5 Attack On The Church

A few days have gone by since his little chat with Issei regarding the guy getting a 'serious' girlfriend, and nothing interesting had really happened, at least nothing note worthy. If Kenji's assumptions were correct, then by now Issei should have become a devil as well as have been explained to regarding his situation.

Kenji did feel a bit conflicted since he did technically leave Issei to die knowing he himself could have saved him, but it was too late to regret anything now. Besides, knowing the kind of character Issei was, he probably would have accepted being reincarnated if given the opportunity, due to his...dreams.

Anyway, during these past few days, Kenji had just been going through life like normal, taking any opportunity he had to go around to see if he could find any other stray devils, though not much luck on that part. Encountering Viser seemed to have been a lucky encounter... somewhat.

Aside from that though, the chat group members had become more familiar with one another over the past few days as well. They had come to know that Kojou was in fact a vampire, you know, those blood sucking supernatural humanoid creatures that supposedly fear garlic.

Of course, Neptune overreacted upon hearing it, not unexpected.

『The Fourth Primogenitor』➤ I already told you! I'm a virgin vampire, I haven't drunk any blood!

『Goddess of Planeptune』➤ As if I'll believe that! Though, it's impressive that you can call yourself a virgin so easily

『Goddess of Planeptune』➤ Kenji, Ganyu! We better be careful! Who knows when he'll pounce and drain us dry!

Kenji snorted in amusement at the conversation, he return from school a few hours ago and had just gotten out of the shower as he watched the conversation go by. Neptune didn't seem like someone to let something go, and that was certainly the case in regards to Kojou's reveal of being a vampire.

Anyway, virgin vampire conversations aside, the chat group member known as Ganyu, or 'Legendary Cocogoat' had finally started chatting recently. She seemed rather reserved and didn't often send any messages, but the other three did at least know she was seeing the messages.

At first she was rather cautious and nervous to speak with them, understandably so considering the nature of what this chat group was. The girl also had an understandable doubt when it came to them being from other dimensions, but it was slightly going away as they revealed different things about their worlds

At the very least, she was starting to get more comfortable talking with them.

As Kenji continued watching the conversation progress, a familiar dinging sound entered his ears, making him blink a few times in confusion. He looked to the left of the chat box to see that a new menu had opened up, and what he saw made him widened his eyes slightly.

Objective: Eliminate the four fallen angels along with the exorcists that have taken residence at the abandoned church near the outskirts of the town

"A quest?" Kenji muttered in surprise as he scanned his eyes over the given contents. From the title of the notification, it seemed to be a quest just for him and him only. Glancing at the chat group, he saw that the others were still talking as normal. "Am I the only one that got a quest?"

Looking at the reward he could get, Kenji was pretty interested as getting more abilities under his belt was more than welcomed. He may have Doomsday's adaptive abilities, but all he really had combat wise was pure strength. He wanted some versatility along with that power.

Plus, if he got this reward, then he'd have his own trump card against devils and the like.

『The Final Doomsday』➤ Did you guys happen to get a quest?

『The Fourth Primogenitor』➤ A quest? I didn't see anything

『Legendary Cocogoat』➤ Neither did I

『The Final Doomsday』➤ That's strange, I was just assigned a personal quest from the chat group. How come none of you guys did?

『Goddess of Planeptune』➤ That's some baloney! My plot senses are tingling, and they are going sky high!

『The Fourth Primogenitor』➤ Ignoring her, what does it say?

『The Final Doomsday』➤ Apparently I need to deal with a group of fallen angels in an abandoned church

『The Fourth Primogenitor』➤ Fallen angels, huh? Be careful with that

『The Final Doomsday』➤ I know, I'm gonna head off now then. Don't know if there's a time limit to this thing or not

With that, Kenji switched off the chat group before quickly grabbing and putting on some clothes. He wasn't sure if there was a time limit to this quest, but it wasn't like he had anything better to do. Plus, the potential benefits from doing this quest were too good to be ignored.

It took a good while, but Kenji eventually managed to locate the church that the quest had mentioned. He had yet to properly familiarise himself with the town since he had recently moved here, so he didn't know much of the geography. Especially the location of an abandoned church no less.

After a bit, he had finally managed to locate the place and was now running through the forest towards the location. His current attire consisted of black sleek pants with white running, along with a simple white hoodie over the top, he had the hood over his head as well.

If you looked closer, he also had on black and white full-face mask underneath. He had bought the mask recently with the idea of hiding himself whenever he went on the hunt per say, and he really didn't want anyone to recognise him so he covered himself head to toe.

"So, that's the church..." Kenji slightly slowed down his sprint when he saw the rooftop of the church peeking out from the top of the trees. The roof alone was enough for him to see that it had definitely been abandoned for a good while.

"Hm? What's a human like you doing here?" Kenji stopped in his tracks when something dropped down in front of him. He narrowed his eyes beneath his mask upon seeing that it was a blond female dressed in a gothic lolita attire, along with sporting a pair of black feathered wings. "And what's with the weird mask?"

