World Explained!

The following chapter will explain the mechanics of my world and some expanded lore that is not important for the story but will give the reader extra context.

Cultivation in the novel:

Cultivation in this novel is split into three different sections, the first is cultivating the body, the second focuses on the mind while the last focuses on the spirit. Most cultivators only have the ability to focus on one of the three sections while some extremely unique cultivators will have access to unique cultivation paths that include all three of the major sections, these include the path of the Phoenix and Dragon.

The reason that cultivators are usually limited to one section is their ability and the fact that that normal human bodies can only contain some much power until they explode. The unique paths slowly mutate the human body as they cultivate, allowing them to contain more and more power as they develop. For example if someone has a unique reptile based cultivation path, they will slowly develop scaly skin as well as stronger organs, larger Dantians and a more stable sea of consciousness.

Perks and uses of each Section:

Body:

Studying the path of the body will allow the cultivator to turn their very being into an unstoppable weapon. The cultivator pulls in Qi through the air and any herbs/elixirs they use in an attempt to harden and sharpen their bodies. This path is the most balanced of the three as it is not weaker to the other two and most cultivators in the world who do not have access to unique paths choose this one. Unlike the other 2 sections there are no major punishments for failing to raise to the next level.

Dantians: The user has a larger Dantain than the other two paths and this allows them to manipulate the Qi in the world around them in many different ways. For example it can be used to set swords aflame or reinforce their body against spiritual and mental attacks.

sea of consciousness: Exist but in a limited capacity to the other 2 paths.

Ranks of a Body Practitioner:

Every 4 ranks in a section is considered a threshold that a cultivator has to get passed, failure to do so can result in the cultivator not being to ever progress or serious injuries to the the cultivator.

Mind:

Studying the path of the mind will allow the cultivator to turn their very thoughts into an unstoppable weapon. The cultivator pulls in Qi through the air and any herbs/elixirs they use in an attempt to harden and sharpen their minds. This path is the most offence based of the three as it is simply overpowers the other two in pure power however it lacks any major defensive abilities. Unlike the other 2 sections there are major punishments for failing to raise to the next level in extreme cases, brain damage maybe the result.

Dantians: The user has a larger Dantain than the spirit path and this allows them to manipulate the Qi in the world around them in many different ways. However unlike the body path, only pure Qi is stored in the Danain as everything else is moved to the cultivators sea of consciousness were its is converted into an elemental Qi.

sea of consciousness: The powerhouse of the Mind path, the sea of consciousness converts pure Qi into elemental Qi that the user can then use as an attack. For example if the cultivator has completed the fire gathering stage then they can convert Qi into Fire Qi and in turn use that to shoot fire out of their hands.

Spirit:

Studying the path of the Spirit will allow the cultivator to turn their very essence into an unstoppable weapon. The cultivator pushes their spirit from outside of their bodies, the spirit can then be transformed into fireballs to attack their targets, a impenetrable wall or a projection of the Host's will and desires. As the Host gains ranks in the Spirit path, they will be able to hold their projections for a longer period of time as well as grant them more levels of independence. allowing them to create servants and warriors out of their spirit alone.. This path is the most defensive of the three at the beginning however for those few who are able to master this path, the later stages are extremely offensive and defensive, with legends stating the old dragon Emperor could create thousands of spirit projections of himself and siege empires on his own. Most people avoid this path however as failure to move up in ranks can result in the user losing nearly all emotions and becoming a husk of their former selves....

Dantians: The user has a Dantain however it is significantly smaller than the other two paths.

sea of consciousness: The user sea of consciousness has a larger however it is significantly smaller than the other two paths' Within the sea of consciousness, there is a portal to the main place of power for the Spirit Path.

Spirit Well: A Unique place of power for the Spirit Path, it is located in the sea of consciousness however it is its own entity with the body. When a Spirit Cultivator follows their path, this is were their power is refined and stored. It is rumoured that the Spirit well can store the souls of other dead beings, allowing the host to restore them through spirit projections and eventually craft a new body for the lost spirits.
