13 An Impossibility

'Was this the same person?'

Shuyun watched the mini reunion of the mother and daughter before his eyes.

While Shuyun possessed only thoughts of confusion, Meiying on the other hand felt relieved. She had thought her mother was angry at her, given her prior knowledge. Now to Shuyun, an occurrence such as that of a parent experiencing anger over an action that their child had participated in is not surprising. It was to say, there was no perfect child, as everyone made mistakes. So it was common that multiple times in the childhood years that a person would experience something of the sort.

But Shuyun had miscalculated, that was that the rare impossibility of a perfect child was Meiying. She had not once experienced her mothers anger, it scared her that the prospect of her dispointment.

Although Meiying may have much inexperience compared to the average person, she most definitely was able to recognize mental states. This could also be attributed to her Nature Qi, but her perception abilities were extraordinary.

So, upon seeing the strange demeanor of her mother, coupled with her recent actions of disobedience, it led her to assume the worst.

But it turned out not to be the case, and though she felt strange at the situation before, feeling the usual warmth and adorance from her mother, it allowed her to ease those thoughts.

While Meiying basked in the warmth of her bosom, her mothers eyes travelled to Shuyun. Though, while Meiying and her mother may share the same eyes both in color and structure, the difference in feeling when gazed upon by them could be said to be as different as the night from the day.

Though the same green hue was present, instead of an infinite curiosity and innocence, they displayed deep knowledge, eyes that see right through you.

Before her, Shuyun felt the whole of his life exposed. Even though he knew it was not possible, maybe those eyes too were capable of seeing his past life.

She was silent, not saying anything too him, just merely enjoying the daughter in her arms. Though Shuyun had many experiences with many people, he couldn't read through her. It was as if her true intentions were masked behind a wall of eternity, displaying complete neutrality.

He noticed that it was only in the presence of her daughter did any of her true emotions surface. It also seemed that she thought high of her image, not allowing others to see it, as was the case with Ai. But, she let him bare witness to it. So, could her lax character towards him mean his impending death?

Maybe she had already planned to kill him, so him witnessing such a thing wouldn't matter then. And it wasn't as if he had any power to stop her.

Meiying sensed her mothers gaze waver from her as she remember Shuyuns dilemma. She quickly broke away from here arms as she quickly approached Shuyun.

"This is Shuyun, I had found him injured on one of the paths in the fore-"

She had not even finished her sentence.

*Sling*

Shuyuns head suddenly fell.

Watching the height of his own vison lower, he saw his sight reach the ground. Not long after, his body fell with it. His fading conscious watched his blood paint the white canvas of the floor, creating a pool of blood that gathered around his head.

He couldn't say he wasn't expecting it.
