1 Chapter 1: Huh? It's Tonight?

Nighttime. At night, the forest would usually be filled with the growls of animals and the sound of insects.

However, tonight, rain pour down from the dark sky and chilling winds howl. The creatures of the forest had all taken shelter and sleep. The only sounds that could be heard now were the raindrops that landed onto the earth and the rustling of leaves.

Amidst the chilling and raining weather of the night, a small figure made its way through dense forest. Under the darkness of the night and the cover of the rain, one could not see the exact appearance of this figure. But, upon closer inspection, one would able to tell that this figure was a child.

Small, scrawny, pitiful. Those were the words that could be used to describe this child's lone figure that walking through the forest. The child neither walked slowly or quickly; just at a normal pace, as though the child was taking a casual stroll through the forest.

However, heavy rain poured down from above, freezing winds slam from the sides, and dense mud attached itself to the child's feet. Yet, nothing slowed the child down nor stopped the child from going where it wanted.

And apparently the child did have a destination as it was going through the dense forest, West.

...

On the outskirts of the State of Green Water, a little, quaint village was enduring heavy rain and harsh winds.

The villagers had all retreated into their respected home. However, in one particular home that was noisier than the rest, a person was madly shouting a storm and boomed like thunder.

In that home were four people: a short old man, a scrawny old man, a young lady with dirt on her face, and a young man with red hair and eyes.

"Screw this! Screw it all!" The young lady madly howled, "Why the hell are we even still her in this village, huh? Just how much longer do we have to wait!?"

As she screamed, she pointed her long, right index finger at the short old man.

The short old man merely grumbled and said, "Calm down, kiddo. Why do you have to be so mad? Just hurry up and wipe off that dirt off your face already."

He grabbed a nearby wet, clean towel and passed it toward the young lady. The young lady took the towel and wiped her face clean with it before throwing it at the short old man's face. In fact, she threw it so hard, the old man slightly leaned backwards and fell on his bottom.

"Y-You brat!" The short old man threw the towel onto the floor and stood up with rage. The young lady snorted, "Bring it, you old meat ball!"

Sensing the situation getting a little out of hand, the young man and the scrawny old man stepped forward. The young man held the young lady back while the scrawny old man held his old companion back.

After a few minutes of yelling and cursing, everyone fell onto the floor from exhaustion. The scrawny old man was the first to recover. "Both of you are like children! Stop fighting all the time!"

He turned toward the young lady. "You, Hell Butterfly! Have more respect for your senior! Don't forget who it was that shield and protected you so many years ago. Did you forget that grace was bestow upon you all those years ago? Act more like your age will you? Look at Blood Shadow for example. He's far younger than you, but at least he knows how to act mature like his age!"

The young lady named 'Hell Butterfly' lowered her head before giving a glare to the red haired young man behind her. Blood Shadow avoided her gaze and gave a helpless smile.

The short old man look at Hell Butterfly and gave a smirk. However, he was soon hit in the head by the scrawny old man.

"B-Big Bro!?"

"What? Did you think you're not in trouble too? Don't play dumb with me; I know you soaked that towel in lemon juice and use a special herb to masked its scent!" The scrawny old man raised his fist again and gave the short old man a through beating.

Chaos and loud noises once again emerge from the house. More than a hour had to pass before the everyone in the house calmed down again.

"Hah... we've been here for centuries already. This life of a mortal is relaxing and all, but to do it for so long it can get boring," Hell Butterfly said. "Now I understand why mortals choose to die; It's to escape this boredom."

She received a smack on the head by the scrawny old man. "This kid... your brain is all mush, huh?"

Hell Butterfly pouted while thinking to herself, "Yeah, because you've hit so many times!"

The scrawny old man turned to the short old man. "Mythos, how many moons are left until we reach a thousand?"

Hell Butterfly and Blood Shadow both perked their ears and remained quiet to listen carefully. The short old man took out a strange beaded tool. He began making calculations with the tool. After some time, he let out a howl.

"What's wrong?" Blood Shadow said.

"W-We've already reach nine-hundred ninety-nine moons! There's only one left!" The short old man shouted excitedly.

The other people exclaimed in joy as well. "Really!"

"Quick, check when the thousandth one will come!"

The short old man then continue making some more calculation with a smile on his face. The other three people were smiling as well. After some minutes, the old man was done with his calculations. However, his smiling face was replaced with a complex look.

"Er..."

"Well?" Said the other three.

"Er... so the next full moon is coming soon, really soon in fact. It's just..."

"Just?"

The old man smiled bitterly, "The thousandth full moon will supposedly appear tonight."

"Huh? It's tonight?"
