8 The Devil and the Manager go Shopping

This was the first time in her entire life, that the demon lord had ever gone on an 'outing'. Not for a long journey, not an expedition for battle, nor was it even like a necessary trip like getting food ever since they got here. No, this was the first time she had ever done something that was for… Fun.

She wore the only type of clothes she could afford when they first moved in. Bought from the low cost store known as 'UniClo", it was a simple blouse and skirt. The skirt part of this outfit worried her a little as she went out into the colder weather. But she never did enjoy wearing pants back on Enatis, the only time she ever wore pants was for her work uniform during the shift. So these pantyhose were going to have to be her source of warmth.

Her illustrious servant on the other hand just had to get that maid outfit on sale. Mifuru just thought that clearly someone of her position should be wearing something like that. So she went for the one that happened to be on clearance, which earned her a lot of strange looks as she purchased it. It was from a failed promotion with some internet personality. So when they said they had never heard of them, people just had to wonder why anyone would want to buy something like that.

Anyway, she was walking to the agreed upon location where Juuto said he'd be. There were so many people wandering about as she went for him. It was the opposite that she was used to, compared to how few patrons would visit the store while they worked.

Meanwhile, the man himself was sitting at the spot he told her to meet him. Checking his phone, he was a little nervous about waiting here. For the first time in a while, he actually paid attention to what he was wearing. It felt weird that he was trying, but Juuto had no idea of what to expect from this girl.

She was such an enigma to him ever since the day when she started working. When he first met her, the man assumed she'd be some slacker who cared more about the nightlife, instead of caring of doing a proper job. He sure was glad that he was wrong in that assessment. Rame was probably the best worker his eyes had ever graced upon.

Whenever he needed something done, she'd do it without him asking. Whenever someone came in with a question, she was the first to answer it. He was astounded that anyone would take a job like this so seriously. He loved the place, but even he wasn't that excited to do everything. Maybe he should take a page out of her book sometimes.

Yet, despite her efforts. He wasn't sure why she seemed to know very little about the area. Sure, he understood that she had recently moved here from wherever. But, some of the topics they talked about seemed like things that anyone should know. It was as if she wasn't even from this planet considering how ignorant she was.

"You made it." He greeted her as she walked up to the bench he was at. For the firs time, he actually saw what how she presented herself in casual wear. Even if it was cheap, it really highlight how… Ladylike she was. "You, uh, ready for some shopping?"

Of course." She was excited to see what this was going to bring her. "But, just to let you know. I'm not exactly flowing with cash."

"Don't worry. We're just going to some novelty store. I'm sure we can find something cheap in there." And so he led her to the building that he planned their trip on. It was filled to the brim with anything one would need for holiday fun. Even if it many of them wouldn't be coming until many months down the line.

So in order to make sure that they stayed on track, Juuto took them to the aisle that stocked things fitting of the Halloween mood. Rame was impressed by the presentation of how humans designed their demons. It wasn't at all how it was supposed to be like. She would know, as a demon herself. But it was really cool for her to see their creativity shine through in the masks.

"You really like that demonic stuff, don't you." He commented with how much she gravitated towards it so quickly. "Looks like they've got some demon lord outfits if you're interested."

"Really?!" Like a moth drawn to light, she made a beeline towards what he was pointing out. Picking the one designed for girls, she went to place it over her to see how it would look. To her shock, there was a lack of anything that could actually cover her skin. This wasn't clothes that someone would wear normally, which is fine since it is a costume. It was just that this was more akin to a bikini than anything else. Complete with fake horns and a tail to top it all off.

"Sorry about that." Despite the apology, he still envisioned what she would look like in an outfit like that. Let's just say that there would be a lot of Rame to look at. "Um, I'm sure you can wear the one for men, if you prefer to cover yourself up more."

"It's… Fine." Disappointed, she returned it back onto its hanger. At least they got the horns and tail right, but that outfit was a bit too much for her. Funny enough, back on Enatis, she wore a leotard and cape. So it wasn't as if the real deal was any less ridiculous. "What about you?"

"Hm, It's been a while since I dressed up for these things." Unless you count wearing his work uniform to promote the business, then he hadn't worn a proper costume at the festival since he was in high school. "What if I wore a knight's armor? You know, like a hero?"

"Pff, disgusting." She took issue with that plan, since she hated those types of people the most on Enatis. "Gonna have to say no to that." That disappointed him, but it was her apparent disdain that caught his attention. It was like she had a personal grudge on them. "What? No way." She saw something that made her jaw drop. It was incredible for her.

"What, that hot dog costume?" He could see what she was looking at. It wasn't as great of a find for him.

"An outfit for the greatest food in the world? I want it." She was set on it the moment she laid eyes on the suit. There was no way she'd give up an opportunity to pretend to be something she viewed as so great.

"I guess that means I gotta wear something so we can somewhat match." He commented. Though food wasn't what he had in mind, perhaps he could use it to go to why he really goes to this stuff. The promotional sales.

"What if they had the two pieces separate?" She asked. "Like I could be the sausage, and you could be the buns. Or should you be the sausage, and I'll be the bread to hold you?" The way she pondered the question made him think she was serious. But he thought that there was no way she'd be so naive that she couldn't get the innuendo.

"Are you teasing me?"

"I don't know what you mean boss."

"Never mind, I'll just find something else to wear." He said, relenting on this bit. "Oh and we're not at work. Just call me Juuto, I'm fine if you call me when we're in public." She had heard about people around here being close enough to do this type of stuff. Apparently that meant they were friends now. So that's what it's like to be in a relationship like that, she thought.

"Then, you can call me Rame anytime you want." She chuckled at the thought of it. For a full-on human, he wasn't bad at all.

And so they went on the search for his own costume to wear. He wanted something that complimented the hot dog that she had chosen as her own. So they settled on something that resembled a fountain drink that some might be likely to grab along with a nice hot dog. Carrying them to the register, he wasn't looking forward to wearing something so bulky, but he was willing to take the sacrifice.

These things were made of really low quality material. Even if they weren't going to try to damage these things, the outfits were probably going to only last the one night that they were going to wear them.

"I guess that's everything." He said as they left the store. Finally, he thought, this little outing could end. At least that's what he was hoping, until he heard her stomach growl.

"Aww, I'm so hungry." She sighed. He was a little surprised to see someone not really get a little shy for someone of the opposite gender to hear their gut. Though he admittedly did feel a bit famished as well. "And I didn't even bring any money for food." She looked down at the bag containing her costume. Despite its appearance, there was no way she could eat that.

"Come on then." He grabbed her arm to lead the way once more. "There's a place near here that I get a discount. So we can grab a bite to eat there, I'll pay."

"If they got hot dogs, then I'll take a dozen."

"Can't you think of other food than that?" He glared at her. "It's noodles, but it's cheap and good. So I'm sure you'll like it."

Noodles, huh?" She thought of the stuff that Mifuru would make sometimes. In fact, other than rice with bean sprouts. Ramen noodles was the other thing that she made most. She didn't it was anything special, but her stomach was willing to accept pretty much anything at this point. "All right, lead the way then."

And so, despite his initial plan just being to shop for costumes. Juuto directed her towards some food, and this little 'date' continued on forward.
