6 Promise

I begin to venture out and about inside the city, but I see a bulletin board with the different jobs. So, I go up to it, and some of the jobs are ones I've never seen before. 'Those are some pretty high prices...'. I turn to walk away but someone steps in front of me. This just feels like déjà vu. I'm wearing my normal mask out, so I feel safe as I look up. I almost regret pausing as I look to see a huge beast guy. The way he was looking at me got me a bit creeped out. He had a grin on his face and instantly hugged me holding my body up as he laughed.

"Haha! It's really you!" He says. "Zachie!"

I was so confused until he called me the only nickname I ever had in my past life. He also had a deep voice with a hard Russian accent. 'The only person I can think of...'.

"Ugh... Greffosh...?" I say. "I'm not Zach anymore, you have to call me Al, and my new family name is Krelin."

"Ah, well Alie, you do remember me!" Greffosh says putting me down. "When did you get here?"

"I thought you died in the war..." I say.

"Well, I woke up in a black space with a lady speaking to me." Greffosh says. "So here I am, I am glad and confused to see you here."

"Assassination." I say. "Why are you a... beast person?"

"Well, that is quite the death you had then." Greffosh says. "Alie, I am a magical creature, some gross old man cast a spell on me to be an animal. Then I came across this elf who understood me and gave me a more human form!"

"You got turned into an animal and then got turned into a beast person..." I say.

"Exactly!" Greffosh smiles proud.

"Wait, what happened with the elf?" I ask.

"He is dead." Greffosh says.

"Well, there goes all my hopes and dreams." I say. "There's this bunny that's at my place and she used to be human."

"I think this bunny you speak of is similar to my past situation." Greffosh says. "Did you see who put the magic spell on her?"

"Actually no, I was just told that." I say. "I was given an assistant after getting put in this world, it helps me in any way."

"Ah, I see now." Greffosh says. "Did you also choose to be immortal, Alie?"

"Yeah, I'm guessing the only way you know that is because you're immortal too." I say.

"You are absolutely correct." Greffosh says.

"Well, I have to get going, need to get materials for my place." I say walking away.

"Let me join you!" Greffosh says. "I know mostly everyone in this city, you can get discounts with me around."

"Great, can you help me find a place to stay overnight?" I ask.

"If we get to the right people, then there will be no problem in that." Greffosh says.

"Alright, let's get going then." I say walking along.

We start heading to some side shops and find some really great deals that didn't cost as much that I expected. 'Greffosh was right about us getting discounts while moving around with him. It seemed almost like he was a VIP in this city. Wait, that could only mean one thing…'

"Greffosh?" I say.

"Yes Alie, what is it that you need?" Greffosh responds.

"Would you happen to be someone… important here?" I ask.

"Oh, why would you ask that?" Greffosh chuckles. "Is this because you are buying things much less than others?"

"Obviously, I know somethings not the same once it's been originally shown." I say. "Tell me, what are you to this city?"

"It is because you are buying things much less than others?" Greffosh says. "Do you really want to know why?"

"You're seriously like some sort of VIP in my possession." I say. "There is no way I'm letting this slide, Greffosh."

"Well then, Alie, I will tell you." Greffosh says. "This will be spoken of, after we enter the famous pub!" He smiles as he pulls me along with him.

"Alright…" I say walking.

It's been hours since we've started going around and checking things out. I realized that this city is more advanced than what I saw it from the gates. 'Since it's getting late it shouldn't be to unnatural to take a break. It has been a long day, but I need to know what he's hiding from me. I don't want to drink too much; I'll just lay off the drinks for a bit.'. Greffosh swings the door open and everyone in the pub cheers. Some of the men from the bar come to greet him like pals. Once they're all done, they sit back and continue all their conversations. Greffosh turns to me and pats my back.

"Alie, welcome to the Adventures Pub." Greffosh says. "Everyone you meet in the Adventures Pub will give you a warm welcome as well."

"They all do look nice, but I wanna sit down first." I say.

"Of course, Alie, right this way." Greffosh says. "Let us sit next to my wife."

"You have a wife?" I ask. "I almost thought you would never get a girl in any life."

"Her name is Mariana," Greffosh says. "The most beautiful woman I ever met in both of my lives."

I walk along with Greffosh and immediately, once I saw this Mariana, I froze. Not because of her, but because there were kids. They were like half-breeds, little bit of wolf and elf mixed together. 'The kids look like they could be at least 5 or 6. Many years have passed though… that's understandable for now.'.

"Mariana, this is my old friend, Alie." Greffosh says. "He was my dearest comrade I have ever had in the past life."

"Ah, so you are the one he called Zachie." Mariana says faintly. "It is nice to meet you."

She tries to stand up slowly, but Greffosh quickly stops her. Mariana's voice was so faint, it was like she couldn't speak at all. It was very concerning to see this here, she seemed really sick. Greffosh insisted I sit down as we started to be given our drinks.
