Now that the station was cleared, I can finally close my eyes. The fight made me realize that even if I can destroy zombies relatively easily, I was still a teenager and my stamina reserves weren't developed enough for me to continue to fight for more than one hour if I push myself.

While I was forced by my own body to sleep, the rest of my people carried the zombie's bodies outside of the metro station to burn them. Ace closed the gate towards the next station as we didn't want to have a surprise from more freaks.

Two hours later, the whole station was cleared of any dead body that was left after our fight. This station won't be used for now, at least not as a house space. We may use it as a forward base of operation.

I wake up after sleeping for one whole day. From what Ellen told me, my body was too exhausted so it shut down itself to recover. She also scolds me for being a reckless idiot, but I know that what I did was idiotic in a sense. Just as Paul and Jon said to me yesterday, one war can't be won without sacrifices and people will die, and I know that I won't be able to save them.

After I managed to get away from Ellen, I made my way towards Brian and Lily, how were guarding the entrance that leads to the surface. Both of them saw me slowly making my way towards them and helped me get to them faster.

Lily: Morning, you ok?

Brian: You scared us, bro. What happens?

Eric: Exhaustion. Sorry for making everyone worry about me. I'm already feeling better.

Brian: It's all good. So this is our new home?

Eric: Yeah, at least we will make it our home.

Lily: Well, it needs a bit of working here and there, before we can truly call it home, but it's a nice place. Hidden from prying eyes and can be defended easily. The gates can't be opened without enough explosives to take down the tunnel while the metal fence can be a pain in the ass for any enemy to get through. All in all, this is a nice place to stay in this fucked up world. There are enough rooms here to make different facilities to survive and with the space that we have, we can even make a garden to have fresh food. We will need tools to make it work, but we can make it.

Brian: We also don't have to worry too much about the zombies attacking us. They won't be able to get through the fence or the gates.

Eric: I know, this why I decided to clear this place. We can find a place outside, but the hordes and the people will attack us. Scavenging for food and water won't be a long term solution. That's why I thought for a while before I made this decision. Atlanta is a dead city and now many survivors were left alive and as for the zombies? We can deal with them with guerrilla tactics. Andrew and Doug should be able to create modified weapons and even vehicles.

Lily: You are thinking of making this place a long term home.

Eric: This shit whole named earth, won't recover from this apocalypse and we as the last humans should live as long as possible. Now tell me, this place is the best place to stay hidden, and also we have lots and lots of space to build our community. We can even extend to another station. Our generators will work for a month without any problems and after that, we will have to fill them up. I'll let you two alone, see you later guys.

After I talked with these two, I decided to head towards the new armory. Paul, Lee, Tanaka, and Kenny decided to transform the guard's office into an armory which was a good call as we can have weapons all around the base tossed here and there. I was surprised to see that Tanaka and Amanda get along with the rest of my group. Well truth to be told, both of them are nice people and they even help us clear the next station. So, it kind of normal for them, to be accepted relatively easily by the group. Of course, we didn't forget to at least keep an eye on them. You don't know when this move will save your life.

When I arrived at the armory, I saw Tanaka and Kenny discussing something.

Eric: Hey, everything alright?

Tanaka: No problem here. Glad to see you are up.

Kenny: Eric, you scared us back there. Glad to see that you are all right. We were talking about our lives before the zombies appeared.

Eric: I'm glad that we can still be like before the apocalypse, at least for a few moments.

Tanaka: True, I can't believe that we have to for our lives. Well, now, we can have breathing with this secure place, we won't have to worry about our lives as much as before. Oh, by the way, Paul said that Andrew will arrive in four hours. You should rest until they arrive.

Eric: Thanks. I'll find a place to rest for a while. See you later.

As I made my way towards a nearby sleeping bag, I saw Lee talking on the walkie- talkie When I arrived near him, I overheard him saying something about some idiotic trio.

Eric: Hey Lee, what's up?

Lee: Eric, our girls are trapped in a store because three idiots drove their car right in front of a horde. Amanda and Olivia are alright, they managed to hide before the horde saw them. As for the three idiots… they all are in a tank.

Eric: Tell me how are they looking?

Lee: One black middle-aged man, one teenager, and an officer.

Eric: Fuck me. I know them.

Lee: What are we going to do now?

Eric: Get that tank and save our girls obviously and save the trio as a bonus.

Lee: You fought with one of them?

Eric: I don't want to talk about it.

Just as I was about to head to the armory, Paul's voice was heard.

Paul: The black man, Morgan, beat him.

Eric: Well, he managed to catch me by surprise.

Paul: So, how many will you take to save them?

Eric: Tanaka, you and Jon.

Paul: Just us four …it will be a tough ride.

Lee: I want to come with you guys. I want to help you. The more the better, right?

Paul: An extra gun will surely help.

Eric: Then we should leave. We have some people to save.

Paul: Just say that you want that tank already.
