4 Chapter 4: Ilara

The inside of the Wall of Garuh was way cleaner though of course it was just as busy and bustling as the Wall of Omire.

There were vendors everywhere with cleaner and higher priced products, workers using wheelbarrows to carry heavy objects, and the occasional lazy yet content cat sleeping at the doorstep of someone's home.

The houses were made of either high quality wood or stone and there were several potted plants decorating some of the homes.

She went straight ahead and turned right, beside the bakery was a library of a kind woman named Ilara. Ilara was the one who hired her two years ago when she desperately needed a job.

She suddenly remembered the first time she came inside the Wall of Garuh two years ago.

The guard at the gate was very reluctant to let Naera through as she was from Omire, though when she cleaned herself up, he decided it would be very amusing to see a poor orphan girl from Omire realize the harsh difference between her and the people above her in society.

When she first went in she got glared at, avoided, and got called names like "disgusting trash", "rat eater", "get back to the disgusting place you came from", etc. every time she tried to ask for a job.

Even though she was clean and made sure she didn't smell, the only thing that made her different from them was her tattered clothes which was a dead giveaway to where she came from, people still treated her like she was less than nothing.

Exhausted from walking around and begging people to hire her, she sat down the side of the road, ignoring how people looked at her with disgust, and thought how hopeless it was, thinking about how stupid she was into thinking she could get a job inside a place like Garuh.

"Are you alright?" a woman who wore a simple emerald green dress with long sleeves and a small bow decorating the waist of the dress, looked at her worriedly.

She had beautiful blonde hair that looked almost like white gold that was tied up in a neat bun. She carried a basket that had different kinds of bread in them.

"Are hungry?" She asked as she notice me staring at the basket. She reached for a loaf of bread and offered it to her.

"I-I'm not hungry miss, nor am I a beggar, I'm here to find a job, though thank you for the offer." She said as she studied Naera with her sky blue eyes.

"What's your name?" she asked as she looked at her.

"Naera, my name is Naera miss."

"Well, my name is Ilara, pleased to meet you Naera." she said as offered her hand to me. Shd looked at her completely bewildered.

"Is there something wrong?" she asked.

"Your-you're not...disgusted of me?"

"Why would I be disgusted of a human being! If I were, I should be disgusted of myself, because we're the same type of species." she said, completely shocked at what she said.

"But I am from Omire, the slums of Topalia. It doesn't matter if we're both the same species, I'm-" but the girl named Ilara held up her hand.

"Oh no! I'd hear none of it. You are the same as I am. We both have the same organs, we both have dreams, hopes, fears. Though different in many ways, we are the same nonetheless. And so, it is a pleasure to meet you, Miss Naera." she said as she smiled at her.

Naera was completely speechless for a couple of seconds. It was rare that she'd meet a woman who was as kind as her and who treated her like she was their equal.

"Uh-it's a pleasure to meet you also."
