2 Registration

The prestige of the Royal Academy is indeed indisputable. Just by merely looking at the throng of people lining up to register for the examination wanting to try their luck, Sheng Wenruo was overwhelmed.

This...

Would she really have to fight with all these people tomorrow?

Most of the registrants ranged from ages 10 to 17 years old and their cultivation level had at least reached the 3rd level of the First Realm, meaning they can already absorb the spiritual energy in their surroundings and gather it in their dantian to turn it into their True Qi.

Looking down at her frail and skinny body, Sheng Wenruo's resolve slightly wavered. She could not help but compare herself to these healthy and strong youths who were brimming with energy. She could already imagine that with just a flick of their fingers, they would probably send her flying and she would most likely ascend to the heavens!

Why must she be reincarnated in this body of all people?!

Sheng Wenruo lamented in her heart.

The original owner of this body died because of a grave illness. It was only because she had taken over this body that 'Sheng Wenruo' managed to live until now.

They have the same name, but why do their fates differ so much?!

Even if Sheng Wenruo wanted to find another body to take over, she could not do so. She could not, at least for now. If she really wanted to enter another reincarnation process, she needed sufficient strength.

But before thinking about that, she needed to find a way to pass this upcoming exam to get a headway to her plan.

Seeing that there were still a lot of people signing up, Sheng Wenruo decided to leave first to get something to eat and go back to their previous dwelling to pack up her stuff.

When she came back to the training grounds where the registration was being held, the crowd had thinned out and there were only a few people left in the line.

While waiting for her turn, Sheng Wenruo observed the people around her, paying special attention to the royal guards manning up the registration booth. Although her body was frail, her eyes were much sharper than normal people. She could see things clearly at a great distance.

As the registration was nearing its end, some royal guards started sorting out the registration forms. Sheng Wenruo saw them classifying the registrants based on the level of their cultivation and their element attribute. The highest cultivation among the registrants was at the early-stage of the 4th level of the First Realm.

Unknowingly, it was already her turn to register. Sheng Wenruo stood nervously in front of the royal guard in-charge of the registration, afraid that she might get chased away because of her weak constitution.

"Fill in this form."

The royal guard robotically said and pushed a form in front of her on the table. He didn't even bother to look up at her as he got back to sorting out the registration forms.

Phew! I gotta make this quick then. It would be bad if they would not accept my registration form just because I looked too frail.

Reading the form laid out in front of her, Sheng Wenruo picked up the brush and dipped it into the ink.

The registration form was merely asking for the person's basic information like name, age, element attribute and level of cultivation.

As for why there their sexes were not asked, it is because in this era, sex is nothing but a way of categorizing men and women based on their biological differences. So what if you are a woman? It doesn't necessarily mean that you are any weaker than a man if you are a woman. The people in this era place great importance to strength and power. The strong can do what they want and the weak suffer what they must.

Even then, there is really no such thing as equality for men and women. The sects and clans would still prefer to take in men if they have to choose amongst those with the same strength.

Thinking this way, Sheng Wenruo decided and quickly filled out the form.

Name: Sheng Wen

Age: 12

Element attribute: ???

Cultivation level: Late-stage of the 3rd level, First Realm

Sheng Wenruo chose not to use her real name. Although it seemed that there was only a three-word difference, this could make her pass off as a male.

As for her element attribute...

In her defense, she was indeed clueless about it.

Because they were not affiliated with any of the clans here in Xinyuan City, Sheng Wenruo had not validated what element attribute she possessed.

Element attribute refers to a person's natural affinity with an element. Every person is born with at least one, allowing them to execute their element attribute-based battle techniques easier and with less expenditure of their True Qi.

But when her Grandpa Zhen tested her before, the result showed that she did not have any element attribute!

In her previous life, Sheng Wenruo had heard about someone possessing multiple element attributes. But never did she hear a thing about someone not possessing any!

Her only consolation was that this body could absorb the spiritual energy in the surroundings as easy as she was breathing. But there's another problem. Even though she could absorb a large amount of spiritual energy easily, she could not store everything in her dantian and turn it into her True Qi.

True Qi is reminiscent of water, whereas the dantian is the main bucket containing the water. Once the True Qi overflows from one's dantian, they can enrich their body and organs, causing their physical body to become powerful.

However, whenever Sheng Wenruo absorbed spiritual energy and directed it to her dantian, she felt like she was pouring water in a bucket full of holes. Thus, no matter how much spiritual energy she absorbed, she could not breakthrough to the 4th level of the First Realm.

Sighing in her heart, she submitted the form and quickly left the place without giving the assigned royal guard a chance to react.
