What will you feel if you suddenly find out that the woman you tried so hard to protect could defend herself well even without you?

Shock! Confused! Bewildered!

Fang felt all of it as he watched Hou Wei Yan enter the hospital room and obediently receive treatment from Mao Chen.

He knew Xing Mei Yi taught her a thing or two with regards to fighting, but he never expected she was this good at it. She always appeared delicate, warm, angelic, and gentle like she was someone who needs the utmost protection. But in truth, she was a person that needs to be feared!

Watching how she defeated those men made him feel that his position as her guard is threatened!

"Does it hurt?" Mao Chen gently asked as he began dabbing the antiseptic in her wounded hands. Her aggressive punches led to some peels of skin in her hands which caused some bleeding.

"No" Hou Wei Yan immediately answered which surprised Mao Chen a little bit. Even though it's a small injury, it should still sting for a little bit yet she appeared used to the pain. Does she always fight and end up wounded in her hands?! "Where's my little brother?"

"Outside" Fang Tao answered as he continued to observe her at the corner of the room with his hands crossed in his chest. "The kid's brother arrived"

Hou Wei Yan nodded her head before she stared directly at him for a little favor. "Can you please ask Shin to drive them home?"

"I already asked him" he answered without haste before he sighed. He needs to know the full detail of what happened so he can compile his report properly. "Madame, what in the world happened?"

"We got cornered so I fought them" she nonchalantly answered making Fang Tao even more appalled.

No matter how he thinks about it, her fighting capability is beyond what they expected. Even if she is taught by Xing Mei Yi, she needs practical experiences to be this adept in fighting and to actually knock out such large men! She appears to be a seasoned fighter but where in the world did she gain those experiences to make her this good?! "Where did you learn to fight in such a way?"

"From my mother" Hou Wei Yan answered honestly. Fang stared at her hard, but he couldn't see through her and couldn't decipher if it was true or not. Nonetheless, he trusted her words and listened intently to what she will say. "She taught me various things when I was young and when I went to America. I'm also proficient in other martial arts because I studied in Jingying with Liu Shan and the others"

Hearing this, Fang Tao couldn't help but sigh. "You should have waited for me before you went running after your brother"

"But if I did, we could have lost him"

"Still, that was very dangerous" he remarked, his gaze both worried and furious. What if one of them, brought out a gun?! or they had more men?! She managed to escape but that fight was a matter of life and death! She could have died while fighting those men and by the time they arrived, it would already be too late!

"I know" she muttered as she looked at him apologetically. She knows she's in the wrong and Fang Tao deserves her apology for bringing him another headache. "I'm sorry"

Fang could only sigh at her reply before he nodded his head in acceptance. She didn't need to apologize too much because he was at fault too. As they finally settled their affair, someone came barging inside the room with his hair in a total mess. "Big Sister!"

"Xiao Shen" Hou Wei Yan gently called out as she opened up her arms. Hou Jun Shen immediately came towards her and hugged her tightly. Her warmth made him sigh a breath of relief. They managed to come out alive and his sister wasn't that badly hurt. "Are you really okay? Are you hurt anywhere?"

"Sis, I'm fine" he said with a chuckle. What is she talking about now?! She was the one that's clearly hurt. "I wasn't the one who fought all those things by myself. In fact, I should be the one asking you if you're okay"

Hou Wei Yan smiled at his concern before she ruffled his hair. "I'm fine"

"No, you're not" Fang Tao interjected as he watched Mao Chen finish up bandaging her hands. "How was it, Doctor Mao?"

