CHAPTER 98

Houryu walked up the stairs of the restaurant as he thought back to all the whispers he heard from the first floor, 'seems I'm not the only one around for this auction… but then again, for those people to talk about it like that, it sounds like a pretty big event.'

'Well, the bigger the event, the better the items to be put on sale, right?' he concluded as he ascended the stairs one by one at an unhurried pace. He kept ascending the stairs, climbing floor after floor till the steps stopped on the highest level.

A beautiful woman, presumably the waitress, stood at the top of the stairs wearing beautiful and slightly revealing clothing, strangely it was maid-like clothing. She wore a beautiful welcoming smile on her face as she waited for Houryu to reach the top of the staircase.

"Welcome to the Men of Culture Tower, esteemed guest," she said smilingly to Houryu as he reached the top of the stairs. His face twitched as he heard her statement, '… It definitely is a place made by a man of culture… but hearing a woman say that feels really weird for some reason.'

Houryu ignored her and looked around, but apart from the obviously expensive decor on the walls of the room, there was nothing really of note except for the two doors at the right and left sides of the room respectively. The waitress did not show the slightest sign of discontentment on her face even though Houryu ignored her presence as he looked around, and even if she was feeling discontented, she didn't dare show it, as it was common knowledge that people who could be invited to the top floor of this kind of establishment, were people influential and powerful enough to end people like her in a heartbeat, without consequences.

Houryu however was not among such influential people, but he was powerful enough to end the whole "Men of Culture Tower" in a heartbeat… without consequence. The waitress however did not know that and with the natural oppressive noble aura flowing off of Houryu, she couldn't really tell the difference, so she waited patiently for Houryu, who was now looking back at her after taking in the surroundings.

"God, they need to change the name of this place," Houryu sighed as he looked back at the cute-looking waitress. The waitress did not show any reaction to his statement as she instead gestured, "please, this way," she said as she began to walk towards the room on the right side of the room.

Houryu followed her speechlessly, in deep thought as he admired her swinging as* *Cough* he followed her wordlessly. They walked up to the right door and the woman pulled the door open and walked in. Houryu walked in after her as well, into the unsurprisingly well-decorated room, the decorations were bright and colorful, and the windows showed off an impressive view of the city below.

"Nice enough," Houryu, commented as he looked outside at the view and sat at one of the well-carved chairs around the table in the middle of the room.

"Please make yourself comfortable as our chefs are already working on your order," the waitress said to Houryu before excusing herself from the room. As soon as the waitress left, Sylvia rose her head and jumped out from Houryu's arms and unto the table and off of it as well and began to have her fun exploring this new place, before finally stopping by the window that overlooked the city and stayed there looking down, probably entranced by the view.

Houryu didn't pay any attention to her antics as he was also deep in thought as well. They both stayed like that for a while until the sound of the door opening brought them out of their own worlds and brought their attention back to where they were currently. The doors opened and a line of waitresses brought in plate after plate of various delicacies and began setting them down on the table where Houryu sat.

Sylvia who noticed the movements began to walk back to Houryu who sat still in his chair, seemingly unmoved by the actions of the waitresses setting down the food on the table. He didn't move until Sylvia pulled his robe, asking to be carried back onto the table as she was thinking, 'If you ain't hungry, I am, so gimme some food!!!'

Houryu looked down at Sylvia who was pulling at his cloth and a slight smile appeared on his face unknowingly as he bent to pick her up. For Sylvia who was used to Houryu, she simply let herself be carried up by him… but the same could not be said of the waitresses whose brains literally short-circuited at seeing Houryu's handsome face, brightened up by the smile and illuminated with the glorious view of the city behind him, he pretty much looked like an immortal from another plane of handsomeness.

Houryu turned back to see the waitresses frozen mid whatever it was they were doing and watching him with pink blushes on their faces,

"Ahem…" Houryu cleared his throat loudly, bringing them out of their frozen state. When they realized that they all had gotten lost watching him and letting their imaginations run wild, they hurried up with setting the table and scurried out. The waitress who had led Houryu into this room in the first place was the only one who seemed to not have lost her composure, but the bright red blush on her cheeks told a different story, "When you require attention, send some of your spiritual energy through the platform at the edge of the table… I'll be on standby to answer to any of your needs…"

"Any of my needs?" Houryu's eyebrow went up as he heard her slightly sultry tone.

"Any of your needs," she affirmed with a slight lick of her lips.

"Ah… I see… ok then, I'll make sure to call, if I need anything," Houryu said, now understanding what she was trying to get across.

The waitress finally left the room and shut the door behind her, leaving Houryu and Sylvia the only occupants of the room.

"What's wrong with this world?"

"Vixens everywhere…" Houryu lamented to Sylvia, but she didn't care about his troubles as she was more fixated on the food on the table than his voice at the moment.

"We really need to find a non-violent way to get into the auction house… hopefully, whoever is next door has my invitation," Houryu commented as he sat down at the table with Sylvia, ready to deal with the food that was on the table in front of him.
