12 The Plan

A few minutes before the expedition started, in Ajax's mind world, a world where a person's every conscious and subconscious thought was exhibited.

Countless mirrors shone like resplendent stars with their own attractive designs. Each of these mirrors showed different memories of Ajax.

Whether it be his 7th birthday or even the day he was welcomed into The Night Descent as a leader, they were all reflected in one of the mirrors. These mirrors reflected not just the look of those moments, but somehow even reflected every feeling he felt.

Roaming through the dark world was a copy of Ajax who was holding 3 red strings in one of his hands. He followed one of these strings after what felt like hours but was actually seconds to a mirror that reflected a parking lot with confidence.

He put out his foot and stepped on the mirror, causing ripples to spread out once his leg sank in. He walked through this mirror and appeared in the parking lot he first arrived in, in his spectral form.

The string he followed was the connection he formed with Thing 2 and the respective mirror was the memory of the existence of Thing 2 himself.

Ajax was able to manipulate this connection and memory to allow his spectral form to travel with it as a medium.

So, by doing such, he arrived inside the body of Thing 2 and floated out to get a wider perspective of where he was.

The concept was nothing short of supernatural, but carrying it out seemed completely natural to Ajax.

Thing 2 suddenly felt a cold feeling rise from his spine while his head felt fuzzy. That feeling slowly disappeared like a breeze passing by.

From what Thing 1 taught him, he knew Ajax was currently looking at him. He became internally excited.

Blake who was beside Katie somewhat sensed something as turned to look back at Thing 2, one of the bodyguards. "What's wrong?"

Thing 2 shook his head. "Nothing. Let's just escort Lady Renald."

They brought Katie to an area nobody could see as she covered herself with a towel.

She dressed up out of everybody's notice and came out with a well-designed dress.

The bodyguards clapped with serious expressions. One remarked with a similarly serious expression, "Beautiful.."

Katie's eyebrow twitched. "At least try doing it sincerely!"

Ajax who properly took in the surroundings went back into Thing 2 and transferred a memory packet over as a form of communication.

Thing 2 who felt that feeling once more suddenly recalled something and memorized it to the best of his ability.

It was some sort of plan?

It seemed that Ajax wanted them to test some things out and cause some sort of commotion. When Thing 2 carefully dug through the plan his face turned quickly pale as his lips started to shake.

He muttered under his breath with a voice that quickly broke apart, "A m-monster. A tr-true demon…"

At the same time, Thing 1 and Thing 3 recalled similar things, trying to memorize them to their fullest extents.

Thing 1 just rose an eyebrow and shook his head while Thing 3 started to think over his life choices with a horrified expression.

The plan was simple: gather exp for Ajax. To make sure the plan was possible, they had to check to see if transferring exp from one individual to another was possible.

So Thing 2 was to check that out.

Ajax's plan was like a large-scale bank heist, except if anyone resisted, they were to eliminate them.

At the same time, along with the exp they obtained, they had to milk out exp from people who had any sort of clue on how to gain exp.

Only Thing 1 was able to carry out the latter part of the plan since only he and Ajax had enough understanding of the mysterious mind world to figure these things out.

So, before Ajax arrived back from his expedition with the rest of The Origin Team, Thing 1, 2, and 3 had to carry out this plan Ajax sent them seconds after he left.

Ajax knew he couldn't carry out this plan himself when The Origin Team was around. This was because of an instinctual understanding that he developed in his last life as an assassin. This was because he knew that The Origin Team was very strong.

It took him quite a bit to rack his brains over it, but Jordan had to be immensely lucky to form such a group with powerful members.

The reason for this was that, when Ajax was first communicating with the members, he found out that the one that was trying to mock him, the one he memorized the features of, was a Soldier.

He didn't know what a Soldier could do, but he did know that when he was surrounded by these teenagers, he felt their life force skyrocketing as if it could blast a hole in the sky.

As an individual who'd prefer benefits with little risk, Ajax schemed a way to get these kids out of the vicinity for a certain part of his plans.

That worked well to his advantage as these kids were thinking about doing that in the first place.

So after entering the first building in ruins, Ajax told the Things to update him on the progress of the plan.

They were more than excited to update Ajax as that meant they'd be able to directly communicate with him, even if it was just in the form of memory transfers.

That being said, they were truly confused on the idea of the mind world and how they were able to access this place. Normally, it seemed that accessing this place was nearly impossible in terms of difficulty, but after entering this other world, this ruined Earth, the difficulty level dropped drastically. They learned it in a matter of hours, rather than the months that it took for Thing 1.

In the meantime, Thing 2 was walking around, escorting Katie to another place in the parking lot.

Of course, every place in the parking lot was exactly the same, but after the Job System Shop opened up, this was no longer true.

People set up camp in certain parts of the parking lot. Along the walls, people developed multiple-story houses and in places that lacked walls, people simply put four walls together and a roof.

The place looked like a civilization built in a forest with the columns like trees and the houses wrapping around them.

This was all possible by just buying it through the Shop. It even provided a function to buy in "bulk" where it would create a house on its own with perfect structuring.

The Job System was clearly very convenient, even though its purpose and origin was unknown.

Thing 2 was escorting Katie to one of these places. This was where a Tea Party was going to be held. Katie and a few other important people which happened to be brought into this world as well were going to convene in this area in an event.

Of course, the design was nothing simple and was very exquisite.

Thing 2 tried to shake his thoughts of admiring the great design as he led behind Blake, who personally brought Katie under the curtain door.

Blake personally stood indoors as Thing 2 and the other two bodyguards stood guard outside.

While standing outside, the bodyguards waited for other people in fancy clothing to arrive before collapsing on the floor.

Thing 2 let out a long sigh. "Those rich bastards."

One of the bodyguards Thing 2 got to know laughed in response.

The other bodyguards were male teens going through puberty, so Thing 2 immediately jumped into dirty talk with a smile. This was a point he was going to gather information in.
