56 Short

AN: This is a short chap, I'm busy re reading the Yuragi manga.

Alex was currently lying at the rooftop of the Inn, staring at the night sky. True, back in his space the sky is more beautiful, but he decided to just do it here so he can feel the cool breeze.

"What are you doing here?" Alex asked as he closed his eyes.

"To talk...I guess."

Opening his eyes, he shifted his gaze to the person who sat down beside him. It was Emi, wearing a yellow t-shirt and white jeans, she was looking at the sky.

"Talk about what exactly? And Where's Alice?"

"I left her with Sagiri so don't worry, as for what I wanted to talk about," Emi took a deep breath, "....I've been thinking about what Rika said to me during that time with Sariel."

"Hmm."

"She asked just how are humans any different from demons." She sighed and looked up at the sky as she bit her lips, "You know the answer I came up with? Nothing. Not. One. Thing. Aside from their appearance, they really aren't that different. Demons killed humans, while humans killed our fellow humans. Heh, doesn't that make humans far worse because they are killing their own kin?"

Alex hummed before he smirked, "Funny that you should mention that. Did you know, I was examining my own physique and found something interesting."

"....Interesting you say?"

Alex sat up and grinned, "Yeah, let me ask you, do you know why you can turn into angel form and human form at will? And how come you turn into human when you lose your magic?"

Emi rolled her eyes, "Of course, that's because I'm part ang—" her eyes widened as she understood what Alex wanted to say as she looked at him eyes wide open in shock, "No...way."

"Looks like you understood huh?" Alex hummed, "Then how come Ashiya and I, a pure blooded Demons, have a human form? Not just a form produced by magic mind you, but our demon biology itself changed into a human, even our multiple hearts will disappear, leaving only one."

(AN: In the Anime, Ashiya commented that anatomical model is wrong because it only has one heart, it might have been hinted that he and other demons have two or more hearts)

Emi just remained silent as she thought of that possibility. If that's true, then wouldn't that mean...

Alex smirked, "Look at Lucifer and Sariel, their appearance did not change whether they have magic or not, aside from wings of course, because they are a pure blooded angels. Then how come our appearance change to a human just like you who have a human blood? Well, it's pretty obvious right?"

"...you have a blood of a human." Emi muttered.

Alex shrugs, "I may not know my parents that well, but they're a hundred percent demon, same goes for Ashiya. There could only be two possibilities for this, first is during the time long forgotten, a human mated with a demon and gave birth to a half demons....or demons were once humans."

Emi remained silent as she looked down, her bangs covering her eyes. If the second possibility is true then, wouldn't that mean she has been killing humans?

That was a terrifying thought for her. She doesn't know how many demons she had killed, hundreds? Thousands? Tens of thousands? If they are really humans then....

She feels like she might throw up. She was trained to kill demons that's why she doesn't feel anything from killing them, but killing perhaps tens of thousands of humans? Her own kind?

It was sickening.

(AN: You, novel readers, you know about it right? Remember that Alex only read the manga and not the novel so he did know about it)

"Well, I just heard something terrifying."

Emi and Alex looked towards the voice and saw Suzuno standing not too far from them, wearing her trademark kimono.

"Suzuno." Emi muttered in surprise.

While Alex just gave her a nod, he already felt her approaching earlier after all, so he wasn't really surprised by her appearance.

Suzuno gave them a nod before sitting beside Alex, "....You just said something that shook my resolve Alex-dono. If demons were really humans once....I don't know of I could kill them as easily without giving much thought."

Emi nodded her head but remained silent.

Alex sighed, "That was just a theory though. If there is someone who might know, then perhaps the First Generation Angels, like your mother Emi."

Emi remained silent. Alex actually offered her to go and meet her mother, but as expected, she really wasn't ready to meet her yet.

As for her father, she already seen him, but her circumstances prevents her from meeting him. She doesn't want the Angels to know that her father is still alive and where he is.

This is completely different situation with Rika, who is only a friend of Emi, and only knows about her being an angel.

Emi's father on the other hand, has been deemed as a threat for being her father. Since his existence is a threat to Heaven, and the Angels surely wouldn't hold back on killing.

So meeting him now, would surely put his life to risk more than ever.

Alex oberved Emi as she seems to just looked at the sky in a daze.

He sighed, and lied down on the roof, "Oh well, if you still isn't ready then never mind. Just take your time."

Emi bit her lip and gave a nod.

Suzuno gave her a pat on the shoulder as she smile, with Emi giving her a thankful look.

They then lied down beside Alex, staring at the night sky while enjoying the cool breeze.
