2 prologue

  (3rd pov)

We open up to see a village being raided by dragons. The Dragons steal the livestock while some of them fight the villagers who are also putting up a decent fight some even managed to injure the flying beasts. Among the fighting Vikings is a young girl in her early teens who is also fighting although she was using a bow and arrow with two axes strapped to her back and a sword on her waist.

(What she looks like, her outfit and weapons mentioned above)

This girl is Hela Haddock the oldest child of the chief of Berk stoick the vast. She let loose an arrow at a Nader hitting it at the hip which earned her a loud screech of pain as it flew away.

As she nocked another arrow she heard wings flapping from her right side. Her instinct kidded in and she jumped backwards just in time to avoid being rammed into by a groncle.

She hoisted her bow on her shoulder and ran as picked up a shield and bashed it on Nader's head as it tried to roast a villager. Its head whipping to the side it turned to the girl and growled.

"Come at me you ugly beast" Hela shouted as she unshithed her sword and got ready for battle.

The Nader snarled as it fired its magnesium blast at her. Hela sidestepped the attack and charged forward hitting the Dragon with the shield and slashing it with the sword leaving a large gash.

The Nader lets out a painful screech as it moves away from Hela and looked at the girl in fear and flies away.

                 (Hela's pov)

I huffed as I looked to the side to see dad, spitelout and a few others. I made my way to them, when I got there I asked."What do we got ?"

"A few Naders, Groncles and Zipple backs," one of them said.

"Any monstrous nightmares?" I asked dad.

"No non so far" he answered with a smile.

"Good, spitelout take a few men and to the east, I saw some Groncles heading that way. If we leave them be they find the hidden sheep." I instructed him.

"Alright, come on men you heard the lady," he said as he and a few others headed east.

                    (Stoicks pov)

Stoick looked at his daughter with a proud look on his face 'she'd make a good chief in the future ' he thought with a smile. He looked around seeing the dragons increase in number a little.

                      (Hela's pov)

'There numbers are increasing we need more visibility 'I thought with a little frown. I look at a man a few feet away as shouted towards him.

"Raise the torches," me and dad said at the same time we looked at each other with amused smiles. The torches were raised all around the village.

...........................................

After a few hours later the rade ended with dragons retreating with almost half our livestock as always.

I sighed I heard dad talking with gobber and a few others villagers about the damage caused.

'I need a nap right about now' I thought with a sign while rubbing my eyes. I haven't had a good sleep for while 'that's what you get for spending all your time in the forge or running around the village helping dad with tasks I told myself.

"Hey, dad I'm going to head home and get some sleep before the sun rises. Just wake me up when you need me" I told him holding back a  yawn.

"Alright Las get some sleep you earned it" he responded nodding his head.

" You want me to Finnish that thing you been working on for yea," Gobber asked.

"No it's something I wish to Finnish myself but thanks for the offer. "

After that, I went home to rest for the day. Reaching our house I saw my little brother getting out of the house so I asked" where are you going?"

He almost jumped out of his skin as I chuckled at him." You need to be more aware of your surrounding hiccup you never know what could happen " I told him seriously.

"Yeah and you need to stop sneaking around" he replied sparkly.

"Anyway back to my earlier question where are you going it's in the middle of the night, " I asked again staring at him.

"I ah couldn't sleep so I was going to see if Gobber needed help," he said scratching his neck.

"Alright then am going to sleep and do not touch my stuff you hear me," I said with a glare, sending shivers down his spine.

"Yeah, I hear you loud and clear," he said hurriedly.

............................................................

The next few days went by peacefully as everyone went on doing their own thing repairing houses and all that.

Right now it was evening and Hela was in the forge putting final touches on her year-long project. What is it you may ask it a .....bow. This bow is not ordinary though because instead of being made out of wood this one is made out of metal.

This thing is as complex as it looks because it has a lot of triggers that do different things like shooting those six spikes or extending hidden blades and one even tightens or loosens the rope.

Its arrows are just as complex too with just below the arrowhead being spikes that get released when the arrowhead hits or pierces something a spring is released that extends the spikes.

When she was finished, she went into the forest forgetting that she left her sword and axes at home. Normally she wasn't this careless but she was happy she Finished her project that she forgot them.

After aimlessly walking for a while she came across a cove that was on the far western side of the island. As she was going to enter it she heard a cracking under her feet by the time she looked it was too late.

"Ahhhhhh" she screamed as the ground gave way and she fell.

                  (Hela's pov)

"Argh, What in the god's name happened," I said as I looked around the hole I fell in to see it was a hidden underground cave.

I looked up and saw I won't be able to climb out while wondering how I survived with only a few scratches but I didn't dwindle on it.

I lied on my back as my mind drifted to the day I killed that monstrous nightmare. That whole battle was wrong I mean all of its attacks were aiming for me to back down but at the time I was blinded by revenge and anger to notice.

Since then I have always been observant of dragons and their behaviour. They mostly take the livestock and flee this made me want to meet a dragon outside the raiding and fighting.

