4 Chapter 4: Entrance Exam

(Man, I gotta get back into Baki The Grappler. I'll probably take a super small break to quickly binge through the rest of that series from where I left off.)

-A month and a half after the events of the previous chapter-

UA is hosting their entrance exams today.

The news of UA hosting them was made public around a month ago, and I obviously applied to take the exams.

I already knew that the written exams wouldn't be a problem for me at all. As I mentioned a while back, thanks to having the planet itself talk to me 24/7, I learnt things at a much faster pace than those around me. Schoolwork wasn't a problem even before that happening, so when it did, it basically became nothing more than a waste of time, being turned from learning about something to writing down what I already knew.

Don't get it twisted. I'm not some kind of hyper genius, and I don't know everything. Far from it.

To put it into better words, I guess I could say that, despite being 15, I have around as much knowledge about specific subjects such as Biology, English, History, Social Science and some other subjects as someone who has studied in those specified subjects for at least 3 or 4 years. Well, for the English part, it's more accurate to say that I'm fluent in it, you don't really "study" English. You just learn to understand it.

Actually, when it comes to Biology, that's the one I know the most about. I would say I have the same amount of knowledge about it as someone who's studied it for around 12 years.

Now, that all sounds huge, but keep in mind that there are people who: A, have been studying in these subjects for pretty much their entire life, and know far more than me, for now at least, and B, who have Quirks that alter their intelligence in certain ways, such as faster learning and other applications of Quirks that have a direct effect on intelligence. My knowledge isn't too impressive when compared to both of those.

Also, I'm not as good at Math as I am with the other subjects. I'm good, good enough to have easily passed Math class in school with little struggle, but nowhere near as good when compared to my other subjects.

That's not really because of anything irregular as much as it is to do with my large disinterest in it. Math bores me quicker than anything else in the world can do. The only reason I even still did it was because I was absolutely required to. If I wasn't required to, I would have burnt every math assignment I ever got with glee.

So yeah, written exam won't be so much as an implication of a problem. So, that just leaves the practical exam. It doesn't take a smart person to know that the practical will involve combat of some kind.

So, I trained extremely hard. Harder than I have at any time in my life previously. I upped my exercises, I upped my combat practice, I upped my Quirk training and I made several new moves and techniques that I could use with my Quirk.

One of the things I taught myself to do was to basically ski across the ground in whatever direction I faced.

The way I achieve this is I make the ground below me carry me forward at super quick speeds, while also having a small bit of earth wrap over the top of my feet and lock together like seatbelts in order to "lock" me onto the moving ground. Through this combination, I essentially just make myself ski across the ground easily.

I could use this move to easily travel around at a fast pace.

Another move that I taught myself was basic shape manipulation of any earth/metal related thing nearby under my control. For example, I could get a large rock, and I could "chip" at it to shape it like a crude weapon. The weapon type that I aimed to shape a lot of the time was that of blunt weaponry. Hammers, maces, war hammers, stuff like that.

I had debated for a while on what weapon types I would want to use. People often argue that if you wanted to kill someone, you should use sharp weapons, and if you wanted to keep someone alive, you use blunt weapons. However, many people tend to not think on how deadly even a half serious strike from a blunt weapon to the head would be.

Obviously, blunt weapons utilize blunt force trauma as their method of damage. This means that when it comes to impact from a strike, it will be devastating if landed in certain spots, such as the kneecaps, or the head.

A blow to the head can produce a brief loss of consciousness, headaches and impaired cognition, among other symptoms. Symptoms can last for days or sometimes longer. And a person who experience one risks another and may find recovery takes longer, if they even survive from the blow in the first place.

So, essentially, when you strike a person with a blunt weapon, they could be placed into agony that a bladed weapon could never induce, and for longer periods of time as well. The pain of a stab wound is often gone after a few hours, but the pain from a blunt weapon can last days.

Because of this, I decided that blunt weapons would work the best for me.

The last thing I managed to make into a proper technique is a bit harder to explain, but I'll try.

To put it into the simplest terms I can, I essentially take energy from the earth and use it to heal myself. What I do is I plant my hands into the ground and "attract" things like nutrients and energy from the ground and give it to myself, healing me.

Something I haven't tested is whether I can do this to someone else to heal them as well. I'll save that for later.

And with that, it was the day of the Entrance Exam. We had already done the written portion of the exam, and we were currently all gathered in front of the Voice Hero, Present Mic.

(Canon Present Mic speech)

So, we'll be fighting robots. Not the most creative thing, but whatever. Each robot has different point values, the highest value being three pointers, but the biggest robot, surprisingly, is worth nothing, it being recommended to choose to retreat instead of fight it.

As soon as Present Mic gave us the go, I skied right into the Exam area, not intending to waste any time just standing around.

"See! He gets it! Go, go, go! Time is limited!", Present Mic said.

Before long, I saw my first target. Well, a group of them, to be exact. 3 two pointers were grouped together. This is easy pickings for me.

Not stopping my movement, I grabbed the 2 pointer right in front of me and spun as fast as possible, slamming it into the two other robots, destroying the one in my grip as well as them.

That's 6 points already.

Continuing further into the examination area, I quickly spotted a three pointer not too far from three other two pointers, a lone one pointer between both groups.

If I get this right, this will net me 10 points.