"Just a few peels of skin. It will heal in a few days as long as you keep on cleaning the wound" Mao Chen calmly reported. Luckily, she knew how to dodge attacks well and was able to minimize the attacks she received. Though, she wasn't able to dodge all attacks she still managed to only get a small scratch. "The knife wound on your lower legs is a bit of concern though. I stitched it up but it may still leave a scar"

"Thank you, Doctor Mao"

Mao Chen smiled at her before he packed up his things and walk towards the door. "Leave the bandage for now"

Once Mao Chen left the room, Hou Jun Shen looked at his sister with curiosity. After witnessing how she fights, he immediately noticed that the great change she had. "Big Sister, I know you like fighting with mother and you fought a lot but this is my first time witnessing you fight like this"

"Fight like this?" she curiously asked. She fought the same way. Whatever moves she pulled out was taught to her by Xing Mei Yi and she had always used it every time she fights. "Why? What's different from my fighting in the past?"

"You used to calmly fight while biting your tongue" he immediately answered. The Hou Wei Yan he knows fights silently, like a ninja or something. But how she fought the thugs was something new to him. Their mother often talks when she fights but what Hou Wei Yan did is beyond that. "But now, you're tongue is unrestrained and certainly untamed"

"Oh" she said with a chuckle. So this is what he said by change. She indeed found virtue in fighting silently in the past, but after she met certain people in America and expanded her knowledge in warfare, she disregarded her principles and went to the most convenient way taught to her.

"Someone told me that the best way to fight is by provoking the enemy and messing with their head. The angrier they get the better" she added as she ruffled Hou Jun Shen's hair once more. What she said made Fang Tao curious once more.

They often use this because once a person loses their composure, their attack weakens and their movements become predictable. That's why losing their emotions in a fight is considered death to them. But who in the world taught her this? Xing Mei Yi? Liu Shan?

"Really?"

"Yeah" she answered with a huge smile on her face. She was already imagining the image of the one who helped her conquer her inner demons and she was wondering what expression he will wear if he learns that she was proudly talking about him. "He also told me that enjoying a fight is the best course of action to retain the experience"

Noticing the smile in her face as she retells his teachings, Hou Jun Shen can't help but ask for his identity. "Who is this someone?"

"Hmmm" she hummed making Fang Tao and Hou Jun Shen overly curious of him. Who is he? He appears to be an important person in her life. Hou Jun Shen thought he was her boyfriend…while Fang shivered at the thought that his Boss has a rival that already made it past her barriers!

They were expecting she would answer one of the two but Hou Wei Yan chortled and decided to play with them for his identity is something she cannot blurt out in the open. "A really really shameless person"

"Han Yu Shou?" Hou Jun Shen immediately asked making his sister look at the window and laugh.

Fang Tao looked at her seriously. Han Yu Shou couldn't have done it. They had recently reunited so how could she be so adept at it. Besides, her verbal war is brutal, unlike Han Yu Shou who likes to joke around and ruin their mental state by annoying them.

"No" she replied after she finally calmed down her laughter. He's on another stratum as Han Yu Shou. Heck, if Han Yu Shou would face him, he would surely win in terms of shamelessness. He knows very well how to jest someone and he wouldn't hesitate to call them names! "Someone worse than him"

"That's terrible" her brother remarked as he shivered. Han Yu Shou is already a fearsome beast, if someone is far worse than him, just how terrifying can they be! "To think someone could topple Han Yu Shou. I thought that if he was second no one would dare go first"

"Hmm" she hummed once more with the thought of his toothy smile and his terrible way of addressing her. No one in their right mind would call someone their daughter even though they're not blood-related and are close in age. Even Han Yu Shou would fear her fist, but he didn't so she's not sure how to retaliate. She's always left defenseless when it comes to him and she could only laugh at the remembrance of his unfathomable patience. "Terrible indeed"

Fang who was observing her intently could only frown in concern. A certain man made her talk in such a way. If Ji Li Zhao learns of his identity, he was sure an interrogation would take place. But why aren't they aware of his existence? Why isn't he included in their report!? Did the Xing cover him up!? [No. Princess Xing favors our Boss. She wouldn't hide such valuable information from him after all the favors Ji Li Zhao did for her]

[So how in the world did he escape our clutches!?]

