Chapter 8: Not Yet

"That's it for today." Sae said as she closed her book before walking out of the class.

"Can I have a moment sensei?" Hikaru said as he followed Sae and left the class.

"What do you need?" Sae said as she continued walking towards the rooftop.

"I would like to file a complaint against three students."

"Hoh? Continue." Sae said as she lit a cigarette once they reached the rooftop.

"Three upperclassmen tried to injure me yesterday between 6:00 Pm and 7:15 P, in front of the convenience store. They were prompting a fellow student, Ken Sudo to start a fight during which I intervened in an attempt to dissolve the argument. But the upperclassmen for some reason tried to punch me whilst I simply asked them a question. This is clearly a physical assault towards his junior and I would like to report this behaviour."

"But you aren't injured, right? Isn't it fine?"

"The word 'Attempted' exists for a reason sensei and the charge of 'Attempted Murder' exists for a reason too."

"Hmm, you are correct. But I have to ask this of you, did you retaliate or counter attack them?"

"Not at all sensei. I simply survived because I somehow managed to dodge their punches."

"I'll file a report against these students after discerning their identity and check the CCTV footage myself." Sae said.

"Is that all you wanted?" Sae said as she glanced at Hikaru.

"Yes. May you have a great day ahead sensei." Hikaru said as he left the rooftop leaving Sae behind who continued to smoke.

"I would like to order a standard lunch set please." Hikaru said to the employee in the cafeteria. He was currently in the cafeteria located inside the main school building.

"Please place your ID on the counter." The employee said as Hikaru placed his ID on the scanner, successfully paying for his lunch.

"Here it is. Enjoy your meal." The employee said as she handed over the tray to Hikaru.

"Over here Hikaru!" Ai said to Hikaru as she spotted him near the counter.

"What were you doing?" Ai asked Hikaru who walked towards them.

"Just rejecting the girl who sent the letters." Hikaru said.

"Sheesh! That's so cruel!" Ai said as Kikyo and mei were was sitting beside Ai nodded.

"You shouldn't have done that Akiyama-Kun!" Kikyo said as she pouted a little.

"Then what should I have done? Played with her feelings before leaving her when I would have found someone I truly loved? That's childish, and I don't think that the girl I just rejected liked me. She was probably just attracted to my appearance, something she would have gotten bored of over time." Hikaru said as he sat down facing the three girls.

"Ah! I didn't mean it like that! I am sorry if it sounded rude to you!" Kikyo said as she hurriedly got up and apologized to Hikaru.

"It's okay. I wasn't angry at you or anything." Hikaru said as he smiled a bit seeing which Kikyo visibly relaxed.

"You shouldn't tease me Hikaru-Kun!"

"When did I tease you?"

"Hmph!"

"Hey, we are here too alright?" Ai said as she waved her hand.

"So what are you eating Hikaru?"

"Just the basic lunch set. It's enough for me." Hikaru said as he looked at his lunch set before looking at the girl's lunch set which seemed to sparkle for some reason.

"Couldn't you have bought something better and more expensive using the points provided to us?" Mei asked Hikaru while tilting her head in confusion.

"Well, I didn't want to waste my points and this basic lunch set is enough for me." Hikaru said while looking at Mei.

"I see."

"By the way Akiyama-san, Hayasaka-san was telling us about her childhood friend to us. Do you know who that is, seeing that you both are already on a first-name basis?"

"Well, that would be me. And what exactly did you tell them about me?" Hikaru said while looking at Ai.

"Ah! I am really stupid! Of course, it would be you! Black hair, black eyes ugh! I am embarrassed that I even asked such a stupid question!" Kikyo said as she buried her face between her legs.

"It's alright. Thank you for taking care of Ai, I know she can be annoying at times, but well, she is a really kind and caring girl." Hikaru said honestly.

"What the heck are you talking about? Whenever was I ever annoying?" Ai asked incredulously as she stared at Hikaru.

"Never, I was just joking. Now let's finish our lunch, we still have to attend a few classes." Hikaru said as he started eating.

"Hey hey, do you want a bite?" Ai asked Hikaru as she looked at Hikaru's lunch set before looking at her own.

"No, it's okay."

"Well if you say so."

"Hey, Hikaru?"

"Yea-" Hikaru said as he looked at Ai, but before he could finish his sentence, Ai stuffed something in his mouth.

"How is the karaage?" Ai asked as she cheekily smiled at Hikaru. [Karaage is basically fried chicken.]

"It's good." Hikaru said genuinely.

"Want some more?"

"No."

"Sheesh, so stubborn." Ai said as she pouted a little.

"Do you think these two are going out?" Kikyo asked Mei as they whispered among each other.

"I don't think so, they seem like a pair of childhood sweethearts according to the knowledge I have collected by reading hundreds of Shojo Manga." Mei said as she whispered back.

"What are you guys whispering about?" Hikaru asked the two girls as he looked at them.

"Ah! Nothing! We were just talking about how tasty this stuff is." Kikyo said as she picked up some food and ate it.

"Oh, alright."

"By the way, are you guys going out?" Mei asked suddenly.

"Hmm? Nope." Hikaru said as he continued eating.

"Not yet." Ai said as she smiled mysteriously.

"Eh? What do you mean by that? I am curious!" Kikyo said as she clung to Ai.

"What are you talking about?" Ai looked at Kikyo with confusion in her eyes.
