1 A Simple Recruitment

It had been five bloody hours since that weird white light has taken me from the comfy confined of the prison that had housed me for more than eight years.

My sentence was a very simple one, I was there because I had done a crime, and I was there to pay the time. There wasn't anything else that I needed to elaborate. Well, aside from the fact that I was just another poor sop that was given the life sentence.

Do I regret performing the action? Nay, I don't feel anything wrong with what I did. Do I feel like I could have done better though? Aye, I really think that I could've. But there's wasn't anything else for me to go to, nowhere for me to go if I were to be released, which was a thought that I entertained myself with whenever I felt lonely.

You see I was just having a good read from a decent book in my hands. There was a time that I had more books than friends. Well, such a case was pretty common in these days, since you can never tell you who you could possibly trust. But the thing is, I soon started to fall asleep, and went into the realm of dreams.

That is, what I had originally had thought what had happened to me. But the case that was occuring was much different, and now, you'll be beheld to the occurrence.

"Well, that took you quite too long for you to come here." a voice said as I then noticed that I wasn't in my cell anymore. Instead, it just looked like I was in space. The infinite void of stars and dark.

"Oh could you please look at me for a split second? It's very difficult to have to deal with mortals like you every once in a while." the voice said as I then tried to swivel my body around. It didn't feel like I was floating, there was something that was pushing my feet, as if I was on some sort of invisible platform.

"Ah, finally! Now you can see me. I need you to turn around really quick!" the voice said as I then shrugged to myself and did as I was dictated to do. And what stood in front of me, or at least floated in front of me was this sort of sprite.

It was multicolored that's what I knew, and I suppose it would have another form if it was capable of going out of my visible spectrum of light. "Well, I suppose I have to ask the simple question of who are you and why did you get me out of prison for?" I said as I then kept looking around the place.

Still looked like space, but it started to spin around us, as if this was some sort of centric point to it. "I never expected a human like you to be so quick with asking questions! Grandmaster was right to have one of your kind to be summoned!" the sprite said to me as I then scrunched my eyebrows.

"Alright, I don't know what exactly who you are, so I'll leave explanations all to you." I said to the sprite as I then observed my body. It was still there, hands, the good old mini-me, me hair, and me slowly wrinkling face.

"Well that's very simple human! Your duty is to subjugate worlds in service of the great Emperor!" it said with a pep in it's voice as I then got a bad feeling from all of this. "An emperor? I mean, I'm not exactly all that scholarly with the eastern culture, but aren't emperors a part of that?" I said as the sprite then continued to bob up and down to what I said.

"Of course that's the case! The Emperor is one of the greatest beings to ever exist in all of reality!" it said as I then got even more cautious. "This Emperor of yours? How strong is he?" I asked as I hoped that me being a book nerd would be sufficient knowledge to help me survive all the possible shir that could happen to me.

"Wouldn't you like to know mortal?" it said in a very smug tone as I then sighed. I wasn't getting anywhere close to understanding what my job was. "So from what I could tell, he's just powerful enough to call upon some random prisoner like me from my cell into what I assume is a crossroads for multiple realities?" I said as the sprite soon stopped.

Okay... that was an odd reaction to my words. "Hey, aren't you gonna explain what my job is?" I said as the sprite then shook itself as it continued on "Of course! Umm, the Emperor needs more places for all of his people to go to, due to the lack of lands for them to live on, your duty is to prime these said lands to the best of your capabilities! And you'll be given as much time as possible!" it said as I then nodded my head.

Now you may all be questioning as to why exactly was I being so calm in this bloody situation. Let me be clear with you, I was internally panicking when I heard her say that this was a guy who wanted realities under him.

That's a dangerous level of power, and I don't think that it's a good idea to have such strength to be telling me what to do. I'm a free soul type, the type that would willingly chain himself into a life of reading or whatever there is that would take my fancy.

"Well then, that sort of explains what kind of person I'll be working for. Now the only question is, what exactly am I supposed to do to control entire worlds?" I asked as the sprite then started to grow in brightness.

"That's the thing! You'll become a dungeon monitor!" she said. What in the bloody hell is that?
