40 Chapter Forty
The Old Cultivator looked at the dozens of skeletons rising from the sand around him and...smiled?
Within a minute more than 50 skeletons were standing around him with rusty iron swords in their hands.
The mod Enhanced Monster and Monster Kingdoms greatly changed the monsters of the game in many ways.
For example skeletons, the lower-ranked skeletons would only be equipped with a rusty iron sword and even a normal person would be able to kill them easily, not to mention its lack of intelligence.
The Skeleton's ranks are Weak Skeleton, Skeleton, Skeleton Soldier, Skeleton Knight, Skeleton Knight Commander, Skeleton General, Skeleton King, and Skeleton Emperor.
Surrounding the old commander were over 50 Weak Skeletons.
Instead of fear, the excitement was the only expression on the old cultivator's face.
He rushed forward with the iron sword in his hand and a torch in his other.
Without much effort, he began decapitating the heads of the skeleton while parrying their rusty iron swords with his own sword.
I was surprised by the skill he showed with the iron sword.
He must have trained for a long time with a sword to reach the skill that he was showing with the sword.
Before long the skeletons were all decapitated by the Old Cultivator's sword.
He put the iron sword back into his inventory and continued his journey through the desert in the dark.
At least the monsters no longer magically appear, the monsters are buried under the sand during the day and arise once the night begins.
And once the sun began to rise the monsters burrow into the sand and wait until night would fall once again.
He continued to wander through the desert and he found no signs of civilization since he spawned near that village.
Luckily he farmed enough wheat for bread to last literal days.
And thankfully there is no thirst otherwise he would have died from dehydration multiple times from the desert heat.
I watched the old man for another 30 minutes, and in the distance, we could finally see a forest and grass plain.
We both felt relief in seeing the forest and grass instead of the unending desert.
He wandered into the forest and the once clear skies grew dark and cloudy...a storm was coming.
Although he won't die he would still feel the feeling of exposure to the elements and the freezing cold winds of a storm.
He quickly searched for shelter which just so happened to be a nearby cave.
With a torch in hand, he carefully stepped into the cave.
The cave didn't go too far down and was a dead end.
So, the Old Cultivator sat up against the cave wall and waited for the storm to pass.
Soon my nighttime customers arrived.
The Old Cultivator had two hours left while the night customers had their full 6 hours.
The girls greeted the old cultivator before buying their drinks and snacks before paying for the game and hours.
Noticing the expressions of the girls eating the ice cream the Old Cultivator became curious.
He walked over to me and asked for a bowl of ice cream.
He ended up getting a bowl of Vanilla Ice cream and a bottle of Rejuvenating Spring Water.
At first, he had a doubt that the ice cream would taste good, but upon scooping up some of the ice cream and tasting it his eyes widened in surprise.
I ignored his shocked expression and looked towards the night customers.
They were also enjoying their drinks and snacks while logging into Ark.
I smiled and leaned back into my chair.
I have such a calm and comfortable life...
And as if I jinxed myself, a man covered in blood ran into the shop before collapsing...
The girls screamed while the Old Cultivator and I walked over to the man who was bleeding heavily.
It was a...Guard?
Suddenly a man in black clothes wearing a featureless mask stepped into the cafe.
