Bill laughed. “A bluff. You never learned to lie.”

She clenched her teeth, her eyes darting for an escape route. On her knees, she was at a distinct disadvantage. “What would you know about me?”

Should she run or take him on? He had two inches and probably a hundred pounds on her. She had the Bureau training on her side.

“I know way more than you think.”

“How?” she feigned indignation and stood taking a step away from him.

“Some of those times you thought I was Ben. Well, sometimes I was Bill.”

That would make sense. Them switching places would explain Bill’s erratic behavior.

“One time in particular,” Bill added.

Her heart stopped for a moment. It had been Bill who had tried to rape her. But Bill pretending to be Ben. She would have sworn it had been Ben.