"Sigh I'm going to get myself killed with that kind of thinking. I need to find a way out" I said as I followed the tunnel. After a few minutes later I came out of the cave which leads to the cove I saw earlier.

I marvelled at the beauty of all the flowers growing and with the red glow of the setting sun, it was breathtaking.

I came out of my thoughts when I heard a grunt of pain to my left. When I turned to search for the thing that made the sound I froze. There a few feet from me was a Dragon that feared by all and seen by non a creature referred to as the offspring of lightning and death itself.

It was a night fury. I stood there frozen just staring at it with wide eyes until its eyes opened and locked on to me. Its own eyes widened slightly then it tried to move but that ended with a screech of pain so it leid back.

Its eyes focused on me with caution and a bit of curiosity as it saw I had no weapons on me.

I shook my head to get my focus back as I scanned its body seeing multiple cuts and wounds with an arrow stuck just below its wing.

There was no damage to its tail fins or wings meaning it could fly if it healed.

"What happened to you," I asked more to myself than the dragon.

Then I heard a rustling of the other end of the cove and I see six wild boars coming from the other entrance. I could hear the growling even if it was in pain.

"They must have followed the scent of blood," I said out loud. I looked at the dragon to see it had a look of fear in its eyes even if it was trying to hide it behind an angry growl.

So with a determined look on my face, I walked in between the Dragon the wild boars picking up a rock with a pointy end.

The night fury looked at the human girl in surprise as most of the humans he met all ether ran away from him started attacking so he thought it was courageous or stupid. After seeing it take down three of six boars his leaned on the first option.

After I killed three of the six boars the other three ran so I threw the stone away. I turned to the dragon to see it looking at me with more curiosity in its eyes as it tilted its head slightly. It reminded me of my wolf Fenrir as I chuckled.

"Well your a curious one aren't you," I asked as I picked up two boars and threw them at him.

"You can eat those I'm taking this one," I said when he looked between the boar and me a couple of times.

He tried to stand up but hissed in pain when he stood on his left side where the arrow is still in.

"You want me to take that out for you ?" I asked and he growled at me.

"Hey if I wanted to harm you I would have left when they showed up plus if I do anything you could kill me with how close I am," I told him and he relaxed a bit.

I walked close to him with my hand outstretched in front of me. The Dragon looked at my hand for a while with my heart pounding in my ears and finally what looked like forever he pushed his head onto my palm.

With a sigh of relief, I put my hand on the arrow. "Alright, this might hurt a bit," I told him as I pulled it out fast followed by a roar of pain.

"Ok now try and stand up," I told him and after a few minutes, he was standing even though a little wobbly.

"I have to go I will try and come back tomorrow with something to eat if you are still here," I told him as I began to leave only to stop and turn around.

"You know what am going to name you because I don want to call you Dragon all the time," I said and after a while of me staring at him, it finally clicked.

"I will call you Troels which means Thor's arrow what do you think," I asked as he just stared at me until his tongue started until his eyes dilated and I got the impression he'd be running around if he was healthy.

"I'll take that as a yes good night Troels" with that said I left to go back home making sure I memorized the way to the cove.

........................................................

After that faithful encounter Hela had a new routine to follow, from helping her dad with tasks around the village, Training, creating or modifying her weapons at noon, testing out her weapons and heading to the cove in the evening to help Troels recover.

The Dragon was recovering quickly. The first week he was able to walk properly and jog around the cove. The second week he was running around happily and he took great pleasure in chasing around Hela so that was fun.

His wounds were healing nicely although they'll leave scars he seems to be taking great pride in them. They do make him look menacing and cool so yeah no complaints.

After a few months of them spending time in the cove, they bonded with each other very well. They even have competition over who the best shot is ever since Hela brought her compact bow and arrows with her.

But today was different. They were both sitting on top of the cove just watching the sunset. When Hela asked " What does it feel like to fly Troels? It's one thing I always wanted to try. The feeling of the wind hitting your face and the freedom of it all sigh."

Troels looked at his friend for the past few months and seeing the dreamy smile on her face he decided. He stood up and walked towards her biting gently on the back of her shirt.

"Hey what are you doing, WOAH" she managed to say before being tossed into the air and landing on Troels back. The Dragon himself walks over to the edge.

Her heart started to race when she caught onto what was coming next.

"Wait, wait, WAIT am not readyyyyyyyyyy" but he already took off at great speed going upwards. She hugged his neck as if her life depended on it which it does until he levelled out and glided in the sky.

                  (Hela's pov)

I slowly opened my eyes once I felt him level out and I sat up straight getting myself comfortable. Then I focused on the scene in front of me.

Seeing the sunset has always been a hobby of my but seeing from this height and on the back of a Dragon was breathtaking. That coupled with seeing the land down below covered with the reddish-orange rays of the evening sun was something out of a portrait.

"I think I just found my second favourite thing to do," I said getting a noise of agreement from Troels. That's how the flight was added to the list.
