7 Holy Light Magic

Thanks for all the comments in the previous chapter, I now have a good idea as to how I want Kenji's adaptive abilities to work, and I'm sure, at least hope, you won't be disappointed. Anyway, also thanks to Ash_RoSe for a suggestion regarding invitation of members. I've decided to put it to a vote, so please do so below.

I'll be counting them manually, if you vote twice then I'll only count the first one I see.

● Chat group invitations are decided by the members [VOTE HERE]

● Chat group invitations are chosen at random by the system [VOTE HERE]

Whatever the result, please do not complain. I'm fine with either and will let this poll remain until Monday next week.

At the current time, Kenji could be seen at the dinner table eating his breakfast as his father was on the couch watching television. His mother was also in the kitchen doing whatever it was she was doing, and as he ate breakfast, Kenji was keeping an eye on the chat group.

He positioned the holographic screen in a way that it looked as if he was staring down at his phone as he ate, as to obviously avoid his parents finding his activity suspicious. Right now, the chat group members were all discussing the new quest they were given.

He had just finished discussing with his parents regarding how he was going to be spending the next week off of school, though considering it was Saturday, it was technically five days off. It took a bit of convincing, but his parents agreed to help him book a hotel for the next week in Tokyo.

While it may seem a bit suspicious with his sudden absence from school, it be what it be. While people may wonder why he was suddenly not coming to school, hopefully they'll just shrug it off as him being sick or whatever. It's not an uncommon thing.

『Goddess of Planeptune』➤ So, we're hopping over to Ganyu's world in seven days? This is going to be totally wicked!

『The Fourth Primogenitor』➤ You should be more worried, we're literally going to be fighting against an army of demons if what Ganyu said is true. I don't know about you guys, but that doesn't really sound appealing to me

『Goddess of Planeptune』➤ Oh, relax! All we gotta do is kick serious butt!

『The Fourth Primogenitor』➤ God bless us all... from that picture you sent us, one of the worst monsters of your world are slimes with dog ears...

Ever since Neptune first discovered the picture function of the chat group, the first thing she did was send them a screenshot of the nation she apparently ruled over. It was quite the damn sight despite it just being a picture, an entire city that looked as if it came from the distant future.

『Legendary Cocogoat』➤ Please do be more serious, Neptune...

『Legendary Cocogoat』➤ Liyue back during those times were far harsher compared to the time I live in today, and the number of demons roaming around are far more plentiful. If it proves to be during the Archon War as well, then the demons will prove to be quite powerful...

『The Final Doomsday』➤ I agree with both Kojou and Ganyu. Neptune

『Goddess of Planeptune』➤ Boo~! Don't worry, just trying to lighten the mood. Also, what exactly are these Archon dudes you mentioned, Ganyu?

『Legendary Cocogoat』➤ The Archons are the gods and goddesses that rule over the seven nations of Teyvat. In fact, it was because many gods wanted to become these ruling deities that the Archon War started in the first place

『The Final Doomsday』➤ That's where the name comes from then

『Goddess of Planeptune』➤ In other words, they're the CPUs of your world! Does that mean I can be considered an Archon?

『The Fourth Primogenitor』➤ Nope, the term sounds way too cool for someone like you. Just go back to being a computer system component

『Goddess of Planeptune』➤ Rude!

『The Final Doomsday』➤ I'm more worried about how we'll influence Ganyu's world. From what I understand, we're being sent back into the past, and that probably means our actions will cause a butterfly effect on her world. Whether or not it directly changes Ganyu's present, or it creates a separate timeline overall, we need to be careful

『Goddess of Planeptune』➤ Ah~, yes, A fellow sci-fi movie watcher you are, Kenji!

『Legendary Cocogoat』➤ What do you mean exactly?

『The Final Doomsday』➤ I guess you aren't familiar with the butterfly effect. Essentially, if we were to make a big or small change in the past, then it could have a major effect on the future, meaning your present

『The Final Doomsday』➤ What I'm saying is we should be careful how much we change and just stick to the mission, otherwise our actions may cause undesirable consequences

『Legendary Cocogoat』➤ I see...

『The Final Doomsday』➤ I'm going to head off now, make sure you guys prepare in a week's time. Bring whatever you think will be necessary

After saying their farewells, the members went offline from the chat group one by one as they went off to prepare whatever it was they wanted to. Kenji was just going to bring basic necessities that he could fit into a big bag, things such as clothing, and perhaps snacks and such.

Once it was mid-day, Kenji had said his farewells to his parents before heading off towards the train station. The train ride itself was relatively long considering he was going to Tokyo from Kuoh Town, the time went by quickly though since he decided to have nap midway.

Upon arriving in Tokyo, Kenji quickly called a taxi to bring him over to the hotel he was going to be staying in. It wasn't anything luxurious, but it wasn't a bad hotel at all, it was pretty decent. He could easily afford a more expensive one, but considering his parents were the ones that approved and found him a place themselves, that wasn't happening.

True, he could just find a better one now that he was here, he didn't see a point in doing so. He's only here for a week to practice his new abilities, and on top of having the time when he gets transported to Ganyu's world, he had quite a bit of time.

Speaking of abilities, after settling back in, Kenji immediately made his way to the outskirts of the city where rarely if anyone visited. Once he got there, he immediately began practicing his new powers to manipulate holy light, he wanted to practice it as much as he could.

'So, conjuring weapons and other physical objects are easier...' Kenji had thought to himself as he stared at the slightly unstable spear of light in his hand. So far, he had attempted to create things like swords, hammers, and obviously spears as well.

As he continued practicing, what he noticed was that creating physical objects out of holy light was much easier compared to trying to manipulate pure light. If he had to make an assumption, it was probably because conjured items had a determined and focused form while pure light was just a burst of energy that has no true concrete form.

He managed to figure out how to fire pure beams of holy light, but he wasn't able to redirect or properly control the direction of said projectiles after firing them. Since it was light as well and the gravity on Earth wasn't nearly strong enough, his projectiles didn't drop at all when fired, they just hit wherever he aimed.

At the present time, Kenji was trying to practice keeping his conjurations properly in tact. Meaning, he wanted to make it so his conjured items of light weren't unstable and kept their shape. So far, while he managed to get the general shape, their forms would either flicker or disperse completely after a bit.

"Hm?" Kenji immediately narrowed his eyes when he felt like someone was watching him. As he kept getting stronger, he also noticed that his senses became far better than ever before, along with his natural instincts. As weird as that sounded. 'Is someone here? Thank god I decided to put my mask on...'

Kenji really couldn't shake off the feeling that someone was watching him, so he kept his guard up as he formed a spear in each of his hands. He tried to use his sense of smell to locate whoever it was, but since he didn't know exactly what scent he was looking for, it didn't exactly help.

'Damnit, birds. Shut the fuck up!' Kenji even attempted to use his sense of hearing, but due to all the ambient noise around him, it didn't help anymore than his sense of smell did. Soon enough, the feeling of being watched went away. "Damn. Either I was paranoid or there really was someone watching me... Shit, I might need to leave the city entirely to do this without being noticed."

Having these new abilities came with their consequences as well, unlike his Reactive Adaptation, his holy light could be sensed by supernatural beings. He had to way to mask that, nor did he know any way to do so. He wasn't sure either if his holy energy could be sense even when he wasn't using it.

All he could really do was be on guard at all times.
