1 Chapter 1

6:30 in the evening! I was walking on the street of Mayur Vihar, Delhi. Evening walk! Actually I don't do this every day but today was a special day. My elder brother Varun's result of JEE would be out and I'm not interested to see Mr. Hitler(My father) praising him and scolding me for not doing anything great in my life. I was mentally preparing myself to get scolded for the next couple of weeks, when I suddenly saw a cute little white dog on the road. He was wearing a red belt around his neck which made me realize that he was a pet dog. I was staring at him when suddenly I saw a car running on its high speed and pressing the horn to signal the dog, as if that white fluffy animal would run away. Drunk or what? Couldn't he stop his car for a while? The noise that he had made from his horn was enough to make the beggar who was sleeping on the footpath awake. Anyway, I dodged the vehicles and managed to save the dog. He seemed lost but his owner came running in no time. "Oh my god, My Kuro! Thank you so much little girl to save him" she said. " Most welcome aunty. Kuro is so cute." I replied her.

"What's your name beta?"

"Niya Mehta"

"Oh you're so sweet. Do you live here?"

"Yes aunty" I replied.

"I live here too. You can come home anytime to play with Kuro." she said.

"Sure aunty. I'd love that."

I continued walking and thought about Kuro. He was special for me. Not only because I saved him but also because I had a mindset that Delhi dogs can only bark at night and bite in the morning. I felt like a hero for saving a life. I reached home and saw my father praising his dear son for his achievement. I came to know that he made it to IIT Bombay. And yah, as soon as I reached home Mr. Hitler started screaming at me. "You foolish girl, look at your brother and look at yourself. Good for nothing!" father said.

"Hey Niya, do you even know the spelling of it? Huh! You fool!" Varun bhaiya said and started laughing at me. Does IIT have a spelling or does it have 3 letters IIT! Okay, maybe I am a foolish girl! I giggled at my own thought. Fine, I may not know the full form but then what is google for? I ignored them completely. I was too happy to shout at them. I heard my father praising bhaiya as I shut the door.

"I'm proud of you beta!" he said to Varun bhaiya.

Well today I saved a life. So I'm more proud of myself than of him! I thought.
