The house sparrows in the trees sang melodious chirps while they made their way out of the lush ferns in the crater's center. Sterling frowned. He noticed during the kiss that the passion Faye once held was gone. It was as if something inside of her was broken—like her soul had died.

When they arrived at the path that led to the stairs, Sterling noticed a scowl on Faye's face.

"What is it?" He asked.

"I—I… don't want to return there…"

His brown knitted as he inquired further into her cryptic response. "Go where - Faye? What is it that is bothering you?"

Her finger pointed upward to where ferns were missing, where she had plummeted from the night before.
