2 Chapter 2: Why Me?

Never in my wildest dreams would I ever receive this "three months' worth of labor" money. But at the back of my mind, I'm already shopping! So, before I could even spend this blessing in disguise, I reached my bank's and the entertainment's customer service if the transfer was legitimately made.

The big question is why. Why the fuck does it have to be me? There must be some shit I need to do to return the favor, huh? That might be the psychology of this wire transfer.

By this time when my Twitter statistics are swelling, I should be extremely careful. A lot of eyes are observing my next moves. I don't wanna ruin this good start with some dumb black props to taint my financial decency, LMAO!

And, surprise! It's legit!

Moments after this GREAT news, Mr. @seia_96 followed me. Unless I follow him back, I'll never get the chance to know him and my hunch that he has a connection with this wire transfer.

So, to avoid suspicions from the community, I announced that I will be following ten lucky accounts randomly every month for the sake of communication. Lol, communication, my ass. I cannot even stand talking to a lot of people. But before I do that, I have to grab the second meal of the day. It's a lucky day because Jiro cooked Korean style fried chicken for lunch two hours before he went to work.

*beep*

Speaking of the devil, Jiro sent a message.

"What's up, bird app?"

Seconds after, he's now calling.

"Hey, Kohana, what's—"

"Jiro! You won't believe what I'm about to tell you right now!"

"You don't have to shout!"

"Guess who's shouting now?" I said and he paused to give way to my lines.

"Bank transfer, Benjiro! I received fifty fucking thousand pesos from a stranger after this resurrection!"

"Huh? That's... that's great! You can quit your job now!" he laughed as he mocked my pitch.

"I'm serious, though? And I've confirmed it from the bank?" I composed myself.

"But have you eaten your lunch?" he diverted the topic as if he ain't interested.

"I'm taking lunch right now. What time will you be back by tonight?"

"10 p.m. I guess."

"Okay. Then. About the money--"

"You know what, Kohana, if you need money, I'll lend you some. Hahaha! Bye, I have to go back to work. Lock the doors, aight?"

He hunged up.

Good Lord, even I wouldn't believe such news unless some publishing company scouted and signed me with a bonus.

*beep*

Sei, the handler of seia_96, sent another message.

"Hi Hajuko. I hope you are happy with the simple present I gave you. If I may suggest, please buy a new laptop. Have a good day! ( • ̀ω•́ )"

That shit creeped me out. Am I being hacked, scammed, or something?

My paranoia attacked. Thanks to this Sei and the coffee I drank three hours ago.

I checked his profile to see suspicious tweets. If I am not under the influence of espresso, I might forgive myself for imagining too much. But as I observe Sei's profile, I realized the tweets seemed to be all about me; as Hajuko and as Kohana.

I scrolled through thousands of tweets. It dated me from two years ago until today.

"I saw her at Subway today. Ugh, I'm so lucky."

"Why did you stop writing? :("

"It's been a busy week. My body might be sore but I'll never get tired of reading your story hehe."

"How can I get your attention without drawing others' attention? :("

"Samgyup today with the gang. Look who's here hehe."

The last tweet almost had me leaving this earthly body. It's a photo tweet of me and Jiro's back eating samgyupsal last Sunday.

Where are the freaking hidden cameras?

"Jiro, I'm worried sick for myself! Someone might be spying on me?" I sent my brother this text message hoping he would come back home earlier than 10 p.m.

I am seriously scared.

But I know, for sure, that I don't deserve this money.

***

It's 9:45 p.m. So he really will come home late, huh.

*beep*

I saw a message from Sei.

"Why did you send it back to me? :(" he said.

I have never sent him a message, but this time, I have to.

"I don't even know where this money came from, and you'd expect me to receive it wholeheartedly? No offense, I don't even know you. And if you are really an employee of that company, you should at least bring up some ethics and introduce yourself."

"Is 50,000 pesos too low? :("

Oh, God. I can't believe this guy.

*beep*

He sent another message, and it's a fucking sad eye selfie photo. What the hell does he want me to react?

"Where did you get the money from?" I asked out of curiosity.

"From hardwork. Kekeke."

"But why?"

"Nothing. It's my way to appreciate you."

"You know what, I cannot accept this. But thank you for an extraordinary way of appreciating me, Mr. Sei. Bye."

"Wait, wait. I just really wanna get closer to you."

Heol. Is money nowadays a way to get to know a person?

"Thank you but I will politely turn down. Please refrain from sending me the money again."

"But, Hajuko, do you mind if I call you right now?"

"Hey!"

"Holy crap, Jiro!"

I didn't realize my brother was right behind, peeking at Sei and I's conversation.

"Have you withdrawn the money?" he jokingly said as he slammed his butt on the couch right next to me.

"Never mind. You don't even believe your sister's claims. Are you even my brother?" I rolled my eyes and shut my laptop down. He shrugged his shoulders and left a mocking smiles.

I guess I just have to ignore what has happened today. Although this Sei guy successfully creeped the shit out of me, I'm gonna let this slide.
