Ring… Ring… Ring…

A sound echoed in the small room.

" Ugh.. "

A dull voice came out from under the blanket.

Ring… Ring… Ring…

The alarm kept on ringing when finally, after a few minutes of continuous ringing a young man no older than 16, climbed out of his bed and turned the alarm off.

" Monday… "

He mumbled under his nose while walking towards the kitchen.

Making himself a fried egg he sat on one of the chairs and looked outside the window. The sun was slowly rising, illuminating a huge, beautiful city and revealing the previously almost dark streets with cars floating above the roads, people rushing somewhere with suitcases, children with backpacks going to schools.

Standing up the man did some stretches and went to put on his uniform. Leaving the seemingly gloomy apartment the man threw a last glance at the building before entering the busy street. The young man's name was Leo. His looks were above average, he had black hair and brown eyes, nothing out of ordinary. Today was his first day at the Military academy. As to why he has to go to such an academy is, because of a certain event that happened to earth 800 years ago.

800 Years ago...

Screech....

A loud sound echoed across the earth knocking every living organism unconscious.

After the sound came darkness...

After the darkness came light...

A huge meteorite illuminated the sky seemingly rapidly increasing in size.

Boooooom...

A huge object landed in the middle of North America killing millions of lives and creating tsunamis and earthquakes all around the globe.

It didn't end there. The now fallen meteorite suddenly cracked open releasing an energy that started enveloping the earth. This energy later on would be widely known as Mana. Mana didn't only envelop earth, it gravitated towards every single leaving creature - Plants, animals, humans, insects...

Scientists later on called this phenomenon as a World Awakening. Every single aspect of the world was enchanted. Plants started growing bigger and reversed Climate change, humans and animals became healthier and had longer life expectancy. Mana seemed to awaken the hidden potential in everything.

But where there is light, there must be shadow. After Mana awakened the earth strange things started to appear. 5 Purple colored circular shape figures appeared in different continents. Five new intelligent races inhabited the Earth. Demons, Orcs, Elves, Dwarfs and Magical beasts.

Demons were the race that was aggressive towards the other 4 and intended to corrupt Earth.

Elves, Orcs and Dwarfs formed an Alliance to fight against demons and stop them from devouring other planets. Demons corrupted other planets because of their cores. As soon as the planet is corrupted their King can devour it's core increasing his strength.

The only race with no affiliations was Magical Beasts. They had 4 leaders which were constantly fighting for the power in-between making them a lower threat than Demons. Their Intelligence depended on their Rank from 5 Year Old human to 25 Year Old.

Physically Elves had similar constitution to humans, but had pointy ears and extremely beautiful appearance. They had a strong connection with nature hence created civilization in Amazon Forest. Elves are considered to be strong fighter's with strong elemental affinity.

Dwarfs are similar to humans, but are relatively shorter and bulkier. They built their home in the Alps, because of ores and other resources that were hidden in the mountains. They aren't fighters they are craftsmen, dwarfs create tools that can be used in war against Demons and Magical Beasts.

Demons can take various forms depending on their Rank, but their appearance is very similar to humans. Main distinction between the two races would be that Demons have pale skin, horns and red eyes. Higher Rank demons can also have Wings, but only a few humans live long enough to tell these tales. The Demon race took over the continent of Australia and built a Kingdom named Umbra.

Orcs are bulkier and stronger than humans they also have dark green skin. Orcs formed a civilization in Asia. They specifically requested to live there, because they wanted to launch attacks against demons and be in the first lines in case the all-out war happened. They were fighters from birth. To humans they reminded Vikings or Berserkers from video games.

Humans were forced to live in Europe, because they haven't used Mana and weren't strong enough to fight against Demons yet. They joined the alliance, but humanity's military strength was pitifully low compared to the other races. Weapons, Bullets, Nukes and other military technology didn't work on creatures who could wield Mana. They tried to use an Atomic bomb on the Umbra kingdom, but it was simply deflected by one of the border guards.

Magical beasts have forms of different animals, breeds between them and other unknown creatures. They massacred everything they saw in North America and claimed territory as their own.

All the previously mentioned races have hierarchy systems.

Elves are ruled by the Elven Queen, because of her wisdom and power.

Demons - Demon King, because of his strength and ruthlessness.

Orcs - Fortis, because of his willpower and strength.

Dwarfs - Sapient, because of his creativity.

Magical beasts - 4 Mythical Beasts ( They fight for power ), because of their power.

Humans - An Emperor was appointed when humans joined an Alliance. He was chosen, because he was from a noble family before the Awakening and was educated as well as talented in leading.

Today it's year 3042 and the war against the Demon race is getting harder and harder, because a few centuries back demons learnt how to use humans as a weapon. They started manipulating humans into signing contracts with them. They use desire, greed and other Sins to attract them to the dark side.

Human who signs a contract with a demon is called Obsessed. The signer will lose his humanity and emotions. The only emotions that will prevail will be 7 great Sins. The Obsessed will become a lackey for the demon and will do all things according to the demon's will.

Alliance and Humanity took drastic action against this and created special military academies. They implemented a new rule stating that every 16 Year Old human has to attend these academies. In the academy they will be taught how to use Mana and become more resilient to manipulation. They are groomed to become a soldier that is flexible and can defend against or attack the Umbra kingdom.

Today's world is pretty simple - the higher one's strength the more fame he has.

Leo is an orphan who lost his family because of a demon's attack 13 years ago. His parents were killed while they were sleeping and his older brother was kidnapped. Leo's only goal is to become strong enough to venture alone in the Umbra kingdom and find his brother.

Everyday he shed blood and tears training his body trying to enroll into a good military academy, so he could get taught by professionals, receive the best cultivation materials and advance in ranks quickly. Leo's plan was halfway completed, because now he's on his way to the second best academy in humanity's domain - Sword Academy.

Leo got into this academy, because of his strong will power and hard work. Even though he didn't have any connections that would help him enroll in the academy, he still got accepted, which was quite rare nowadays. Even though he was at the bottom of the list, he was still happy.

Today is his first day at the academy and his talent with affinity will be measured.