"Anyway, you little bad wolf, you still have a lot of things to tell me" she suddenly blurted out making Fang Tao halt his train of thoughts. Hou Wei Yan looked at Hou Jun Shen and sternly began her interrogation. "Do you usually run around the city when someone calls for your help?"

"No" he answered without hesitation. Hou Wei Yan carefully observed him and noticed that his conviction is quite strong.

"Really?"

"Mn" he answered once more as he nod his head. He always spends his time either holed up in his studies or practicing for their fencing tournament. Even his closest of friends would have a hard time convincing him to go out and join their gimmicks. He only made an exception today because the one who asked for his help is Cheng Han. "I only did that today because he was my best friend"

"Xiao Shen, it's okay to help but you should never forget to consider your safety as well" Hou Wei Yan began as she looked at him warmly and gently made him realize that what he did tonight wasn't fully alright. "What will I do if you suddenly went missing or you suddenly got brought to the hospital? Before you decide to do something so dangerous, you should think of the people who cares for you. We'll be devastated if you get hurt"

"Big Sister" he called out with an apologetic tone. He knows very well his fault for his evening and he's already lamenting over it.

"Big Sister should always remember that as well. No matter how you justify your actions, you still placed your life in peril" he suddenly retorted making Hou Wei Yan flinch. She never thought he would retaliate and use the fight that took place earlier against her. Fang Tao who heard what he said nodded his head on the sideline which Hou Wei Yan involuntarily saw. She could only smile sheepishly and listen to Hou Jun Shen's nagging. "What would I do if you got badly hurt protecting me? So please, stop running straight to trouble and cause all of us to worry"

After hearing this, Hou Wei Yan smiled and pulled him in another hug. Truly, he's now a grown-up man and any trace of his crybaby and whiny baby brother are no longer there. "My Xiao Shen is so mature now, he even cares for me to this extent. Where did my cute baby brother go?"

"Big Sister" Hou Jun Shen whined as he tried to make her stop messing his hair more.

She merely laughed at his actions before standing up and offering her hand. Well, there may still be a little bit of her whiny baby brother left in Hou Jun Shen. "Come. We'll bring you back to Lipin"

"No. I'm okay" he said as he stood up as well.

Hou Wei Yan smiled before calling out his name gently. "Xiao Shen"

"Fine"

"Anyway, how are the twins doing? I wasn't able to visit them because of my hectic schedule. I also heard Liu Shan invited you guys but Father disapproved" she asked once they exited the hospital room. She was deeply concerned because she didn't have much time to check on them. She was deeply reliant on Ran Ai's reports and because she said everything was fine, she trusted her. But what Liu Shan said about her Father disapproving of the invitation bothered her deeply. "Is everything okay there?"

"Yeah" he calmly answered as he looked her straight in the eye. "Everything's fine. You don't have to worry, Big Sis"

"Are you sure?"

"Certainly" he said with a smile making Hou Wei Yan dispel her worry. Her little brother won't possibly hide anything from her so she trusted him. "I'll try to bring them here sometimes and visit you"

Hearing this made Hou Wei Yan extremely happy. She misses the twins but because of her conflicting schedules and distance from the Hou Estate, she wasn't able to visit them. "That would be great"

It was already 12 in the evening when a man in his 30s finished unpacking his things. Empty cardboard boxes were neatly piled in the corner of his room. The apartment was quite big for him who was alone but it satisfied him greatly that he smiled widely as he lunged himself on his newly bought couch.

Just a few minutes after his unpacking and before he could drift to sleep, a knock resonated across the room taking him by surprise. Thinking that it was the neighbor, he instantly got up but on his way to the door, he spotted the clock making him halt. Who in the world would greet their new neighbor at 12?!

As the knocking intensified, he couldn't help but feel nervous. He wasn't that loud while he was unpacking but he wasn't silent either so he must have disturbed a few people. With this in mind, he decided to check who the visitor is through the peephole and was utterly surprised when he saw an eye staring straight at him. "What the---"

"Surprise!" somebody shouted before the door came tumbling down with a huge force. The man was thrown on the ground but he immediately gathered his strength to stand up and defend himself. Once he was up, the masculine man threw a punch at him…and it was clearly lethal.

