5~ |Life With The Elf King: Part Two|

"This is it?" Yibo asked as his eyes fixated on his portion of fried rice.

"What do you mean, 'this is it'?"

"Only one plate?"

"Yeah, there's only fried rice. How many plates do you want to use?"

"I mean, this is the only thing I'm being served?"

"Well, what do you expect?"

"My servants always prepare rows of plates and bowls for my breakfast."

Does this guy still think he's the king? Xiao Zhan sighed. He was too tired in the early morning for an argument. Whatever. I'll just play along.

"Well, sorry to disappoint you, my king. But I'm poor. I don't have that many dishes to offer." Xiao Zhan meant for it as sarcasm, however, it confounded him a little when he detected sympathy from Yibo's eyes.

"It's fine. One plate is enough then." Yibo said as he lowered his eyes to look at the plate, which made Xiao Zhan even more confused.

What's wrong with this guy? Is another spirit possessing him?

"But first, tell me what you put in this...fried rice dish," commanded Yibo as he looked straight into Xiao Zhan's eyes, demanding an answer.

Urgh, the king's spirit is back.

"Nothing much," he shrugged. "Just some rice, eggs, and vegetables. And..."

Before he could finish, he was cut off by Yibo. "Vegetables?"

"Err...Yes."

Without further delay, Yibo picked up the spoon and scooped the rice into his mouth. Xiao Zhan watched with his jaws dropped open at the person in front of him who was eating like there was no tomorrow.

For someone who finds my food disgusting, just look at the way he shoves my rice down his throat.

"Hey, I'm thirsty."

He was lost in thought that he didn't notice Yibo had finished the whole thing! The plate was now empty. Still in shock, Xiao Zhan got up to get a jar of water nearby along with two glasses and put in between them. Then, he started to eat his rice before it got colder than it already had. He was just scooping up the rice on his spoon when he was -not unexpectedly- disturbed again.

"I said I'm thirsty."

He dropped down the spoon and crossed his arms as he leaned back on his chair. "If you use your eyes, you'll see water and glasses in front of you."

"I see them."

"Oh, yeah. Then what're you waiting for?"

"My servants always pour the water into my goblet and present it to me. What do you expect me to do with that weird-looking, see-through thing?"

With a big sigh from the bottom of his lungs, Xiao Zhan reached out for the water and glass. While pouring, he said, "I don't own a goblet in this house, so bear with it." When the water made its way half-filled, he handed it towards Yibo. "And this see-through thing is called glass. From now on, if you want to drink water or any drink, just pour it into here."

Yibo looked confused while lifting the glass to his lips, but after taking a sip, he made a funny face that made Xiao Zhan burst laughing.

"Hey, what's so funny?"

"Your face. Haha..." He kept laughing till tears forming in the corners of his eyes. "Why? Don't tell me your kingdom doesn't have water?"

"We do. But this one tastes a bit weird."

"Okay, if you say so. Then please concentrate on the weirdness of the water by yourself and stop disturbing me having my breakfast. I need to hurry and go to work."

Surprisingly, Yibo didn't say anything further. Xiao Zhan was too busy eating that he didn't realize he was being watched with his every move.

12 hours later...

Dear angels and all good deeds in this world, please give me the strength to continue my kindness. Or else I'll kick this so-called elf king out in the street to starve. Xiao Zhan recited as he stomped off in a rage, carefully stepping over the scattered and broken things on the floor, and in search for the one responsible for it.
