5 Tell me what to do

"Yes! I am — I guess!"

SLAM!

Luca drew a deep breath. Standing behind the shut door, her back nearly fused with it when Nova looked back at her.

"Tss." Nova hissed before jumping on the bed. She sat on the corner, and then patted the mattress. "Sit."

"Gosh... I think I'm going crazy," mumbled Luca, as she reluctantly approached the bed. She moved away, perching on the edge of the bed until her back was against the headboard.

"Can you really talk?" she blurted out under her breath, warranting an eye roll from her beloved cat. "Fine. But how can you talk?"

"Is that really your primary concern?" Nova looked at her dead in the eye, lying comfortably on the bed. "How can a cat talk? Don't humans have this app about a talking cat?"

"But it's — it's crazy!"

"Hah... aren't you a crazy bitch yourself?"

"What...?"

"You killed yourself. If that is not what you call crazy, I don't know what is."

Luca huffed in distress until her stiff shoulder relaxed. She already felt exhausted just an hour after she woke up because of the high emotions she had expressed.

"I'm sorry," she whispered. "I was just... blinded, and I was hurt."

"So you chose to run away from the problem?"

Luca nodded. "I didn't know what to do..." her lips quivered, biting them to stop her eyes from welling up. "I loved him, but he..."

"Goodness... the drama..."

"Nova!" she intoned.

"But it's true." Nova snorted. "He cheated on his wife with you. So, it will be naive to think he won't do that to you."

"But I didn't know at first..."

"Doesn't matter." The cat's eyes grew icy. "You stayed even when you knew he's married."

Luca bit her lips harder and lowered her eyes. "He said their marriage is already in shambles and George was simply giving a hard time to sign their divorce papers. I'm a fool to believe his words."

There was a moment of silence that descended the room after Luca's remark. Despite the confusion and the strangeness of the situation, Luca didn't mind talking to her cat. It was not like this was the first time she vented to Nova. It was just that this time, Nova was talking back to her.

"I loved him, you know that." She wiped the corner of her eyes. "And it hurts when you believe in someone with all your heart, only to get betrayed by them."

"Gosh... meow." Luca glanced up at Nova when she meowed, only to catch her cat rolling her eyes.

"Pfft--!" she bit her tongue. "Are you always this sassy?"

"Well, duh?"

"Right... You've been like this even when you're not talking." Luca sniffed hard and cleared her throat.

"It seems you don't need some scolding since you already figured out your fault."

"I had always known it was wrong."

"But you were so blinded by this disease called love. Ew."

"Nova..." Luca let out a deep exhale, studying the black Persian cat lying comfortably on the other end of the bed. "What happened to me? How come I'm back three years in the past?"

"Well... you're not exactly back three years prior to your dumbest decision."

"Huh?"

Nova studied the confusion dominating Luca's eyes. A quiet sigh slipped past her nose, changing her mind to detail everything. It was such a bother.

"I didn't drag you back into the past, but you can say that," she explained, causing Luca's brows to knit. "Stop asking so many stupid questions, will you? From now on, I will only answer questions that are easy to answer."

"Are you bipolar?"

"..."

Luca leaned back and stared at her cat for a few minutes. "How did you do it?" she asked. "How did you bring me back to life?"

"Black magic." The cat yawned.

"Black magic?"

"Can't you use google?"

"But you said you will answer easy questions! Will goggle answer this phenomenon I am going through?"

Nova remained silent for a moment. "Make sense. I'm already getting hungry and not in the mood."

"Bear with me, Nova." Luca moved forward with her hands on the mattress. "What are you? A werecat? Do you shift like those werewolves movies?"

"A were—hah! What an insult!" Nova scoffed. "Do werewolves use witchcraft, huh? No! Witches do!"

"So you're saying you're a witch?"

"The best of the best." A sense of pride oozed from Nova's voice.

"Really?" Luca titled her upper body to the side to study Nova. "Can you prove it?"

She flinched when Nova hissed at her.

"You're alive! What proof do you still want from me?" Nova looked at her in disappointment, in disbelief at the stupid questions.

"Right..."

"Now bow down to me and worship me!"

"Have you also had such sentiments in the past?" asked Luca with a sigh. "I mean, I think I've always worshipped you, even in the past. But... I thought witches only exist in the past. No one is even sure if they were myths, since they persecute women and call them witches."

"Well, duh? We do exist."

Luca licked her lips and studied Nova. Everything was still a shock for her and was hard to take it in one go. Not to mention, she had just woken up. So, she couldn't raise more questions than how she had gotten back three years prior to her suicide, and how could Nova talk?

"I'm tired," she announced lazily and collapsed to her side. "I died and then woke up three years in the past. Right this second, I hadn't met Xander... but he had already broken my heart before he even meet me. Isn't that crazy?"

"What now?" Nova also idled. "Will you run away again?"

Luca looked back at Nova and remained silent. "Tell me, Nova. What should I do to that man who left me high and dry?"

"Kill him."

"I wish I can." Luca laughed weakly.

"You can."

"Nova, I'm everything but a murderer." Luca closed her eyes to rest them, failing to notice the conflicted look that flickered in Nova's golden eyes. When Luca reopened her eyes, a glint flashed across them.

"But I know how to kill him without sullying my hands." The side of her lips curled up, giving Nova a knowing look. She slowly pushed herself to sit up, eyes fixed on her beloved sassy cat.

"Come on, Nova. Let's prepare. We still have a man to murder."
