25 Pushing your luck

The atmosphere around the table was very awkward no one was talking just plates and cutlery noises are all that could be heard. She could feel Jaxson watching her. She new that they would have a big conversation ahead, so she ate quietly keeping her head down.

Jaxson filled her cup with tea and put another pancake on her plate. Paige sipped the tea but ignored the food. When she feels stressed she can't eat much and has no appetite this morning. She had only sat down to eat to keep cupcake company

Axel cleared his throat.

"What's the plans for today".

"Cupcake is helping me move back home". Paige put down her cup and looked up at Axel.

"No". Jaxson didn't want her to leave, how could he get her to forgive him if she left just like that.

"And that's why I want to leave. I do not deal with people with short tempers anymore".

"Pretty sister, your leaving?".

Paige put her hand on cupcakes head giving his fluffy hair a rub. She didn't want to leave cupcake. But leaving would help her sort out her feelings.

"We can carry on as we where before I moved in ok cupcake I just need a little space".

Cupcake hugged her stomach. She felt guilty but its for the best at the moment. She didn't want cupcake to feel abandoned by her moving out so she addressed Axel as she spoke clearly. She was afraid to look at Jaxson, it would only make her thoughts more cloudy.

"Axel I was only here temporarily while you where helping me with that problem. I assume its okay now for me to return home".

Paige didn't want to mention her getting beaten in front of cupcake and Axel understood that. Axel nods agreeing with Paige and letting her know it was safe now. Axel then looks at his brother telling him to let her go for now. Jaxson new his intentions to let Paige leave he was upset and angry at himself so he stood up and walks out of the kitchen.

"Could you please talk to him before you go. It's very hard to finally have your mate then for them to leave for any length of time". Axel smiles at Paige hoping that this misunderstanding wouldn't continue or else he would have a very sad wolf moping around the company and house.

"Sure, I'll pack first and cupcake can come with me for today. You can pick him up after work?".

"Ok and thank you Paige. I know this is a lot to take in but he truly loves you. Your mate is irreplaceable to a wolf. No wolf could hurt their mate I hope you know that."

Paige nodded and walked upstairs with cupcake. Jaxson is sitting her my bed.

"Hey cupcake, go pick some toys to bring to mine while I talk to Jaxson".

"Ok".

Cupcake waddles out and she kept the door open, too scared to close it. She looked at Jaxson he looked lonely and heartbroken. Her heart started to waver just looking at him.

"I was only staying a while any way".

"Are you leaving me? Are we no longer together?". He looks up at her, he looks sad and lost. Her fear disappeared and she walked a bit closer.

"That depends on you Jaxson".

"What can I do for you to still be my girlfriend? I can't cope if your not around". He runs his fingers through his hair.

"I have a past which I'm not ready to discuss, but I never wanted to meet another werewolf again. But you, cupcake and Axel have shown me your not all the same. One thing though your temper, you have to keep that away from me. I won't be with a hot headed wolf. I know what could happen if you get angry at me".

"I'd never hurt you".

"I believe in a man's actions before his words. Anyone can say nice things so you will have to show me that you won't hurt me. One chance".

Jaxson stands and picks her up and twirls her. She let out a small scream, she was not ready to be man handled yet. But she found out that she didn't mind this. He was happy again and she didn't have to see his sad face anymore. He put her down but still holds her small waist.

"Thank you beautiful, I only need one chance. I won't ever let you down or hurt you".

Getting a bit embarrassed she put her head in his chest blushing.

"Ok, I need to pack and you need to work".

"Your still leaving? I'll not see you every day".

There's the sad face again. She just needed some time to get her head around everything.

"Like a day, two days?". He asked hopeful it wouldn't be too long.

"No at least a month".

"Nope a week. That's it".

"Moving in here was never permanent for me".

"I know but ill miss you".

Ok he got her, his words where sweet just like him.

"One week, no disturbances. Just Axel and cupcake".

He huffed and looks a bit adorable.

"Ok but you must answer my calls and texts".

"Fine".

"Can I have a kiss before you leave?".

"Now your pushing your luck". She pushed his chest away.

"Just one to keep me going for the week".

The door opens.

"Ready pretty sister?".

"Nice timing cupcake, let's go".

She gathered her bag which she had already packed earlier. Jaxson takes it out of her hands as they walk downstairs and out to the front yard. She was glad she stayed and heard him out. Jaxson holds open Axels passenger car door for her and then he puts her bag in the car boot. She felt bad to leave him like this.

"Jaxson".

"Yes beautiful".

He runs round the car and looks at her. She reached up and brought his neck down then she kissed his warm lips savouring the fireworks on her skin and butterfly's in her stomach. Then she got in the car and closed the door quickly.

Axel smiles at his idiot brother that is frozen in his driveway and then he starts to drive away.

Paige looked back to see Jaxson still standing watching me leave.

It was best for them both. She could clear her head and try to figure out how to tell him about her past. Maybe talking and facing my demons will help she thought.
