1 Prologue

"Welcome to the Xavier's school for gifted youngsters or as the kids have taken to calling it, the X-Mansion." The bald man in a wheelchair smiled at him as they stood at the base of wooden stairs.

Looking around, Harry couldn't see anyone else around except the professor and the man they called Logan. Even though it was a boarding school, he wondered why there weren't any other students around before remembering the time and figuring out that they were probably sleeping.

He guessed that he was still in shock following what had happened. Harry shook his head to clear it before addressing the professor. "Thank you for having me."

The professor maintained the same warm smile before speaking.

"You must be exhausted. I'll let Logan show you to your room, we'll talk more tomorrow after you've rested." Following that, the professor made his way to something that looked like a study from what little Harry could see.

"Come on, kid." Logan had already made his way to the top of the stairs and was looking at him.

Harry gathered his suitcase and tried to make his way up the stairs with wobbly legs, not quite having the strength required to walk them up normally.

"Seeing you like this is weirdly satisfying." Logan smirked as he saw Harry trying to make his way up.

A spike of irritation hit Harry as he heard the hidden glee in Logan's voice. "Well, I'm glad I could amuse you." He replied sarcastically as he stopped halfway up the stairs to regain some strength.

Gathering up the rest of his remaining strength, he made his way to the top of the stairs and continued following after the hairy man. The man led him towards an empty room near the end of the hallway before pointing inside.

"This is yours now." After saying that, Logan stood quietly by, watching as Harry settled down into the room.

Harry didn't have the energy to take a closer look at the room that seemed to consist of two beds on either side of the room with two separate desks on each side. Moonlight was shining in through the window situated in the middle of the room.

The moonlight shone straight into his eyes as he laid down on the bed after setting his suitcase down, but he was too exhausted to get up and pull the curtains to block it.

His exhausted mind went back to what had happened just three hours ago, most of which he couldn't recall. What he could recall were flashes of orange and red, alongside something that didn't make sense. Sleep claimed him before he could think on the incident more.

Logan watched as the kid fell asleep almost immediately after hitting the pillow. He closed the door and began walking through the halls of the mansion, back down the stairs and towards the same study where Charles had gone. Opening the door revealed Charles sitting behind his desk, in the middle of discussing something with Hank before stopping as he stepped through.

"Ah, Logan. How's our newest student?"

"Fell asleep immediately after hitting the pillow." Logan replied as he made his way forward and took a seat next to Hank, grabbing the bottle of whiskey at the table before pouring himself a glass.

"He must have truly been exhausted after such an ordeal, which isn't surprising." Charles extended his own glass towards him, and Logan poured him a glass.

"Still, is it safe for us to bring him here? He isn't exactly in control of his mutation." Hank addressed them both.

"Better with us than on his own, or worse, with Magneto." Logan glanced at the doctor.

"I didn't mean anything like that. I'm just worried about the other students."

"How many of us could control our mutations when they awakened?" Charles asked towards them both. "It isn't an uncommon situation to happen."

"But his power is uncommon. I've never seen anything like it, and you know how much I've seen." Logan spoke directly towards Charles.

"Logan is right. It took us three and Storm to keep him at bay, and that's just after his X-gene awakened." Hank supported him.

"The kid also wasn't in control at all."

"Ah, that's where you're wrong, Logan. He still held a semblance of control. Otherwise, we wouldn't have been able to arrive in time, he managed to hold himself back for long enough." Charles sipped the whiskey as he looked at them both.

"You mean the kid did that intentionally? I thought he was just going completely crazy." Thinking back on what the kid did in order to try and stop himself made him surprised and angry. No kid should have to do something as brutal as that.

"Aren't you worried about it happening again? We don't have any data on how his mutation works or what triggers the transformation." Hank questioned.

Charles put down the glass in his hands and interlocked his hands and spoke to them both. "You don't have to worry about him losing control again, I've helped him maintain control over his powers."

The professor turned towards Hank. "Tomorrow, you can run a diagnosis regarding his mutation, granted that he allows it himself. If he agrees, I'd like to be present."

Hank nodded. "Of course."

"Now, I'm sure we're all exhausted after today. Let's get some sleep." After saying that, Charles started making his way out of the study, as did Hank.

Logan stared into space for a while, before regaining focus and downing the drink in one go. He stood up and started to walk towards his temporary room that was right next to the kid's. Even if Charles was confident that he had managed to help the kid maintain control over his powers, the professor still wouldn't leave it to chance and made sure Logan was nearby if something did happen.
