Roger never did expect it, that he would have a child so soon with Rouge, and without a name to give, he simply chose Vincent.
The next child would definitely be named Ace if it was a boy, or Anne if it was a girl, but Roger had bet it would be Ace.
Today, was the day that he would die.
Unfortunately, he would never see, Ace, but he hoped simply hoped that Garp takes care of him.
No, the Pirate King was beyond hope.
He knew that Garp would take care of Ace.

"Keep him safe for me".
Those were among the last words that Roger had told him before his execution.
However, his final words had truly shocked him, not those that he said at the execution platform.
But, rather...
"No, you'll find out, when you find Rouge!"
What a way to end a conversation between two titans, Garp wondered what Roger had meant by those words, and he guessed knowing the Pirate King's personality, it would likely be one hell of a surprise.
They must have been important if he chose for those words to be his last to the Marine Hero, yet at the same, laughing as he said them.
Laughing as if he was an old friend...
Perhaps, that was true in more than one aspect.

Months Later

Baterilla an island in the South Blue was frequently visited by Marines who had come to check if the rumours of Roger's child being born there were real.
They were true and the willpower of Rouge was just as real.
Being able to keep Ace's birth delayed for months beyond what would be considered normal, via sheer willpower.
It was at night when Garp found Rouge at a hospital, initially being stopped by a doctor, trying to get him to move, "Get away!".
The doctor got easily pushed aside, as Garp with his lamp asked, "Your name is Portgas D. Rouge, correct?"
Rouge merely nodded, knowing that Garp would eventually arrive, as told from Roger.
Garp looked around, before feeling a tugging sensation as his foot.
Looking down, he almost felt as if he had a heart attack, it was a young boy.
Strawberry-blonde hair inherited from his mother, however without any freckles.
Dark brown eyes, that though weren't black like Roger's, were just as intense.
Then there was the grin, it was different from Roger's, but similar, it was almost looking at a mini Roger.
Perhaps if this boy was to one day dye his hair and grin the same as Roger, he would indeed be looking at another Roger.
It was almost, frightening...
At the same time, the young boy had inside his mind, a hundred calculations, thinking of what to do.
The silence was broken by Rouge who asked, "Come here, Vincent, Ace or Anne might come out soon..."
Vince went to his mother, hugging her and commenting offhandedly, "It's going to be Ace..."
"You don't know yet!" Rouge began teasing Vince and pinching his cheek.

The Next Day

"Gol D. Ace..." Rouge began hugging the newborn Ace, tears falling as she did. "Our son, our little boy..."
Keeping Ace close to her, she began caressing him, and with her final words, she looked at Vincent and spoke, "Take care of him, Vincent..."
Giving Ace to Vincent, she smiled and chose to let go, knowing that Ace was in good hands, and everything would be fine...
"Rouge hold on!"
"Rouge!"
Vincent holding Ace, began to cry himself, going on his knees, but still holding the baby Ace.
Garp merely watched with a dismayed expression, knowing himself unable to do anything, and feeling regret for being too late.
Then, Vincent shouted.
"Ace, I'll protect you! So, no matter what, you'll never have to cry!"
Vincent said as his tears slowly disappeared and his face turned to a smile, and with that, Ace stopped crying.
Garp took a look at Vincent, and had only one thought, 'You really are...'

Later

"Where are we going?" Vincent asked Garp, both of them now being outside the hospital, overlooking a sunset.
Garp holding the baby Ace, recalled a certain place, smirking, he answered Vincent, "I can think of a good place..."
"Does it include mountain bandits?"
Garp froze, before beginning to walk and ignore whatever Vincent said.
"So, does it include mountain bandits?"
"Hey, are you ignoring me?"
Garp got some sort of enjoyment, annoying the little boy that looked a bit too much like his rival.

"I'm gonna need you to raise these two children, Dadan!" Garp said, whilst pointing to Vincent who was carrying a sleeping Ace.
Her response, was, to be honest, expected, "Oh Hell No!" Saying as she also tore down the laundry lines, in both surprise and anger.
Only to make Ace wake up and begin crying, causing for Vincent to simply caress Ace, making him stop crying.
Dadan going down to get her laundry saw Vincent and Ace and immediately comment on the two.
"I can't take care of a little girl and a baby!"
Garp gave a hearty laugh, confusing Dadan, even more so, when she looked at the pouting Vincent.

Inside a certain rip-off bar, an elderly man with white hair couldn't help but laugh, remembering a memory of his old captain speaking of his child.
Remembering the conversation they had about him.
"Trust me, partner! He has my face, Rouge's hair and eyes, and your style!".
Perhaps one day, he would meet this child...
"What are you laughing at?" Asked a relatively slim and tall woman with short black hair, looking to the elderly man.
"The New Age..."
