The Young Miss of the Fang Household

"Miss? Young Miss?" Fanny couldn't find her master anywhere that morning.

It was a rare thing for the quiet and docile like miss to wander much less disappear but when she asked to go for a walk in town with her for the first time that day, Fanny couldn't help herself and went along with her request.

Now she had lost her master. The favorite granddaughter of the Fang Family's master, the old warlord Fang Xa'an. Even if he had retired, she may as well committed treason.

"Young Miss?"

As she wandered the roadside she spotted a familiar back standing in the fields watching the cows graze.

"My lady-

Plop.

The young girl faceplanted on the ground.

Panicked, Fanny scaled the fence to enter the field.

Fei Guiying felt like someone decked her in the face. She struggled to stand as she realized she was lying face-first on the ground, she pushed herself up and paused to spit out grass, she slowly took in the sight of her dirt and grass-stained dress.

What the hell?

"Miss, my lady, are you alright? Please tell me you are...uwaaah!"

Fei Guiying's brow knitted at the sound of crying. Her head was pounding, the imagery of her dead djnn self and the man's angry screaming she recalled at once.

"For the love of God... would you shut up?!"

Fanny fell silent.

The glare the young miss was shooting at her was unbecoming in the most alluring fashion.

She had always been a sight to behold with her dull indigo blue eyes, within them were flecks of a dark iridescent blue- green concentrated at the bottom, reminding one of the eyes of a peacock feather with her deadpan emotionless expression but now with her annoyance even more so.

"F-forgive me..." Fanny squeaked.

Fei Guiying took in the young girl who stared meekly at her with wide eyes.

Who was she?

A screen appeared before her eyes.

[Memory Recollector: Fanny.

The daughter of a host's Mother's maid that was raised alongside the body to serve her.

an attentive subject that desires the host to show some more emotion. To become friends.]

Friends. It felt like a burdensome side quest she could ignore so she would. For now.

She sighed.

"I want to go home."

"Eh...yes, miss." The maidservant patted the grass off her as they walked, but she was still too dirty. To avoid others from seeing her like this Fanny suggested they take a shortcut back to the manor.

Fanny never would have thought, the person to glimpse her sorry state wouldn't be a peasant but the second young miss of the Fang family.

They ran into each other as she was entering through the back gate.

Fei Guiying walked on as if everything was still perfectly fine.

"M-miss!" Fanny called after her.

Fei Guiying turned around to see a flustered Fanny.

"Looks like elder cousin must have lost her mind in addition to her chastity?" A girl with a round heart-shaped face spoke. She had clear dark green eyes and small plump lips.

A question sign hung over Fei Guiying's head.

[Memory Recollector:

Fang Meiyi, the daughter of the body's Uncle. The body's Mother is a twin of Meiyi's Uncle. A wandering but reputable merchant that travels a lot, he doesn't have a physical house and always returns to his paternal household. Meiyi lives with her Mother and Mother's side of the family but occasionally visits the Fang household on holidays and occasions since they live on the same mountain. Fang Meiyi's mother is the only daughter in her family, boys are favored over girls, so she gets neglected. Meiyi yearns for her Grandfather's affection, although she gets it, she's under the impression he cares more for the body which only makes her hateful.]

Guiying nodded to herself.

A similar circumstance to her past life only different. It's not as if her Paternal Grandfather ignored Meiyi, she just wasn't satisfied with the amount she got and wanted all of his attention.

She's the only child in her family after all, she's selfish and thinks the world revolves around her.

A common reoccurring pattern of thought seen when an only child gets introduced to step-siblings. Even more so when she was raised in an environment where she was deprived of attention. Guiying, remembering her brother who never got any felt annoyed on his behalf. The brat should be grateful she's finally even getting any, she actually has the nerve to try to monopolize her Grandfather?

"Please watch what you say!" Fanny quickly sputtered.

She was met with a slap by Meiyi's servant.

"You dare to give orders to a master of the Fang family?!"

Fanny, held her cheek, her eyes wide. She opened and closed her mouth but no sound came out.

Fei Guiying sighed, it's not that she found her pitiful, she just couldn't stand seeing her do something unnecessary. If she gets kicked out from a misunderstanding, all the better. She can embark on her quest to look for that continent at once.

Still...

She walked over to the unsuspecting maid and raised her hand.

PAH!

The maid stumbled to the side and fell.

This startled Fang Meiyi who had only ever seen the indifferent version of her cousin.

"To think such vulgar things would leave your mouth, can't believe Uncle would raise something that was capable of spewing such venom." Although she slapped the maid, Guiying's gaze was fixed on her.

"I-

Guiying pinched Meiyi's mouth shut.

It just so happened that Meiyi's Uncle returned at the time to witness this site. He paused.

"What's happening?"

Meiyi's tearful eyes widened at the sight of him.

Fei Guiying blinked at him.

[Memory collector:

Fang Euren, father of Fang Meiyi, husband of Gu Hina, son of Fang Landan and twin brother of the body's late mother, Fang Eurenia.]

"Xiao Ying, let go of her and let's talk this out."

Guiying did so.

Fang Meiyi ran to her Father's side but she didn't like his tone, it's as if he already decided she was guilty.

"Father, cousin bullied me!"

A light in Guiying's eyes was shining as she sweetly smiled.

"Oh come on, you have to be specific as to why I bullied you."

Fang Euren's eyes widened slightly. This child... wasn't denying it?

"It's like this, Uncle. Just now your daughter accused me of something outrageous, my maid spoke up on my behalf only for her maid to raise her hand against mine. So I returned the favor."

Fang Euren looked to Meiyi's swollen pink lips.

"What did she say that was so unforgivable for you to render her lips like this?"

"It's really bad. I don't think Uncle will even feel good if I say it, after all who would cousin have to hear this from to say such a thing?"

Fang Euren was patient. He waited.

Seeing that he didn't care, Guiying continued.

"Your daughter, seeing my dirty clothes, accused me of having a tryst."

Fang Euren seemed unphased for a second but eventually, a sigh escaped him.

He thought it would be fine if she stayed with her Mother's family, but country folk were rather vulgar to begin with, when they see a girl in a disheveled state such things would naturally be thought of.

"Is that it?"

Fei Guiying blinked being caught off guard.

"Huh?"

"It's not just her, anyone would think that. Fanny, isn't that why you brought her through the back door?"

"Eh..." Fanny nodded.

"Of course, knowing your personality I'm not saying I believe something, rather I'm interested in the cause for your hostile behavior. Why would you behave like this? Meiyi has said much worse things."

Fei Guiying blinked. Was that the case?

Did... she just out herself? Forget finding her djinn's self granddaughter, if she's not careful she could be burned at the stake or accused of being an evil spirit!

"The truth is ever since the Miss fell earlier today, she's been irritable like this." Fanny spoke up when Guiying couldn't.

Fang Euren frowned hearing this.

"What were you doing that she fell like this?"

Fanny lowered her head.

Guiying wanted to speak up and say that the fault lied with herself but, the body was that sort of character. It was a soulless body that functioned on autopilot, solely created to be the vessel of Guiying's soul.

As far as everyone was concerned she had always been emotionless never responding to any sort of provocation.
