Meeting the Devil at 13

Yes the age was pretty important. Me at 13 was...how can I say this nicely? I honestly don't think I can. I was such an a**hole. I got my first period that year. I lost my dog. I had undiagnosed Attention Deficit Disorder, Anxiety and Depression.

I feel old saying this but back in my day mental illness just was not a thing yet. It is definately more talked about by Millennials and kinda by Gen X but not by Boomers. I'll tell you what kids, being 64 with acknowledged mental health issues are a special kind of Hell (yes that was a pun and you should laugh). Back when I was young, I was that kid that could never focus, was irrationally angry a lot, cried for no real reason, and yet by some miracle got straight A's in school.

Every class had one of those. If you didn't have one...then I got news for you. You were that kid. That doesn't mean you have a mental illness but it certainly is symptom that's for sure. When the Devil showed up into my life he certainly wasn't what I was expecting. I'm crying alone in my room and suddenly I hear this deep voice go, "I can make you feel better."

Swear I screamed like a sissy. I monkey screeched and grabbed the gun I kept under my pillow. My father taught me how to use it too because he was a second wave feminist. My dad told me to "Shoot off the d**ks of any man that puts his hands on you and ask questions after."

I pointed the gun at him and he raised his hands up saying "woah calm down. That won't work on me anyways."

I stared at him. Green skin, cat slit red eyes, horns, goatee, long black hair and built like a brick s**t house. We are talking professional wrestler level ripped. I wasn't sure what to think of his appearance but I didn't hate it.

"Who are you? Why are you here?" I asked him.

"I'm the Devil, and I'm here for your soul." He said.