I zoomed to the three pointer. I formed a layer of earth on my knuckles and fingers before I reached him, and leapt up using my momentum to punch straight through the robot. With all of my momentum still with me from the jump, I flew through the air to the one pointer.

I grabbed it's head and, with all the strength that I could muster, rotated it with me mid-air and slammed it onto the ground. It took too much damage to function further, and "died". Now, to try something.

Focusing on separate parts of the bot, I willed them to pull off and levitate near me, and they did exactly that.

A very, very basic application of my Quirk that I achieved years ago.

Geokinetic Telekinesis. The ability to use telekinesis on anything related to earth.

As I said, this is an incredibly basic application of my Quirk that I achieved years ago. If I remember correctly, I achieved this just one week after I turned 6, just a year after I gained my Quirk.

I wouldn't say it's difficult to do either, it just requires a good bit of concentration, otherwise the levitated objects would fall.

I made the levitating pieces of the fallen bot fly towards the 3 two pointers, slamming into them at breakneck speeds. They were destroyed easily from the impact.

And with that, I have ten more points, giving me a total of 16. It hasn't even been a minute into the exam yet.

-With the UA teachers and staff-

The staff of UA were watching the people in the exam, reviewing how they did things as well as other things, such as whatever they could gleam of their attitudes and tendencies through observing the way they fought. For example, those who were extremely unrestrained and wild would fight in rather unprecise patterns, and would mostly prioritize brute power over technique. An example of this that they could see was the participant known as Katsuki Bakugou.

Then there were those who were more firm and rigid, generally only sticking to one form of offense, likely from a place of discipline. This could be seen quite well in the participant named Tenya Iida.

However, there was one participant who seemed quite strange in these departments. Sometimes, he was wild and unrestrained. Sometimes, he was firm, and used what seemed to be very refined techniques. And sometimes, he would do extremely strange things that confused the staff watching.

For example, when he took down two three pointers, at which point he had 28 villain points, he took pieces from the destroyed bodies of the bots. At first, the staff thought he planned to use them in a way similar to what he did with the pieces of a one pointer to beat other bots, but he simply pocketed it.

This participant was known as Chikyu Tsuchikawa. He was actually quite well known among the staff, as they all knew that he was the son of the Pro Hero, Pixie Bob, a hero who was part of the Wild Wild Pussycats. So he wasn't unknown to them at all, but his mannerisms, at least whatever they could pick up about them, perplexed the staff. He was wild, refined and unpredictable, all at the same time.

However, this was also a good thing. If heroes with years of experience couldn't pick much up about him, then the same would go to villains, who were more often than not very inexperienced, as they would almost always get caught before they could become experienced.

"I think we have a promising future student in our hands! He's got the energy, the smarts, and the style!", Present Mic said.

"Agreed. He seems to have a good idea of what he's doing already. His technique is impressive, his raw power is far more than good enough, and he's not as reckless as many of these other participants.", Cementoss responded.

Minutes passed as they watched the participants fight the bots. By this point, Chikyu was absolutely guaranteed to pass. He had racked up over 90 villain points, 97 to be exact, putting him at the current number one spot.

"Well, I think it's time to let the big one out! Let's see how they deal with this one!", Present Mic said before pressing a red button.

-Back with Chikyu-

As I was fighting, I felt a large presence moving across the earth. Looking to where I felt the presence, I saw the zero pointer.

I see no point in going after it, so I'll leave it to the weaklings in it's vicinity. I get literally nothing from beating it, so there's no point anyway.

They'll probably end the exam soon, so I'll just get any bots near me.

Skiing around, I eventually spot 3 one pointers close together. Perfect. This'll bring my score to 100. I have a perfect way of getting rid of them at the same time.

Step one. Cluster them together.

Focusing on all three of them, I imagine controlling them telekinetically. Shortly after imagining so, they all float off of the ground. I make them cluster together mid-air.

Step two. Shape a piece.

I telekinetically rip off both "shield" like parts on the three robots, and make them hover around the clustered bots, as if they are going to encase them. Then, I manipulate the structure of the parts by condensing them into ball like shapes. After that, I manipulate its surface to form small spikes, and I then enlarge those small spikes to become large, essentially turning it into a spiky ball of metal.

Final step. Pierce.

The now spiky parts pierce the clustered robots at the same time, destroying them easily.

And with that, I have 100 points.

"TIME IS UP! WE WILL SEND A LETTER TO ALL OF YOU IN A WEEK'S TIME TO TELL YOU WHETHER YOU PASSED OR NOT!", I heard the voice of Present Mic say.

Ah, just in time, too.

I exited the examination area, and started lightly jogging home. I might as well get some exercise in.

-1 week later-

I got the letter from UA today. Taking it to my room, I opened it, and a small device fell from it. Grabbing it, a hologram of All Might popped up.

"Greetings, young Tsuchikawa! I am here, with a message to you!"

I can see that, you walking Colgate ad.

"We have reviewed your skill during the Entrance Exam, and we are proud to inform you that you have passed! Not only that, but in first place, as well! Welcome, to your hero academia!"

This will be fun.

(I would like some pics for what his hero outfit should be. I can't think of any good ones right now. Before you suggest, keep in mind that I will NOT accept huge, bulky designs. In fact, I never will for any of my past, present or future characters.

The only idea I have is to use Gaara's outfit. But I think you guys might have some good ideas too.)
