4 Things won’t go my way

*scratch scratch* The sound made by a tree being marked with a knife.

"Try to memorize this mark, boy," Canie said while drawing an arrow in the tree with his knife, the arrow was aiming to left and was hardly noticeable if nobody tries really hard to see it "With this, we can always get back home, or find the place we were before"

Canie walked a bit ahead and Faes who is following him is holding only a bow and a quiver with seven or so arrows, the reason is that only having a Martial Art skill is not enough for the hunt to go smoothly, so having a bow would help considerably.

"I got it but… what are you doing?" Faes who now is trying to speak more to break his silent-type personality and build a new one of strong men like Canie.

"Just looking for animal traces, we are here to hunt right?"

"Right, so while we are at it… could you tell me more about, huh, Martial Art skill?" Faes tried to make a conversation, if Canie weren't so focused on searching for traces as they walk in the forest he would surely be proud of him.

"Let's see you obtained the Kick Technique right?"

"Yes..."

"Well, when we encounter an enemy you should try fighting with your legs instead of hands, it's better for you to feel it than I explain from scratch, ah!" Canie stopped while signaling for Faes to crouch as well.

With small steps and being careful to not make any sound they went to hide in a non-poison bush, and on the other side of it, a Turobi can be seen, this creature is a species of the goblin who lives in mountains, unlike the normal goblins who lives in caves and dens. This species is known for its great agility and only comes out of their mountain when they are desperate for food or want to breed.

"Yeah, this one is not good for a beginner" Canie pulled his sword as he took one step forward, "Wait here, and make sure to watch this"

"Today was really a bad day for me," thought a Turobi called Subi, his father Kobi which is the name of a few other Turobis, had already died, and his mother a Human died right in front of his eyes this morning.

The Turobis were happy that they had caught a few humans from the slums of a certain village and the man had turned into food while the woman was breeding, it was truly a moment to celebrate especially for Subi who had defeated two guards, not alone of course but with a group of five to seven Turobis, and in the end they ended leveling up and obtaining a skill each.

Everything seemed to be doing good until the alarm soared, it was just a rope holding a rock in the entrance of their Den but when cut would make a big sound and alarm everyone to get on their positions for an ambush on the invader.

"Guhihi" Subi laughed a bit as he went to his place and what he saw next made him stay silent for the entire time.

A creature, a really weird, disgusting, repulsive and horrible creature was "Walking" inside the tunnel, if Subi wasn't so scared of it he would've thrown up already, but some of the older Turobis weren't that scared and when the creature activated one of the traps they sent the signal and jumped at it.

"Useless," a voice said as the creature instantly killed all the Turobis near it with a black blade made of burned flesh.

The creature was made of a big amount of burned and normal flesh of humans and others creatures that can be found in this mountain, that "creature" don't have a solid form, it made legs when needed to walk, arms when needed to touch, and blades when needed to kill.

"With this I can be sure that every time this skill level up, it gets stronger" again that unknown voice, coming out of nowhere.

As the creature killed every single Torubi in there, Subi and his group decided that is better to survive than fight to death with it, Subi tried to take a woman with him but he was too late, even the secret breed area was being attacked by small black creatures, when he blinked one of the humans was killed, his mom.

After losing his mind in fear and rage he sprinted out of the mountain killing everything in the way and finding his way to a forest, just to end up being killed by a certain hunter.

This history will take a while to be discovered but it's a really important one later on.

"Did you see that?" Canie said while cleaning his blade "What I just used is called [Sword Art] and it's like your [Martial Art]"

"And how did you use it?" said Faes while taking the weapons the Torubi had

"I don't know how to explain, it's a matter of feeling it" done with his blade they started the search again.

"Then let me fight this time" Faes is getting excited with the expectation of how his Martial Art will work.

An hour or so has passed and they had only killed Birdras and small to medium boars, even for a common forest this was certainly… uncommon.

"What the heck is going on here" looking over from a cliff they saw the nearest village in fire and black creatures destroying what is left of the people.

"Do you think that's the reason behind the shortage of monster?" asked Faes.

"I sure do," Canie said as he signaled for Faes to go back, they have no reason to involve themselves in that situation and as it would bring danger to their lives they had preferred to go back home than staying there.

It was a good decision or would be if they had done that when they noticed the shortage of monster some time ago.

"There were people alive, you idiot" a voice coming out from nowhere sent shivers down their spine, anyone no matter who was it could feel that.

"There no chance of winning this" both thought the same.

From the cliff two flying balls appeared, the small one had a blue eye and a horn, the big one has multiples eyes on the entire body and no horns, in a reflex movement Canie ran with the boy as fast as possible back to the woods.

"See, see, there are people alive," the big one said.

"Then kill them" the small one was showing no sign of interest in the two running in front of them.

"See, see, oh..." the big one turned around and one of his eyes started glowing, "I see, just kill them" and a laser was shoot from it.

*huff puff* As they ran the distance between them and the creatures got bigger, Faes was trying to find out what are they.

Because of his inexperience, there is no way for Faes to notice it but for Canie who had lived for a long time fighting for his life, it was very clear that there's no way for both survive this without a miracle.

When he noticed one of his marks in a tree they passed by, he had hope that the creatures weren't going to give chase to them, this would surely be a miracle, sadly life is not that good.

Suddenly Faes sees a flash of light and then Canie falls to the ground, Faes who was supposed to fall along was standing still holding his hand, or what's left of it.

"!?" When both noticed it, Canie felt all the pain and Faes couldn't believe that this happened.

"They are still alive, you idiot" the small one appeared again

"U-uuwahh" Faes started to cry but…

"Don't cry!" Canie shouted, "Didn't I tell you to be aware of your surroundings?"

Faes held his tears as he looked around the place and noticed, the last ray of hope that was left behind.
