Luca Was Found!

Edna woke up the next morning. She looked around the room, disoriented. Seeing her surroundings, she was confused as to why her room changed to be more spacious and tidy. There were no broken windows or traces of blood in the corner of the room. Everything was clean.

Edna knew that there were many vacant rooms in the mansion. Did she sleepwalk again last night? Ah, Edna remembered! She must have fallen asleep before three in the morning! She immediately got up to see which room she had fallen asleep in.

Then, Edna was surprised to find she was sleeping in her master's room! That fear, however, subsided a bit when she didn't feel her master's aura anywhere. Edna ran quickly to her room to get ready to do her work.

There was something strange that day. She could not find her master anywhere. Not even in the room she was sleeping in, not in the garden, not in the library, not anywhere!

"What happened?" asked Edna confusedly.

Edna still made breakfast, and in the end, she ate it herself. The girl also drank the morning coffee because after waiting, which felt like an eternity, her master never showed up.

Having nothing to do, Edna tidied up the unoccupied room again. She even mustered up the courage to look into the bathroom, but her master wasn't there either.

The night fell. Edna was left in puzzlement. Neither her master nor Luca were back. But … if her master left, he would usually tell Edna so she would know if she should make breakfast or not.

Edna stayed up until three in the morning and slept. The next day was the same.

"Is our agreement canceled? Am I left behind?" she asked herself.

And it continued for the next few days. Edna couldn't stand this uncertainty anymore. The girl sighed as she sat by the fountain in the back garden. She looked at the reflection of the resplendent stars, as well as the brilliant moon shining on the surface of the water.

Edna would wait another day. If her master or Luca didn't come back and no news was heard, she would consider their agreement nullified.

Actually, Edna could have just run away yesterday or the day before, but there was something she couldn't explain through words alone, something that bound her to keep waiting and waiting.

Edna was afraid of her own feelings. She was afraid that she was already reliant on Luca and her master. Edna once thought that there was no other way other than to rely on the two of them to leave this kingdom.

However, over time, she began to feel that what she needed was not leaving the kingdom but protection. And she believed that Luca, as well as her master, could give that.

Edna stood up. She would prepare to leave the mansion tomorrow morning. Relying on others would only hurt her later on. Like how she trusted her father too much and ended up being betrayed as his father decided to let Uncle Jo marry her.

That day, Edna had completed her task. She would rest tonight, so tomorrow she had more energy to start her journey again.

Suddenly, a loud sound came from the direction of the door, making Edna get up with a startle. The girl put her vest back on and ran toward the source of the sound.

Edna found the two people she had been waiting for. Maximillian dragged Luca's collar, which was bleeding profusely. His master's clothes and body were also full of blood.

Edna ran over, wanting to help Luca, but Maximillian didn't let her do it. He threw Luca's body against the wall, causing the wall to crack due to the hard impact.

"AGHH!!!" Luca could only groan in pain.

"Luca!" called Edna.

"Stay where you are, human!" shouted Maximillian who saw his servant running towards Luca.

Edna halted. Her heart ached when her master harshly called her human. She tried to get rid of her disappointment and focused on Luca who was badly wounded.

"How could that be? You… a dragon… are controlled by a LOWER HUMAN BEING!!!!" Maximillian's scream echoed throughout the mansion, making Edna wince while holding her ears to root out the piercing pain.

Luca couldn't answer. The man looked battered with many wounds on his body.

"You are the weakest dragon I have ever met! You don't deserve to be in my tribe! No wonder your mate rejected you! You are weak, a coward, and chickenhearted. How can you be so easily deceived by humans? Have you forgotten that humans are full of tricks?

"They are the most cunning creatures. They can do anything just to feed their ego! You are stupid and useless! Leave this place and bring another dragon to take your place!!! If I see your face one more time, I might kill you right then and there!"

Maximillian left the mansion. Edna drew closer to the half-conscious Luca. The man had many wounds, like someone who had been tortured for a long time. She helped Luca to his feet, carrying him into an empty room, so she could help clean his wounds.

Edna took clean water to clean the wounds on Luca's body. She did it silently while pondering what her master had said. Edna already knew her master's hatred for humans.

However, she didn't know that the hatred was rooted deep in his heart. The way the man described humans was really awful.

And Edna was none other than human. She felt the man indirectly insulted her. Her master probably thought that she was just like any other human being. This made her fall into dismal.

Edna hesitated to use her blood to heal Luca's wound. However, the man was in great pain and looked pitiful. Suddenly, she clasped her own hands and shook her head. Edna shouldn't be like this. In order not to be used again, she had to strengthen her heart.

The girl cleaned Luca's wound carefully. She then gave Luca the cream given by the doctor for the wounds on her arms. Her wounds would never fully heal. Those scars would always be there. Hence, she didn't want to waste that precious cream on herself.

Luca needed it more. Edna then applied the cream, causing the man to wince in pain.
