8 Chapter 7

"Come on, let's eat at least the food is edible." June says trying to cheer me up.

Following her to one of the table in the middle of the room. Sitting on the cold metal chair and looking around the cafeteria, there is about 50 kids in here and a few of them are wearing collars around their necks.

"Here. It's not a five star dish like the way you'd make it, but it's edible." June says.

Handing my tray of food while placing hers next to mine and sitting on the chair on my right.

"Thank you June. Why are those kids wearing collars?" Whispering to June.

"Those are shock collars. Only the ones who obtain certain abilities, dangerous ones got one." June says in a depressingly way.

"Is my cousin here? Is Michelle here?" Asking June, hoping that my cousin is here.

Michelle, my favourite cousin died six months ago. I hope that was also a lie and that she is here.

"Oh Michelle Carter. She is here but…" June pauses and stops eating.

"But? But what?" Rushing her to answer me.

"She is in the restricted area. That's the place where they put the ones who are the most deadliest." She continues to eat her food.

Looking down at my tray I haven't even touch it. It's just green peas, some sweet corn and I think it is chicken nuggets and a glass of water.

I have completely lost my appetite.

"Why is she there?" Barely whispering to June.

"I overheard one of the mercenaries here and they said that she's there because they experimented on her eyes, causing her pupils to split into two and if you look into her eyes-

It'll show you someone that you love and if you see it, you want to kill yourself." June explains, finishing her food.

"Almost like Medusa, instead of snakes it's her eyes and instead of stone, you commit suicide." I quietly said.

"Where do they get these thing to inject you with?" Asking her out of confusion.

"I heard that they have a perfectly preserved Soldier of Nature and they do tests on its blood and injects it in us." June replies sounding sceptically.

"Experiment .331, let's go!" One of the mercenaries shouts.

That must be one of the kids that he is shouting at.

"I said let's go!" Was the last thing I heard before getting kicked off my chair.

Hitting the floor causing pain to go through my shoulder as I fell on it.

"Hey!" June shouts getting up from her chair.

"Sit back down Experiment .199" The mans says while pointing his rifle at June.

Turning back to me he grabs my arm, yanking me off the floor and starts dragging me out of the cafeteria.

Feeling his death grip on my arm as we go down the hall. Stopping before a metal door with a scanner on the left. On the door is written Restricted Ares.

Putting his hand on the screen to be scanned, causing the door to open.

Walking through the doors only to show rooms on both sides and scientists standing in the hall with tablets in their hands and looking through the glass into the rooms.

Looking at both sides, seeing that some kids are asleep on their beds and others strapped to tables.

The only thing to catch my attention was a the little girl who is sitting in a room with toys, but she has a mask on covering her mouth. She looks about six years old.

"Here." Is all he said before shoving me inside a dark room.

Closing the door behind me.

Looking up from the floor I see somebody stand in front in the darkness.

Only to see pale white eyes staring directly at me.

"Lights on!"

The lights came on and person who was standing in front of me is gone, just an empty room with a bed and a mirror.

Turning to see that the guard is standing on the other side of the glass, smirking at me.

That can't be good.

"Off!" He shouts, causing the lights to go off.

I can feel someone breathing down my neck.

Slowly turning around, only to be met with darkness. I can feel someone breathing down onto my face.

Hearing a soft growl before me. I can kind of see the person in front of me.

They're tall, taller than me. The other thing that is visible is their glowing white eyes.

"On!" The guy shouts.

As the lights went back on the person disappears.

The only type of creature who can be see in darkness and not in the light are Nightmare Demons.

They're Demons who feeds on nightmares and the energy of children. They're the one who are usually under the bed or in the closet.

But this person in front of me isn't one of them. I would've known if it was a Demon.

"You know what to do Dr Wu." Turning my head to face Dr Wu, how can a parent allow their child to be in such a place.

All the lights in the room started to flicker, going on and back off over and over again.

Causing the person to get angry and to start growling.

Each time the light went of he came closer and when the light came back on he's gone.

Backing up slowly as the lights flickers.

But this time the lights didn't come back on.

Feeling hands on my ankles, yelping when suddenly my feet are pulled out from under me. Groaning as I land face first on the floor.

Rolling over onto my back.

"You don't have to do this, I can help yo-"

I can feel the blood dripping from my nose. This motherfucker punched me in the nose.

"That's it!" I scream.

Making the bed catch on fire. It starts to spread all around the room.

Suddenly the figure bursts into flames, screaming out of pain.

The lights came back on and the mercenary and doctors burst through the doors with fire extinguishers in their hand.

Extinguishing the flames on the creature, only to see it's a guy with pitch black hair and grey eyes.

Noticing his skin started to burst into blisters.

"Turn the lights off!" Dr Wu shouts.

The lights went off, seeing Dr Wu turning on her flashlight emitting a UV light.

"Is that better Nate?" Dr Wu asks the fucker who punched me.

Shining the UV light on his arm.

"A lot. Thank you Dr Wu." He answers her.

Looking down at his arm, all the blister on his arm are almost completely healed.

"Why did you attack me?" Demanding this thing to answer me.

"S-sorry, I d-didn't mean to. The light flickering hurts and I didn't think about my actions." He replies softly, sounding so regretful about what happened.

"Sergeant Daniels, I need you to collar both of them." Dr Wu urges the mercenary to put collars on us.

Like hell he will, I will set his ass on fire.

Looking down, seeing the collar around my neck.

Fuck me.

"Lets see what this puppy can do." Sergeant Daniels says before turning the collar on from the remote in his hand.

Screaming in agony as I feel the electricity move through my body.

Sergeant Daniels just laugh wickedly turning the collar off.

My screaming calmed down when the collar stopped shocking me.

Laying on the floor in my own pool of blood and sweat. I hope it is sweat.

"I am going to kill you Daniels." I spat at his feet.

He stopped laughing and looks me dead in the eyes.

With a flick of his fingers, he turns on the collar on Max.

Screaming in pain, cursing him in languages.

"Stop that! You're going to kill him, he is the most valuable one in the bunker." Dr Wu shouts at this abominable shit goblin.

There are only two bunkers back home, the one under school and one under…HQ.

Soon after I lose consciousness.
