33 Chapter 3: Demon General

"You know...I met your mother."

Alex doesn't know much because he only read the manga, but he was sure that the reason why Lailah doesn't interact much with her daughter and husband is because she was being hunted by other angels.

After all, she did try—and succeeded, on stealing the Yesod from the Tree of Life, which are being used by the Angels to supply them with energy to power themselves.

"W-What did you say?"

Emi stared at Alex with a look full of disbelief. Ever since she was a child, she have never met her mother, and even her father only occasionally mentioned her.

The only thing she knew about her from her father is that her mother is really kind, playful, and is an angel, from which her Angelic blood came from.

Alex looked towards a tall building on the side and glanced at the top, where he can see a silhouette of a woman looking down at them.

Emi noticed this and also looked towards the building, she narrowed her eyes as she also saw a silhouette of a woman there.

The woman seems to face her and smiled, before a pair of white Angelic wings appeared on her back as she flew away.

"I-Is that..." She turned towards Alex, who was looking at her calmly, "I-Is that..."

"Yeah, it seems like she has been watching over you ever since you came here in Japan." Alex stated. He had a short "talk" with Lailah just now, reprimanding him that telling Emi about her is dangerous.

Though he convinced her that he is more than strong enough to protect her daughter, and even her if the need arises.

Emi took a deep breath and glanced behind her, to her friends. Albert and Emeralda just nodded at her as they left and went back to MgRonalds.

She mouthed a 'thank you' before turning her attention back to Alex, "How do you know her? How did you two even meet?"

And how come she just let you be? She wanted to ask, but decided to personally the person herself. Does she not love father that she wasn't even willing to avenge him?

"Are you perhaps thinking about why your mom just let me off?" he smiled as Emilia just nodded. "Hmm, let's just say we go way back. Your mom is a very important person to me you see."

"Huh? Don't make me laugh! A Demon treating an Angel as an important person?"

Alex smiled, "That's true though. But I'm not going to talk about that. I'm here to answer another of your question; Why did your mom never showed herself to you?"

Emi's eyes widened as she stilled. She stared at Alex intensely, curious as to why her mother never really showed herself to her.

"Let's just say...your mother committed crimes that endangered Heaven. One of them is something I wouldn't tell you for now, and the other is giving birth to you."

Emi raged as she grabbed Alex on the shirt, "Bastard! Are you telling me that my birth is a sin?! Huh?!"

'I probably should've said that better.' He cursed in his mind before continuing, "Its not that, let me finish first. You know about how a human and monkey can't have a kid right?"

Emi let go of him as she frowned, "Of course I know!"

"And why is that?"

"Why? Because they're different types of animals."

Alex hummed, "Well they're both primates right? Different species of cats and dogs can breed and produce offspring yeah?"

"That's because their genes are a lot closer to each other!"

"So you're telling me that the boundary that separates humans from monkeys are too much to overcome?"

"Yes! Now what are you getting at?! And how is it related to my birth being a sin to the eyes of heaven?"

"I'm getting there," Alex smiled, "Like, so...why are humans and angels any different?"

"Huh?"

"You are the daughter of an Angel and a Human, and that is the reason why your birth is a sin. You put it best just a second ago, their genes are a lot closer. So in the realm of creatures, which do you think it is? Are Humans Angels? Or are Angels Humans?"

"Which...What do you..."

"Back in Ente Isla, its fine since their level of science is still primitive. No one will question why an Angel can breed with a Human. In fact if I didn't brought this up, you wouldn't think about it no?"

Emi remained silent.

"Once the people of Ente Isla learned about this, there will surely be chaos and the Heaven will be threatened. Some might refuse to believe it, some might stop believing in Angels, and some might even get too full of themselves and will try to find out who is more superior."

Alex looked at the direction of the hospital where Lailah was working, "And that is why, Lailah couldn't meet with you, because she knows this too, and is being hunted by other Angels, of course there is another reason, but that's a story for another time. And since you and your friends came in this world too, they might also hunt you down."

Alex turned his gaze back to Emilia, "You understand Emilia? Not only the Church, the entirety of Heaven will be your enemies.....heh, when I put it like that it seems like you and I are in the same boat huh?"

