many students were talking about their dreams, what they wanted to achieve? What goals did they have in mind?

Everything looked so calming and peaceful when you look at it, unfortunately, Erik was special, his view towards the world was unique, his ideals regarding "True Peace" were a bit unsettling.

'Look at them, everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. The tense and serious atmosphere that generally surrounds the students could no longer be found.'

'Seeing them like this really intrigues me as of how short-sighted they really are....'

'Peace is an illusion. And no matter how tranquil the world seems, peace doesn't last long. Peace is a struggle against our very nature. A skin we stretch over the bone, muscle, and sinew of our own innate savagery.'

'These same individuals would go on to become the most ruthless entities within the human race, some may even become someone's worst nightmare yet looking at these happy, cheerful individual'.

'I would have never imagined just how corrupted this world has become.'

'If only I didn't know.....'

Erik looked all around with his calm gaze as if he was watching all this happen from the 3rd person view.

But just as he was about to continue to dwell within his thoughts, a voice interrupted his thought process.

"How did you do it Erik-san!?..."

"Huh?..."

"When Mayumi fell backwards, I saw her opening her mouth but no sound came out even when you caught her within your arms and not to mention her staring at you, none of the students noticed both of you."

"How did you achieve it?"

"Well, I simply used Oscillation magic to nullify the sound that came out of her mouth in the form of vibrations while then quickly casting an ancient spell which allows me to manipulate vector."

"Wait a minute! When did you even use magic!?"

"I didn't notice you drawing out your CAD to cast any spell, neither did I sense a disruption in psion within the surrounding, it would have been affected if you used magic."

"Hmm....once you have gained a certain mastery over your psion and have a high comprehension of the magic you use, you will be able to control the phenomenon caused by your magic so to avoid the other person from knowing that you are using magic."

"Let me give you an example, Mari-san, give me your palm."

"Huh? Ok!.."

Mari extended her palm forward towards Erik who raised his right hand and held her hand through his glove. Erik calmly controlled his psion and injected it into his pocket clock which he had held in his other palm.

"[Convergence Type:-Halt]...."

A small magic sequence appeared above Mari's palm before it disappeared completely. Erik let go of Mari's palm and turned towards Mayumi.

"Try to push Mari-san...."

Mayumi looked confused but still nodded and placed her palm over Mari's shoulder, slowly pushing her back.

She applied force over Mari's body but the latter remains rooted to her position, no matter how much force Mayumi applied, Mari, refused to bulge.

"Wh-What!?"

"I used [Halt] on Mari-san, external forces wouldn't affect her movement."

[Halt] was a convergence magic technique that fixes the relative object to a certain point, preventing movement by external forces.

"But I didn't sense any disruption in the surrounding!? Whenever magic is used, it will always affect the surrounding due to its nature."

"That is indeed true, but the scale of disruption can be controlled through one's mastery over his magic. I have reached that stage with my magic thus I can minimize the disruption."

"That's...! Amazing!"

"You can cast spells without others even knowing that you are casting, combined with lethal spells, it will make you a very strong magician!"

"Haha....you underestimate the capabilities of the magicians, there are many magicians who can do the same as me, it isn't special, it just signifies my mastery over my magic."

"Hmm...."

"Thank you so much Erik-san!"

Mayumi looked towards the handsome man walking beside her, such a talented individual yet still so stable and calm, she couldn't help but admire him for his personality.

"You have beautiful eyes...."

Mayumi unknowingly mumbled under her breath, normal people wouldn't have been able to hear her soft voice, unfortunately for her, both Mari and Erik were far from normal.

"Ohh...I didn't know that you liked Erik's eyes! What else do you like Mayumi....!?"

Mari didn't let go of this god-sent opportunity and immediately teased Mari with her embarrassing questions.

"Huh..!? I-I meant t-that Erik-san has b-beautiful e-eyes...!"

Mayumi, once again being teased by her friend went red and couldn't help by curse Mari a few thousand times within her mind.

"Mayumi-san herself has very attractive eyes...."

Erik returned her compliment with one of his own as he praised her beautiful eyes. It reminded him of the [Eye of the Moon], pleasing to his eyes so to say.

"T-Thanks Erik-san..."

"Yes, thanks Erik-san indeed...."

Mari once again went for the opening, utterly attacking her friend with her wordplay.

"You!..."

"Now now Mari-san, don't bully Mayumi-san....."

"Tha—"

"Only I can bully her...."

"....."

"Pft!...hahaha!!..."

"I am joking! Joking! No need to get angry Mayumi-san...."

"Humph....!"

"Say Erik-san, you can call us by our name, no need to be formal with us! We are all friends aren't we!?..."

"I agree with Mari, you should call us directly by our name..."

"Hmm....if that's the case then you should also call me by my name then."

"Sure!..."

"Well, let's go to the inner-hall, we don't want to miss the demonstration now, do we?..."

(A/N:-The server °•The Coffee Shop•° was created with the intent to help authors find a well-organized server where they don't have to worry about creating multiple channels and handle the server.