He felt terrified but before it could make contact with his face, it was stopped a few inches from him by a hand tightly clenching the fist about to hit his face.

"Senior, you ought to contain yourself during this mission. He still has valuable information, we cannot afford to kill him" Ye Zhe muttered with a sigh. Laurens whose hand is still tightly clenched by Ye Zhe glared at him. Not liking his glare, Ye Zhe glanced back at him and sighed once more. "Do you know how to deal with the dead?"

"Huh?" Laurens asked in bewilderment. Deal with the dead?! Who in the world could deal with the dead?! He's not even the grim reaper how could he do that?!

Noticing his bewilderment and his fist slowly relaxing, Ye Zhe used his strength and made him place his hands down. The man was now out of trouble from Laurens's fist but the latter refuses to back down and continued to glare at Ye Zhe. "If you don't then stop glaring at me and back down"

"Laurens" Ji Li Zhao said sternly as he stepped foot inside the premises and behind him is his other subordinates. "Step back"

"Tch"

The other members of the King of Kings merely sighed at his attitude but Angelica who wasn't part of the group couldn't help get enraged by his rude behavior. "Urgh, you maniac. How dare you show such an attitude towards Boss!"

"It's fine" Li Zhao immediately said noticing that Laurens directed his glare at Angelica. "If he didn't do that I would begin to doubt his identity"

All of his men are eccentric. They have different characteristics that makes them unique from one another. Laurens unrestrained attitude towards him is his special attribute and Ji Li Zhao likes him for that.

The man stood there petrified as soon as he saw Ji Li Zhao. The latter confidently strode inside the apartment and took a seat in his couch with Yan Zhu and Yan Xi Lan standing behind him. "Wh-Why are you here?! Wha-What are you doing?!"

"You should already know the answer to that, Mr. Meyer" Ye Zhe muttered as he carefully placed gloves in his hands. They still have plenty of jobs to do so going out with blood in his hands is a big no-no for this evening.

Hearing his statement and judging from his actions, they already know the crime he committed. But how?! His employer made sure it was a done deal, that he won't get chased for it.

"H-How?" he muttered totally bewildered and terrified. "How did you know?!"

"You have such a nice apartment, Mr. Meyer and judging from the boxes, you just moved in, am I right?" the little daredevil asked as he surveyed the room and chuckled as he passed by the boxes. "Well, HILL offers quite generous pay so it's no surprise most of our employees get to live in such a place. But you're different, Mr. Meyer. Despite working in our company for 6 years, you still live a life of poverty compared to those who worked for us for 2 years. Why?"

"I-I-I was saving my money"

"Don't make any more excuses Mr. Meyer. You're always buried in debt because of your gambling habit. While we were out investigating, it came to our knowledge that you managed to pay off all your debts in a single day and even bought an apartment. Your eagerness to live a life of luxury created an opportunity for Einstein" Ye Zhe muttered followed by a series of chuckles from Yan Xi Lan and Angelica.

Just how stupid is he?! Didn't he know that there's still an ongoing investigation regarding the bombing incident?!

Well, thanks to his stupidity, they managed to finish things earlier and have spare time to hold the fair festival tomorrow.

"Wha---that isn't possible!!" he yelled out in disbelief. His employer told him that he could spend his money without repercussions! Besides, the transfer was done and the payment of his debt was done discreetly!

"Einstein is someone you cannot fool in the battle of codes" Angelica remarked. She who was part of the Great Nobles was saved by Makio countless times using his excessive knowledge of computers. There's nothing he can't do when it comes to codes so finding out the transaction that Meyer made was an easy feat for him. "Didn't your employer tell you that?"

"N-No! He said everything was fine! Everything was perfectly planned"

"There's no such thing as a perfect crime in this world" Ji Li Zhao muttered with a smirk. There's always a loophole in a crime. "Who's the fool that planned it?"

