14 I am on her side (EDITED)

Xia Sinian recalled the time when he first held his baby sister into his arms. He swore at a young age that he would protect her. As he watched her grow up, he took care of her, especially after their parents passed away. But right at that moment, he wasn't doing anything for her. Even if he knew for himself that he was once a coward. He had enough of this!

He walked towards Lu Yifeng and decided to put everything at risk.

He gave Lu Yifeng a hard punch on his cheek. "My sister is not for sale! I will never give her to a bastard like you!"

Xia Jiamu sighed internally when he saw his grandson hit Lu Yifeng. He did not plan to interfere because he has already poured out his anger on the man.

Lu Yifeng wiped the blood that trickled down from the cut of his lips. He looked at Xia Sinian with a calm looked before he took a deep breath. "What happened back then was my fault. That's why I want to apologize and make up for it."

Xia Sinian scoffed, "What? Apologize? Make up for it? After the trauma you gave her? Do you really think that you can make things well with just a single apology?! I don't care anymore! F*ck the business! F*ck the family! I will never hand my sister to you even if it would be the last thing that I would do!"

He shot a look at Xia Jiamu, "Why are you siding with him, grandpa?! Why did you agree with their marriage?! You even allowed him to wander in our home?!! Did you forget that his crime is unforgivable and he should be sentenced to death?!" Xia Sinian fumed with anger, he was enraged as he was overwhelmed by the incident 4 years ago.

"I know it's hard to accept him. At first, we were both livid that even your grandma almost fainted!" Xia Jiamu took his walking stick and reach towards Xia Sinian. "But Lu Yifeng is sincere with his apology. He endured everything and I've never seen a man with such strong willpower. Even if he could've just forced this marriage and crushed our family, he didn't."

He placed a hand on his shoulder, "You know that your grandma is a tough woman and sometimes… fussy. She is very meticulous. She wouldn't let anything slide but she also saw his determination and sincerity."

"Bullsh*t! You are blinded by this man! He's using his power and both of you are just afraid to oppose him!" Xia Sinian didn't believe him especially after seeing how Xia Jiamu defended Lu Yifeng over and over again.

Lu Yifeng didn't do anything since it was a family matter. He knew that the hardest person he had to deal with was Xia Sinian but with his firm stand he couldn't help but admire him instead. At first, he thought that Xia Sinian would sacrifice his sister like any other businessmen who would rather choose business over family but that wasn't the case. But at that moment, he was able to see his real character, he was standing up for his sister despite the consequences of doing so.

Xia Jiamu sighed heavily, he took a glanced at Lu Yifeng. "I guess what he needs is proof."

Lu Yifeng understood what Xia Jiamu meant that's why he started to remove his coat then he unbuttoned his shirt. Rather than a perfect abdominal muscle, what greeted Xia Sinian's line of sight was a bandaged upper body.

Xia Sinian furrowed his brows, "This is?"

"Your grandma's doing. As a former general, do you think she will just sit still? She doesn't easily forgive, you know that." Xia Jiamu said.

Ji Ruo gave Lu Yifeng a whipping every day, aside from that, she allowed the Xia family bodyguards to beat him so badly. When he unwrapped the bandages around his body, deep wound marks could be seen, the cuts that came from the whipping were deep.

Xia Sinian's eyes went wide in surprise. He did not anticipate to see all the slashes and bruises on Lu Yifeng's body. Despite Ji Ruo's age, Xia Sinian knew how heavy his grandmother's hands were, receiving a few whips from her could make a person faint in an instant! But with this too many slashes... How can he even survive it? He wasn't really a human... The rumor about him being a devil was real.

"He came here every day just to get whipped and beaten by your grandmother. We didn't care if he was going to destroy our business and we expected him to do something but he didn't. Xia Sinian gritted his teeth. Just by the sight of those wounds that could leave so many ugly scars, he could sense how painful it was. Earlier, Little Melon was being carried and hugged by him, so does that mean he was enduring the pain all along?

Xia Jiamu called a maid to help Lu Yifeng dress his wound.

"Sinian, give him a chance."

Lu Yifeng who was watching finally opened his mouth, "I broke her, that's why I want to be the one to fix her."

The words that came out of his mouth were genuine. What he needed at that time was a chance, just one chance to make everything right.

So many questions lingered in his mind. He refused to believe that Lu Yifeng could have fallen in love with his sister at first sight. There must be a reason why he was willing to suffer for her, right?

"The decision is still up to her. If she doesn't want to marry you nor to be with you so be it. I am on her side."
