A dangerous plan (EDITED)

Xia Meilin cried in her room in frustration and anger because of the threats that Lu Yifeng gave her. She didn't know how long she cried but when she was finally able to calm down, she went to wash her face in the bathroom.

After she did, she stared at her reflection in the mirror. She has naturally brown hair and hazel iris, her eyes were red and puffy, her lips and skin were pale.

"How pathetic, how weak... you can't even do something against that man." She told herself while she was staring in the mirror.

She clenched her fists tight, she was not like this whenever it came to others but seeing Lu Yifeng and being with him made fear get ahead of herself. "Stop fearing him. Stop."

If no one would protect her then who would? She could only stand up for herself and be brave. "He's just a human being like you, he's not immortal so don't be afraid of him."

She was trying to convince herself, she needed to be strong for her family and her son. She slapped her cheeks with both hands. "I will marry him for the sake of my family but I will not allow him to ruin me any further!"

Xia Meilin looked at her redden cheeks from the mirror before she went out of her room only to see her brother. "Sinian-ge..."

Xia Sinian looked at her and saw the puffiness of her eyes and how red her cheeks were. He was still angry but he couldn't do anything else anymore after he saw what his grandparents did to Lu Yifeng. He walked toward his sister and hugged her. "I'm sorry for disappointing you, Xiao Mei... I am such a useless brother..."

She was surprised by his sudden hug but because of it, she was able to feel the comfort she needed. Her eyes started to become misty again but she tried her best to stop herself from crying. "Sinian-ge..."

He pulled away and placed his hands on her shoulders. "No one will help us, even the police wouldn't be able to do so since we don't have solid evidence against him but I promise you, if you order me to kill him, I would."

She shook her head. Her life was already a mess, she didn't want to make to ruin her brother's life as well. "I don't want to make my brother a murderer."

Xia Sinian lowered his head and sighed, "Of all the people in the world, why does it have to be him?"

"We cannot change what already happened. Xiao Gua is too young to understand all these things... and besides, I just want my son to be happy that's why for the sake of my son, of our family, I will marry him."

He shot his head up and look at her in surprise. "Are you sure about this?"

She nodded, she has already made her decision. "Once I will marry him, I will find enough evidence against him. I am sure he has done more horrible things. Once I have a piece of strong evidence against him, even the police wouldn't be able to turn a blind eye to it. I will make sure to show his true colors to everyone and for me to do that, I need to enter his world."

"You hate him this much?" Xia Sinian asked as he stared at his sister.

Xia Meilin gave him a nod. "I hate him this much."

"That is a dangerous plan you know." Xia Sinian warned.

She held his hands, "I know it will be a dangerous plan... When Xiao Gua will grow up, he will come to understand all of this but right now, he's too young. It won't be easy to gather evidence against Lu Yifeng but I will do my best to do it. I just... need your help, brother. Will you support me?"

"Of course I will! You don't have to ask." He hugged her in his arms. "I will be by your side until the end."

"You agree to marry him?" Xia Jiamu was surprised by what she said. He didn't expect to hear her answer within that same day.

"Yes. Only in one condition." She paused and turned to Lu Yifeng, "He should agree with the contract I will prepare."

"That depends on what is written in the contract, I will need to see it first." Lu Yifeng said as he crossed his legs.

"Fine. If there's nothing else, I will now go. We will go see my lawyer tomorrow. Two pm at Fanfan restaurant." She turned and left them after without hearing his reply about it.

Lu Yifeng stood up from the sofa. "Since everything is settled, I will take my leave."

Xia Jiamu and Xia Sinian didn't stop him from leaving since everything was already settled, just like hat he said.

As soon as Lu Yifeng went out of the living room, he saw Xia Meiren carrying Little Melon in her arms. She was smiling so lovingly toward the little boy and looking at them made his body fill with warmth. His eyes softened when he saw the two. Hearing Little Melon's laughter and seeing Xia Meilin's beautiful smile, he was willing to do anything to protect it. Although he knew that it would definitely take time before Xia Meilin could accept him but since he was already given another chance in life, why should he give up?

When Little Melon turned his head, he saw Lu Yifeng looking at them which made him smile brightly. "Dada!"

Little Melon was reaching out his hand to him as if wanting to be carried.

Xia Meilin tensed up when she saw Lu Yifeng but she refused to back down and run away from her greatest fear. She stayed her ground as she gave him a cold stare. She looked at Little Melon, it pained her to see her son smiling so happily towards Lu Yifeng.

Lu Yifeng walked towards them but he didn't carry Little Melon in his arms. "Xiao Gua, be good, okay? I will have to go to work now."

An adorable pout appeared on his lips. "Will Dada come home soon?"

He hasn't left yet, and yet, Little Melon was already asking him to come back. Lu Yifeng chuckled inwardly.

He patted his head, "I will make it up to you tomorrow. We can go visit the amusement park, how about it?"

Little Melon's eyes sparkled, "Okay! Pinky promise!" He showed his tiny finger to him.

"Take care of your mom." A small smile appeared on Lu Yifeng's lips as he wrapped his pinky around Little Melon's finger.

"Don't worry Dada, Mello always care for Momma!" Little Melon said as he hugged Xia Meilin by her neck.

From afar, it looked like they were a happy family but only Lu Yifeng and Xia Meilin knew the distance and tension between them.

"Good." Lu Yifeng turned to Xia Meilin but she ignored him. Her action made his heart sink. If it was his previous self, his temper would already have reached its limit.

"By the way, what happened to your cheek, dada? Why is it red?"

Now that Little Melon mentioned it, Xia Meilin noticed the redness of his cheek, as if he was been hit by someone. Did her brother hit him? Hah! He surely deserved that!

"I was bitten by a mosquito."

"Pfft-" Xia Meilin tried her best to control her laughter after she heard the reason he made.

"No way! Mosquito bite isn't like that!"

"It was a big one."

Lu Yifeng intentionally reasoned this out to lighten up the tense air between him and Xia Meilin. "I should get going, see you tomorrow."