"N-No one!"

His reply immediately made Ji Li Zhao harden his gaze. If he continues to keep silent, his time spent on this investigation will prolong. That's something he can't allow. "If I can't go back to my wife in three days, there would be blood to pay"

"Speak up" Yan Zhu said with a hint of intimidation. "Boss is being lenient towards you. We could have killed you yesterday once we found evidence of your sabotage. But we didn't and instead came here for a bargain"

"B-Bargain?"

"Tell us his name and your life will be spared. You will also testify for us and hand over all the evidence you have with your transaction with your employer" Brett Ramos said like it was the easiest thing to do. "You'll be imprisoned for what you did but you get to keep your life. Nice bargain, isn't it?"

William Meyer nearly choked his own saliva upon hearing this. "That's basically death as well!"

"But your family will be safe" Brett interjected. Their organization is merciless to those who refuse to change their crooked path, but if they're willing to change they can easily arrange for things to go their way. "We'll place them under the protection program and transfer them somewhere"

"W-Will you really?"

"Mn" Ji Li Zhao hummed as he nodded his head. He's not a bloody tyrant that he would include innocent lives in the carnage. "Name"

"What?"

"We'll protect them" Ye Zhe said with a sigh. Looks like Meyer still doesn't believe how forgiving they can be. "Now give us the name and everyone you know that is related to this incident"

"My Family---"

"I said we will protect them! Stop repeating your concern! We're going nowhere with your blabber that I might accidentally kill you right now" the maniac amongst the group yelled out making William Meyer flinch in terror. The others sighed at what he did. He only worsened the situation! They should have left him in the car just as planned!

Ji Li Zhao sighed as well before he glared at Laurens. "Laurens"

Laurens looked back at the man who called him and could only click his tongue in defeat. Ji Li Zhao is the boss for a reason and that reason terrifies them. "Tch"

"Name" he repeated as he sternly looked at William Meyer who was now kneeling on the ground.

He looked at everyone and felt a shiver run down his spine. If he doesn't take the offer, he will surely die alongside his family. Besides, his employer lied to him! How could he not take the offer and save himself? By taking the offer, he will bring outright retribution to the felon who sold him off! "Director Franklin Sullivan"

Ji Li Zhao nodded his head. He already had his suspicion but he needed confirmation to make a move. "Others?"

William Meyer shook his head. "I only know him. He planned this alone"

"Mn" he hummed back. He turned so brave he could now do things on his own. Just how did greed eat him up? "Do you know other plans?"

"Yes" Meyer said without hesitation. Sullivan works alone but he has plenty of subordinates following his wicked schemes. "He plans to kill you tomorrow. At the event tomorrow, he said he will successfully kill you"

"Kill me?" he asked before he stood up and allowed the twins to follow him. "That's interesting"

Before he could completely exit the premises, he chuckled and looked back at William before he stared at Ye Zhe. "Take care of him. Bring him to the authorities with Franklin Sullivan"

Ye Zhe immediately nodded his head as he made Meyer stand up alongside Angelica. "Yes, Boss"

"Should we proceed with tomorrow's event, Boss?" Brett Ramos asked as they strode out of the building. The Fair Festival is tomorrow and many people will be attending the Fair. It will also be broadcast and everyone is eagerly expecting a good show.

Knowing Sullivan plans on killing him tomorrow, would he agree to go?

"What do you think?" Ji Li Zhao asked as they entered the car. He looked at Brett seriously making the latter smirk.

In this visit, Ji Li Zhao brought with him all the members of the King of Kings except Fang who's doing another job. "Whatever he plans, we can counter it with the King of Kings"

"I'll trust your words, Big Brother" he replied as he nodded his head. He has full trust in his subordinates and he knows fully well how capable they are of counterattacks. So Director Sullivan better be prepared because he's letting out five of the beasts in Palisades.