"..." Kenji opted to stay silent as he just stared at the girl. From the wings alone, it was pretty safe to assume that this girl was one of the fallen angels he was supposed to take care of. The silence the fallen angel received earned him a deep frown from the girl.

"Not gonna talk, huh? Oh well~." The fallen angel shrugged her shoulders before forming a pink spear of light in her right hand, flipping it around before pointing it towards him. "I was supposed to be on the lookout for devils, but since you look to be heading towards the church, I guess I'll have to deal with you as well."

"Tch." Kenji merely clicked his tongue at the statement as the girl reeled back the spear before throwing it at him. Kenji didn't say anything, nor did he move as he allowed the spear to strike his chest. There was some resistance, but the spear ultimately managed to pierce through.

"I'm impressed you can stay standing, even with a spear through your chest."

'Compared to having my limbs bitten off, this is nothing.' Kenji inwardly scoffed as he grabbed the spear before forcing it out of his body. Blood splashed onto the ground as the wound on his chest healed itself quickly. 'This isn't enough, that attack almost didn't even pierce through me. If I want to build a resistance, I need stronger attacks... damn, I really am starting to sound like a masochist.'

"Wh-What the...?" The fallen angel was taken back, not by the regeneration though, she didn't seem to notice that he healed himself and was more distracted by the fact that Kenji pulled the damn spear out. "Whatever, it's only a matter of time before you bleed out!"

"Mittelt!" A new voice called out as both Kenji and the fallen angel turned their heads up and to the side. Kenji narrowed his eyes when he saw two other fallen angels flying in the sky above them, a male wearing a fedora and the other a woman with long blue hair. "Be careful with this one!"

"What do you mean, isn't he just a normal human?"

"Take a closer a look." The one wearing a fedora commented as they landed and surrounded Kenji from all sides. Kenji didn't react at all to the fact, nor did he appear at all threatened. "He's not bleeding any more, he seems to have some kind of regenerative abilities."

"It doesn't matter though, we'll just kill him quickly so he can't regenerate." The blue-haired fallen angel spoke up next as the three of them formed spears at the same time. "Stand still now, human! Don't try and struggle now, this will be over soon enough!"

Kenji didn't speak as all three spears were then thrown at him, a blue spear managing to pierce right through his heart, another through both his lungs. The third spear, thrown by Mittelt, struck and tried to pierce through his skull.

Key word being 'tried' as the spear merely made a hole through the left side of his hood, but not managing to pierce his skull as the spear shattered into particles before it could even cause any serious damage. This alone told Kenji that this Mittelt girl was probably the weakest of this bunch.

Mittelt was understandably shocked. "Huh?!"

'Let's get this done!' Kenji quickly rushed towards where Mittelt was standing, his speed catching all three of them off guard as quickly appeared in front of the blonde. Before she could even react, Kenji sent a punch straight into her gut. Before her body could be sent flying, he grabbed her by the head before bringing it down into his knee. 'Oops, I think I just broke her skull... oh well, she tried to kill me, so whatevs.'

As this happened, both the other fallen angels finally regained their consciousness and snapped their heads towards where Kenji had attacked Mittelt. They saw the girl drop to the ground motionless, and considering her face was completely broken and pretty much caved in, they'd be surprised if she was even alive anymore.

However, what made it look even more terrifying was the fact that Kenji still had both their spears still pierced through him. They wondered why the male didn't just take them out like before, they had seen it happen when Mittelt first managed to hit him.

The real reason though was because Kenji was taking advantage of the fact the spears were hurting him, he could feel the pure energy they were made off stinging him as if they were hot metal. The stinging was quickly going away though.

"Who the hell are you?" The male fallen couldn't help but wonder before taking a step back when Kenji turned to face them. They watched as the male calmly and forcefully pulled out both spears, holding them in his hands as he advanced towards them. "Sh-Shit! Kalawarna, go and inform Raynare, I'll try to hold him off!"

"R-Right...!"

"You aren't going anywhere!" Kenji shouted as he broke into a sprint. Before the male fallen could say anything, he found his own spear thrusted right through his head. Kenji then turned towards the third fallen, who had a look of fear plastered on her face as she attempted to fly away. "Say goodnight!"

Kenji reeled the spear back before throwing it as hard as he could, the spear piercing through the sky at incredible speeds as it flew right through the fallen angel's head. The female fallen then dropped to the ground with a crash as Kenji watched with an indifferent look underneath his mask.

"I liked this hoodie as well..." Kenji commented casually as he looked at the bloody holes that were made by those spears. Kenji then shrugged before turning to look towards the church as he soon began running towards it, but not before turning to face a certain colour of red in the darkness of the trees.

The person who Kenji had looked towards silently but visibly flinched when she saw him look towards her, this immediately told her that Kenji had known the whole time that they had been watching the little fight, if you could even call it that.

"Akeno, just who was that?"

"I can't say I know. I don't sense anything supernatural about him, but that strength and healing capability was certainly not normal."
