5 The Hero Arrives?

That was quite the turn around to hear from this man. He seemed so kind before, so why the death threat out of nowhere? It was just so shocking, that Rame had no idea of how to respond to him. Especially considering that she hadn't done any evil deeds yet.

"Uh, sir, please don't threaten my employees." Juuto was also just standing there rather bewildered that this man just said that. He had seen him before, as this man had come in once or twice before Rame took the job. Pretty much every time he was here, it was nothing but kindness. The guy he knew would never hurt a fly, so where was this desire to kill coming from?

"If ya knew what she's done, you'd feel the same way!" He pleaded for his case, but unless there was more than just a vague accusation. Juuto wasn't going to be inclined to believe him.

"And that would be?"

"Well, 'cause she's the demon lord of course." He said it like it was a matter of fact. And it was the truth, but to someone who's not aware of they really were. Well, that's just crazy talk.

"Do you know him?" Juuto whispered over to Rame, who was sweating bullets during this whole exchange. She was getting scared that her cover was blown, but more importantly, because she had no idea how this guy figured her out. "Is this another one of those roleplaying things you're into?"

"How couldn't I know her? She's destroyed so many things…" He clenched his fists in a fit of rage. "That includes my livelihood." Sheesh, now that was quite the accusation to the manager. Not to mention that it didn't help Rame find out what exactly it was that she did to get this man so mad.

"Listen here." She tried to defend herself. "...Um, I don't know who you are." How could she even fight against an unknown figure?

"Name's Asaga Imaseki." He answered her. "Well, at least that's what it is while I'm here." When he said that, along with knowing her status as demon lord. He had to be from Enatis, but how? There's no way anyone can just cross worlds all willy nilly. Whoever he was, he must've been a pretty powerful magic user to chase her all the way here. But that accent isn't one that's common with wizards, so he must've been a pretty special man.

"And what makes you think she's this... Demon lord you're speaking of?"

"It's pretty obvious to me." He said. Which was kind of the case considering he caught her using magic once. That would be back when she went to try her first hot dog. During the time she went to scan for potential poisons, he was standing right outside the window.

Since the hot dog stand is kind of a big attraction for the store. Anyone can see it when walking by the store. Well, Asaga couldn't wait to get to eating his own food, so he took a moment to stop and grab a bite. While standing there, he saw her walking up to the stand and decided to see her take her own first bite into the wonders of a hot dog. Which is exactly what led to him being a witness of her using her own dark magic.

"I can't believe how careless I was." She muttered under her breath when she learned of her blunder. Still, she needed to defend herself with her manager here. "Well, that must've been some light reflection. You're obviously mistaken."

"Oh I'm not letting ya off that easy." He had calmed a little, but that desire to end her life was still there. After everything she had done, especially to him. There was no way he could stand to see her breathing. "You're a devil of a girl. If I let you continue your reign on the people of this world. I'll be just as bad as you and your cronies."

"And who are you supposed to be anyway?" Aside from never seeing him before, she knew for a fact that he wasn't the hero. The real hero of Enatis was some little girl, and he's practically full grown. Even without her full power, she should be able to handle pretty much any old person back on her old world. "Don't go off pretending to be some lame hero."

"Hey, you know you guys should stop fighting." Juuto tried to calm the situation, but his attempt was in vain. A part of him wanted to think that this was some silly role playing like from before. However, with how the tempers were flowing, it was looking a lot less than that.

Neither of them were listening to him, as they continued their battle of words. Things were looking back, but not only because a real fight was about to break out. No, it was because this war of words was doing the one thing that he could never accept in his store.

It was going to scare off the other customers.

"All right, that's it!" He had enough. "I'm calling the cops." This got the both of them to turn and respond in unison.

"You wouldn't."

***

He did.

"Okay, and that's everything that happened." Officers had arrived and got the two to settle down. Meanwhile, Juuto gave his statement of the event as he saw it. Though, he couldn't understand what got Asaga so angry about her. As far as he was aware, their only interaction was pretty positive. Plus, he hadn't been drinking or doing drug. The manager had worked the business enough to know what that looks, sounds, and smells like. But, there's no way what he said could be correct. That was the talk of insanity.

While he was mulling things over. The other two were getting a talk with one of the officers, who had managed to mostly calm this situation. "Look we understand that a lover's quarrel can get pretty heated."

"Lover's quarrel?" Asaga got beyond offended at that statement. "As if I'd even consider this monster to my girlfriend. I'd rather rather drown in a vat of lava." While he might've been mad about the insinuation, she found an opportunity to help the both of them out of this unfortunate situation.

"Don't mind him too much." She said. "He's just really heartbroken."

"What?! I knew ya to be a liar, but even this is too far."

"Just play along…" She whispered to him, but not with words. Even though she didn't want to waste too much of her magic, speaking telepathically was her only plan to make sure the police didn't hear their secret conversation. "Unless you want to spend a night in a jail cell, I can get us both out of this." Her spell didn't surprise him, but he was shocked to hear that she was going to help him out. Asaga knew he couldn't afford to lose track of her if he was stuck as a prisoner. And so, he went with her plan.

"Ehem, well. I might've lost my cool a little there." He said. "I just thought we had... Something... S-special." Saying that hurt him more than any broken bones ever could. To act as if he was in love with the demon lord of all people, that made him want to puke.

"But please, we can take care of ourselves." She followed up. "It was just a fight, nothing was going to happen."

"Are you sure?" The office wanted to make sure. "After all, he did make a threat."

"But he didn't have any weapons, so I consider that to be pretty empty." She countered, which technically made little difference. However, it was enough considering that she really didn't want him to go to jail.

Given the things that happened, Rame figured he must've been a pretty powerful magical user. To want to try and kill her without any weapons, he must still been able to use his magic. If she played her cards right, then there might be a way to find a way back home.

Fortunately for the two of them, the police were willing to be lenient for Asaga this time around. But if it happened again, he could very well suffer some serious consequences.

"Well that's the most excitement I've had all month." Juuto commented as he came up to the pair. "And probably more than enough to count for two lifetimes."

"Um, I'm really sorry." Asaga bowed his head down in shame, asking for forgiveness. "That was rather rude of me."

"Please don't do anything like that again." The manager was more than willing to forgive him, as long nothing like this ever happened. For if history repeated, then they would not be very merciful. "And Maou, you can just clock out early. I'm sure this all has been pretty hard on you."

"Thank you boss." She bowed her head in respect. This was where everyone bid their farewells. Both her and Asaga went their separate ways, but they both knew that was simply just a trick to make sure that Juuto was unaware of their status as other worlders.

Under their silent agreement, they both turned a corner to put them back on colliding paths. How was this second confrontation to end?
