Chapter 1Chapter 1 : Precursors of Eri Yurin

"Prof. Yurin, have you tried to report to Arceological Institute today?"

A man is rushing over Eri who had just open the door of her office.

"What do you mean? I haven't informed about that, Prof. Gaza." Eri was curious about the news she has heard to Prof. Gaza

She went to their department to personally ask her department head.

"Good morning, Prof. Yurin. I was about to assigned you to dig something about the ruins of Mayan Civilization. Most of your team focused on the Egytian Civilization. And since you are the only one left. I am assigning you."

"Dr. Robert, but...."

"It's up to you. You are the candidate for the Department Head position you must prove yourself worth it for this position or else...." Professor Hans interrupted their talking.

"Good morning everybody." He greeted with a smirk in his smile.

"There you are Proffessor Hans. Do you have any predictions about the success of this project?" Dr. Roberts welcomed the presence of Professor Hans.

Eri is confused about their topics. Not even a single clue comes to her mind. She was supposed to conduct a research about the fossils of Chaldean Civilization for a month. When suddenly there were changes occurred. And now, the whole department is making a hard time for her promotion.

Eri Yurin is a Japanese-American Archeologist from Asia. But because she made a remarkable discovery in the tomb of Gilgamesh year 1967 wherein she had just graduated from Connecticut College. Her popularity spread throughout the Archeological Society. She surpassed those who were cramming on their field which made an impact on her career.

"I am leaving, Dr. Roberts." She walked away without noticing her.

She left the two men talking privately.

She feels so upset this day. It seems like everyone is playing a role of "mean" to her.

She is driving her car when something bumped into it.

"Geeez! What's that?"

It was late at night. The air is so freezing that she get her coat to cover her shivering body. It was a day full of stress for her. It's her first time to work with her seniors. She finds it so exhausting.

She looked around. Nobody's there. She carefully searched where did her car hit by. But she found nothing.

"What was that?" She asked herself but fear comes to her senses. So she hurriedly go back to her car.

When her car left, a man in black appeared from the dark. Cigarette was stepped on with a sigh from a man with gnitted teeth.

"I can't let you off easily. I'm relieved you are assigned to search for Mayan's. It's a death trap for you, Eri." And a man smirked.

"Finally home." Eri lay down on her bed. She feels her body became heavy.

"I'm sick." She sighed.

She is living alone. Her parents went missing after a tour from Egypt. She's so young to have a rough life like that.

Eri is an only child of Yurin family. She was left alone. She never met her relatives from her both parents. It was a mystery for her unravelling the identity of her family.

Her phone rung.

"Sissy, where are you?"

Her eyes still snoring.

"Avira, why you call so late?"

"Sorry, Sissy. I haven't seen you this past few weeks. I am so worried." The voice from the other line seemed worried.

"No. I'm fine. I'll visit you tomorrow don't worry."

"Sure?"

"Yes. I have to sleep. I still have work tomorrow. Good night." And she hang the call.

Avira is her closest friend. They treated each other more than best friends. Avira lives a life full of pleasures. She gets what she want. Her parents run a business in their city. And she was a known lady at their place. But Eri is her true friend.

She woke at 3AM in the midnight.

She placed her hand on her head.

"Did I dream a terrible one? Who is that man? What was that?"

It is not weird for her to dream but to dream a man is something odd for her.

She stands and open the refrigerator.

She drank a water. And went back for sleep.

"Ohhh gosh! I'm late." She hurriedly drove her car. She woke up late this morning.

It is the day that her boss will be formally announcing their assignment before the year ends.

"Good day everyone. I'm glad you are all here for this little announcement." Dr. Roberts speaks in enthusiasm.

Eri arrived on time to witness the speak of their big boss.

"Eri Yurin will be assigned to search for the Mayan Civilization." He added.

Everyone applause.

Everyone knows that she made a remarkable discovery in the tomb of Gilgamesh. The myth of Summerian Civilization. Since then she's always on the headlines.

Eri stands and bow.

"I'm sure she'll make it again." A commentator at the back says.

"Professor Hans will excavate in the Egyptian Civilization." Dr. Roberts added.

Eri was shocked.

"So are they punishing me or something else?" She asked herself.

The announcement took hours.

"Avira, can you meet up today?" Eri is calling her friend.

"Sure. Where?"

"Here at El Cafè Mucho."

A few minutes passed. Avira came.

"Sissy, what happened to you? You seem so devastated?" Avira says it exaggeration.

"I think so." She speak so lame.

"I feel so fishy about our assignment. I knew I am the newest and the youngest. But to assign me to a task were everyone refuses. Something's wrong." She speak in low voice.

"Sissy, don't worry. I know you can do it." Avira cheers her up.

A man from a car holding a phone is spying on them.

A few seconds Avira's phone ring.

"Honey?"

"Where are you?"

"I'm with my best friend."

"Oh. I see. What are you talking about?"

"Huh?? You're weird honey. We're talking about cosy things you know."

"Ok. I'll see you then. Bye."

And a car has passed.

"You have boyfriend?" Eri take a sip on her coffee.

"Ohhh. I haven't tell you yet. Yes I have. We've been together for almost two months." Avira speaks so proud.

"Really." Eri looks bitter.

"So, where does he work?" Avira added.

"He is a businessman. I don't know." And she laughed.

"Aishhh. Actually that was your 35th boyfriend." And they both laughed.

"So when will you start excavating the tombs from that creepy place?" Avira asked.

Eri almost drop her water.

"Why do you have to say that?!" Eri scream. She felt a little bit scary when Avira says those words.

"Sorry. Haha"

Hours passed by and they both parted to each other.

The Princess and Her Rough-Rider Khan

Petite Princess VS Rough Khan On their wedding day, Yelu Yan told Li Xianyun that apart from affection, he could provide her with endless wealth and honor. After the marriage, he indeed kept his promise, cherishing her in the palm of his hand. Little did he know, the more he cherished her, the deeper she burrowed into his heart, right to the very top. Not long after the political marriage with the Khitans, Li Xianyun gradually noticed earth-shattering changes around her: Initially, the commoners who disliked her began to worship her as a deity... The court officials accusing her of bewitching their lord were now pleading with her to consummate the marriage with the Khan... The most perplexing of all was her husband in name; wasn’t he the one who said he wouldn't give her emotional affection? Why was he always following her around? Little theater scene 1: One day, Yelu Yan cornered Li Xianyun against the wall. “Why are you avoiding this Khan?” “They say you might have taken a liking to your servant.” “Remove ‘might’, isn’t it obvious enough from how this Khan acts?” “But you said you wouldn’t give your servant emotional affection.” Yelu Yan held his forehead; he had indeed said too many foolish things. “The Han people always say that one should start a family and then establish a career; clearly, the two are not in conflict.” Little theater scene 2: The sun had risen high, yet Yelu Yan was still clinging to Li Xianyun. “Get up quickly, I have to leave. There are patients on the street waiting for my consultation, the good fields to the west need irrigation, the homestead plots in the east need measuring, and I have to oversee the silk reeling and dyeing... Uh...” “Your husband is a patient, don’t you care for him?” Li Xianyun looked at the man tough enough to rival ten bulls and was utterly speechless.