"The entirety of Heaven...But why would they do this?" she muttered in a low voice, that only she and Alex could hear.

"That's simple, to keep their superiority. You might or might not have wondered why, aside from telling the humans about you, the angels did not offer any help to humans. That's because they don't care. For angels who have long lives, human lives are just a number, I mean, you guys get pregnant and give birth only after nine months, and there are billions of you."

"B..But even so..." Emi glared at Alex, "Even if the Heavens will hunt me down...I will take down you with me! Its your fault...everything is your fault...our home...our lands...my father...you're the one who took everything away from me!"

Alex remained silent. He remembered that in the manga, Emi almost broke down after hearing that her father is alive. Because the very reason why she endured years of torturous training, and slay demons, was for the sake of avenging her father.

If it wasn't for Alas=Ramus pulling her out of her depression who knew what will happen to her.

However, it also doesn't change the fact that it was because Emi found out that her father is alive that she began to show her gentleness and affection to the Demon King.

'Ah whatever, if Emi can at least mellow down after this, it will be much easier for her to accept and care for Alice.'

In fact, even in the original Emi cared for Alice so much despite her hatred for Satan that she even grabbed Camio(Satan's Advisor) on the neck and threatened to kill and cook him as a part of her curry for making Alice trip herself from chasing him.

"Your father...." He spoke, gaining the attention of Emi, "...Is it perhaps Nord Justina?"

Emi paused, her eyes widening as she began to think of various reasons as to how the Demon King knows about her father.

'Let's just say we go way back. Your mom is a very important person to me you see.' Was what the Demon King said to her earlier.

If that was true, then her mother could've also told him about her father.

"From your expression I guess that's a yes." Alex said as Emi bit her lips and nodded, "If Lailah is still the Lailah that I know, I know for a fact that your father is still alive."

"Bullshit!"

Alex actually took a step back as he stared at Emi in shock. He blinked, before shaking his head and gave a wry smile, 'Right, I forgot that she has a rather sharp tongue even Angels weren't spared.'

He faked cough before continuing, "As I said just a second ago, If Lailah is still the Lailah I know, then she would surely help your father survive. She is not someone who will abandon her love ones who are in danger. Even me, who is a stranger to her many years ago, was saved by her. There's just no way she'll abandon a love one who is in danger."

Emi trembled, tears were starting to fall from her eyes but she quickly wiped them and gave Alex a weak glare.

"Don't..." She said with a low voice.

Alex stared. Thinking that maybe its too much for her digest all those information all at once.

She bit her lips and shook her head, "...Please...Don't...Don't give me hope..."

Alex's eyes slightly widened at that. The Emilia in front of her is not the heroic one he knew, but a weak girl who was giving an almost begging expression.

She just found out that about her mother and why she abandoned them, and in the process also found out that she and her friends might also be hunted by heaven just for being here on Earth.

Then next she found that her father might still be alive, and if she begin to feel hope, and only for it to be crushed when it turns out that her father is really dead...then she might really break.

And Alex knew this.

"...Hey, you might not be able to trust my words, but you can at least trust Lailah right? She might not have been with you since you were young, but she really cares for you. Just now, you saw her right? She was watching you. She willingly risk her life so that you and your father could be safe, now there's no way someone like that will just leave her important people to die yeah?"

"....."

"I know where to find your mother, you can talk and catch up with her, and if you bear a grudge to her for leaving you, then you can body-slam her." Alex extened his hands as he smiled, "What do you say?"

She hesitated. Her instincts and hatred for demons were screaming at her to not believe him...but the love and care she held to her father was telling her to accept.

Its a gamble for her, no, a leap of faith.

She raised her hand, but hesitated and took a look at Alex, before she took his hands.

Alex grinned, "Good, and since you're pretty much the enemy of heaven right now, then you're only choice is to side with me yeah. After all, if you're father is really alive and is here on Earth right now, then surely he'll be targeted too."

Emi stared at him, before she gave a weak smile, "...I guess.."

"That's good!" Alex grinned as he nodded, "Then from now on, you are no longer the Hero Emilia of Humanity, but the Demon General Emilia, of the Demon King's Army!"

She blinked.

"HUUH?!"
